I rather use bluegill for live bait. I don't got it in me to use bass for bait. Even though I catch many bait sized bass

I've honestly never caught a turtle on live bait. But whenever I use anything else such as cut bait, chicken liver, and bread. I'll catch a turtle. Maybe try using a larger bluegill? Bass tend to steal my live bait more than anything when I'm targeting catfish

Only luck I've had with topwater lures is with the whopper plopper and a popper. Yet again, I only fish canals here in south texas

First fish I ever caught on a topwater. Must say, quite exciting
