  1. The guides are assembled perfectly opposite the direction of the curve, and on the "spine". So I'm assuming it started out this way.
  2. (In my best dodgeguy voice) LEW'S RODS ARE ALWAYS PERFECTLY STRAIGHT!
  3. I’m not sure that’s correct. It is VERY hard to a graphite blank to take a set. I’m pretty sure this blank finished the manufacturing process thus way. “Point iPhone at the rod and hit the button” is my method. ?
  4. Trying to get a clear picture of something 7” away, and 7’ away at the same time is….. challenging.
  5. How much curve in a rod blank is generally acceptable to you? Just got in a new rod, and it has a little more than I’m used to seeing (in a graphite rod). I don’t believe it affects the rods performance, and this one is assembled on the spine, which is (arguably) nice. But when it’s enough to be visible it kind of affects the aesthetics of a rod. So to the techy rod guys… what say you?
  6. Just to update for readers in the future. The 7' ML/R just delivered. This is the graphite Tatula labeled "jerkbait". The tip definitely has some give to it, and it seems faster than what most companies would call "moderate". I'd say definitely "moderate-fast". It's rated up to 5/8oz, but I'm questioning that. It feels like a KVD 2.5 is going to push it pretty hard. I think it may be a little too soft, and a little too fast to be the rod I'm looking for.... But it does seem like a great jerkbait rod. ETA: I spoke too soon on not handling 5/8. This rod is actually pretty stiff. The tip is soft, and that’s what I was feeling earlier, but it gets beefier fairly quick. For comparison, this “ML/R” is as stiff or stiffer than my “M/F” Carbonlite, and pretty much just as fast. They are almost identical rods as far as power/action. Weird. Was definitely hoping for a slower action. I may return it, as it feels too much like a duplicate in my lineup. It’s definitely slower than my 6’10” Fast Tatula, but that one would be considered XF in a lot of brands.
  7. Just FYI, it's been priced like that for 3-4 months.
  8. TheHouse is a well known retailer for other hobbies. They know nothing about fishing stuff, but ordering from their site shouldn’t be an issue.
  9. I'm currently considering the Tatula ML/R for squarebills. Per the ratings, it seems like its more of an M than a ML though.
  10. Anyone else have this rod? Or the Medium Regular? Unfortunately there's no where near me that I can put my hands on one.
  11. How "sticky" are they? I'm a hand switcher (cast right handed and reel right handed). I'm wondering if they will "grab" my skin as I'm swapping back and forth?
  12. Well, to be fair, salt guys aren't making a couple thousand casts every day with big conventional reels and rods. If so, you'd see the "GRASP COASTAL" being released. ?
  13. GRASP IS THE FUTURE GET ON BOARD OR BE LEFT OUT
  14. The Coastal SVs have a big rotor, and need a stiffer R+ rotor spring swapped into them to really wake them up. With the stiffer spring you get a pretty awesome blend of distance mixed with big rotor SV control.
  15. On most Tatula models, the pinion gear is supported on the spool side by a bearing, but the other end is supported only by the spool shaft. On higher end free float spool Daiwa reels, the pinion gear is supported on both ends by a bearing, creating a more rigid drivetrain. (I believe) this reel has somewhat of mixture of the two designs, like the Tatula 300. It is a not a free float spool / fully supported pinion, but it does incorporate some type of bearing support into the handle side of the pinion. I have no hands on experience with this design, so I cannot comment much further. @PhishLI might be able to elaborate. Well. They stick a couple of CRBBS in it. Take that for what it's worth.
  16. Anyone ever tried these? I'm not much on adding stuff like this to a rod or reel, but when I'm throwing heavy lures on my Tatula rods, the short trigger digs into my finger a little. Thought these might actually make it more comfortable? http://www.triggerhappycomfortgrips.com/our-store/
  17. Depends on what you're looking for. The 150 is a blue Tatula Elite with a deep SV spool and more controlled braking. The 80 is a blue Tatula 80 with a little more line capacity, and a newer pinion support design. Not much chance I'd buy the Coastal 80 over an Alphas SV TW.
  18. I spit on them to make them shinier.
  19. I really wonder if the Tat MLR blank is about the same as the Elite MLR blank. Because Brent Ehrler says he’s throws up to 3/4oz top water on the elite MLR.
  20. Good info. I'd assume the actions in the XT and Tat are similar... maybe. KVD 2.5s are technically 5/8oz, which I know it's "rated" for... But you never know on a "ML" rod.
  21. Does anyone fish this rod? Looking for a rod to do some jerkbait duties and throw squarebills. I'm mainly wondering if a KVD 2.5 is too much for this rod? It specs the same as the Randy H. Elite ML rod, which I've heard handles them fine. But wondered if anyone had first hand experience.
  22. Hmm. The 610 Kaden is interesting. I wonder how it compares to the Daiwa “regular” actions.
  23. KVD 1.5s and 2.5s almost exclusively. 6’10” would be fine. Just don’t really want to go over 7’. And actions are so subjective these days it’s hard to say, but I’m a believer that a good moderate action does help keep a fish pinned on trebles, so id like to stay on that side of things, but don’t need a super parabolic rod. I’ve looked at the trap caster. If Omnia had them and I could get 20% off right now, I might would try one.
  24. Nobody? Not even a 705CB shout out? ??
