  1. Well, if I can find a good deal on a BG 2000, I think I'll give it a shot. Looks like finding one is tough though, much less a good deal.
  2. Looking around, it actually sounds like the 2000 has felt drag instead of carbontex. I wonder if there is carbontex washers available that would provide a little more if needed. I just realized the BG 2000 is a 5 speed, with less than 30" LPT. That's not ideal. Everything else I have is 32"+. Hmm.
  3. I'm thinking I've got to try one of the BGs. They just get too much praise. But I'm torn on 2000 vs 2500 in the BG line. The 2000 holds 130yds of 15lb braid, so that is plenty, but why the steep drop off in drag? I know that in practice 4lbs of drag is plenty for bass fishing, but that's ALL it's rated for. On wacky and weedless ned hook sets, I'm sure to be stripping off line.
  4. I think I’ll go daiwa, but I’m noticing there are several models like you said. Exceler LT Legalis LT Fuego LT BG. Or, pay a little more and get a Zion body in The Procyon LT? The top three listed have the cheaper “Carbon Light” body, and I’ve heard it’s a little more flexy than some people like?
  5. Looking at the lineup, why not the 2021 Legalis LT over the Exceler?
  6. I don’t mean physical weight, hence the quotes. Yes the aluminum framed BGs are heavy for their size. I mean the BG 2000 holds less line and has 1/5 the drag as a Nasci 2500. Noted. I don’t own any Pfluegers, so it may be hard to make the brand jump, but it looks like it fits the bill.
  7. I need another spinning rig to keep a Ned or Shaky on. It seems I never take the wacky rig off my main spinning rig lately. I admittedly don’t do enough finesse fishing, and use spinning reels very very little (for bass), but I don’t want to keep eating up leader every time I want to change to a Ned. So I know it’s probably been beaten to death somewhere, but I’m trying to put a decent rig together for about $150. it will probably get an Aird-X 7’ M/F rod, because for $50, they have flat out impressed me. So that leaves about $100 for a reel. The BGs reputation is solid, but the sizes seem odd. I feel like the BG 2000 is a little “light”, and the 2500 is more like a 3000 Shimano (little too “heavy”). Spring for a Tatula Lt 2500? Fuego LT? Shimano?
  8. haha. Well I have 4 other Tatula rods. They are all identical as far as fit and finish. That’s why this new one caught my eye.
  9. Potato Potahto I guess. The rod with the extra epoxy balances almost 2” closer to the tip. I wouldn’t have guess it would make that much difference, but I guess it does.
  10. I just got in another TTU711HFB, and it has quite a bit more build up/epoxy around the guides and wraps than any of my other Tatula rods. All my other Tats have nice flat epoxy, but this one has the "football" shape on every guide. With no reel on the rods, it actually even moves the balance point a little further down the rod than my previous TTU711HFB. It's obviously something that most buyers wouldn't even notice or care about, but it caught my eye immediately. I checked with Daiwa just for the fun of it, and they basically gave the generic "If you feel that it affects the rods performance, you can send it to our warranty department for inspection". So... forget about it and fish? Or send it back to Daiwa?
  11. I can't believe no one has said Bandito Bugs?
  12. Then you should never spend more than about $150 on a rod. Above that, and fit and finish (or bragging rights) better be part of your goal.
  13. The guys that like the Tat rods around here REALLY like them. I have a few of them, and they've been great. I don't have any of the moderate or glass Tats, but I am kind of on the hunt for another squarebill rod... so....
  14. This is interesting to me. I don't know how they specifically differ from the ALX, but I have three Revo SX's, and they cast fantastic. I've never had an issue on overruns on any of them?
  15. Ha. I mean, I'm just joking mainly. But I did see an animal on the bank of a wildlife refuge lake about a month ago, and I have no idea what it was. Thought it was a black dog at first, but it had a big beaver shaped head, and no ears. Was really strange.
  16. Welcome from North MS Delta.
  17. It is not an AGM.
  18. You are correct. Where I live, I 100% will not find anyone that knows enough, or will care enough to put any thought into whether or not the battery has a bad cell. Like you said, they'll slap the tester on it and it's going to say good (already had it tested). My options are literally pony up for a new battery which makes no sense at this point. It's a "new" battery, I've already confirmed that too. So the question is, is a light bubbling noise in the battery OK, or does this definitely indicate an issue? On the "AGM" setting the bubbling was not as loud or noticeable, but still present. I'll add, I did finally decide to let the charger go to 100% on the AGM setting. It did pop over to float the battery at 13.1v.
  19. A buddy of mine fishes online Kayak tournaments. It got me thinking.... It's to bad there is not a similar organization for the plastic boat crowd. It would be fairly simple to implement, and a lot of fun.
  20. I might add a Bullnose to my TM anyway. My rudder works fantastic, but I'd imagine adding one to the TM as well will be that much better.
  21. I have an assortment of Senko colors, but 297 is far and away the biggest producer. I tried BPS sticks and Dingers for a while. They are cheaper and more durable, but toss them in some clear water and watch them sink compared to a senko. Just not the same. When the fish are fired up, sure they will catch them, but I don't feel like they solicit the all-conditions bite that Senkos seem to.
