  1. Raccoons eat tons of frogs. Maybe?
  2. Nice bass! Congrats on the award!
  3. I normally use a 5” green pumpkin or watermelon Senko with a 1/0 Gamma octopus hook and an O ring. The shade is spot on. Especially right at the sun/shade demarcation.
  4. Gotta say...never saw anyone heaving tackle in the surf on casting rigs lol. You can catch and reel in some big fish on spinning rigs...if it’s sized right.
  5. Took the new Sea Eagle Packfish7 out for its maiden voyage this morning. I haven’t fished out on the water in 30+ years. Different than bank fishing for sure! Caught four bass. Three dinks and this one. 20” and just shy of 4 lbs. Glad I bought a net!
  6. Ok. First time on the water. A quick review: Took my time getting into it from the bank. Probably easier for those 40 and under lol. Sitting it’s very comfortable. Normally my back and shoulders start to ache by 9:00 with a dawn start. Fished to 11:00 with no aches at all. Standing? I tried twice. I will not be standing in it. I’m likely beyond that stage unless it’s a deck on a bass boat. Not hard to row but oars should be a bit shorter to prevent them from hitting your thighs. I’ll cut 8” off and try that. But with a good rythym it tracks straight and moves at a decent speed. Not to difficult to cast while sitting. No backlashes with my baitcasters. Storage space is at a premium but at 7’ that’s to be expected. Fully inflated it fit perfect in the bed of my truck and was easy to get it in and out. Caught four bass. Three dinks and this one. Almost 4 lbs. and 20”. Glad I bought a net.
  7. To be honest, I do like having to play a bass (any fish) vs reeling it straight in like a crane pulling a load. I know depending on conditions (high water temps for one) it may be better for the fish to reel it in quickly. But that 6-7 lb’er I caught on a UL spinning rig was a helluva fight and I had to really play her to land her.
  8. Daiwa Aird X is a nice rod for sure.
  9. I like both. For fishing wacky style I think it’s darned hard to beat a spinning rig.
  10. I had a 2.5 lb’er take a wacky rig deeper than normal a few weeks ago. It was hooked just where the gullet opens. I took my time and got the hook out with little blood loss. Let it go and it swam ten feet out and floated sideways. Darn. I felt bad about that. Within 30 minutes, four turtles had it and began feasting. Like Josey Wales said, “buzzards gotta eat. Same as worms”. Nothing goes to waste in nature.
  11. Welcome. What area of Texas?
  12. I don’t have a ton of time on it, but so far I have been impressed with my Daiwa Revros LT2500. On a Fenwick HMX66M-FS-2 with 8# YZH, it’s been my wacky style rig and has performed flawlessly.
  13. “Ask your doctor if Stellantis is right for you. You may experience dizziness, confusion and a loss of funds”
  14. I hope it works out for you. Necessity is the mother of invention. If not, you’ll learn a few things that may make the next one better. As long as you have a PFD, and don’t stray too far, you’ll be fine.
  15. You asked “can you stand in an inflatable”? Although the answer is “yes”, I’ll let you know 100% after Saturday!
  16. I told my wife I was getting up very early on Father’s Day to fish. “Why?” she asked. I said because every dad was going to be out. I fished until around 11:00 am. Never saw another angler. Drove past the pond at 2:00 pm. Crowded as a mofo. I hear the same about hunting. That’s even worse. Not many lakes are private. A lot of private land is no longer available to hunt. It’s only increased the amount of $$$$ needed for leases. I’d rather there be less “serious” anglers than more folks just clogging up the waters not knowing (or wishing to learn) how to fish properly and/or legally.
  17. That’s still a sucky commute. Nice truck! My average was about 70-75 minutes one-way. But sometimes 67 miles from DCA to home took 4 hours.
  18. I don’t know if you live in DC proper, or the MD/VA burbs. All I can say is that I bought the truck in 2007 used (first used vehicle I have bought in over 25 years) with 19K on the odo. I drove it daily between Abingdon or Bel Air to either BWI, DCA or PHL. So I know how bad the traffic in DC is. I rank it worst in the nation.
  19. Maybe. But there’s a huge difference between sitting up and standing in an inflatable boat and a float tube. And this is suitable for larger or moving bodies of water where a float tube is not.
  20. I don’t, but if you hope to find a match, you should post the make and model number, as without that, it could be anything.
  21. These ponds are the classic definition of small waters, but they do harbor some nice bass. I was looking at storage of the craft and hauling/carrying/launching it as my primary motivators, with price a semi-distant third. Being able to stand (reliably, without constant fear of tipping) was also a big plus. I don’t need a motor as it may take all of five minutes to row from one end to the other lol. I’ll see how it does in wind. If needed, I’ll get some rope and fashion an anchor for it.
  22. When we decided to relocate here, my wife asked me if I was bringing the truck. I looked at her like she had two heads. I told her I’d fit right in. I’ve never seen so many pick-ups in my life. There’s one in basically every other driveway. The one thing that surprised me is the number of Rams. I see more of those than any other brand. But 99% of them don’t have that weathered “yeah, I drive in snow” look!
  23. I’d use copoly before I’d use mono with a FC leader. I use it for weightless Senkos either TR and wacky and it works well.
  24. Nice truck. So, besides the “Texas Edition” badging, is there anything different on the truck that makes it such? I know I see plenty of them down here in the Houston area.
