help-spotted bass or largemouth bass?
Checking the tongue is the only way I can tell. If you catch a 6 pound spot you won't be lipping that sucker in the boat unless you have a pair of gloves on. I haven't been on the water in 2 weeks and I still have marks on my thumb and and thumb nail from the teeth. I have also noticed that they tend to thrash around a lot more than largemouth do. I also think they fight more than a largemouth. Jerrod

LineX on Boat Bow
Well I thought the Linex might be a good idea since they can now match the color. I am not currently using removable bumpers because I didn't think it would be necessary with rubber strip running the whole length of the boat, but that was before are lakes dropped 12-15 below full pool and the floating docks are on the verge of being completely out of the water. Many of the docks are impossible to pull along side them now and you can only get the bow up to them to get on and off. I am tying with a spring line where I can. Jerrod

LineX on Boat Bow
With the water levels being as low as they are in the local lakes and down to 2 or 3 boat ramps per lake the floating docks that are left and still usable are really low and the boat no longer brushes up against them with the rubber bumper around the side. So I have gotten a few nicks and scratches in the hull up front. I was wondering if anyone has had LineX applied from say the bow hook up to the rubber bumper to keep scratched and nicks to a minimum. Does it stick to the boat? Do they have to do any crazy preparation to the boat hull to get it to stick (like they do a truck bed)? Thanks for replies in advance. Jerrod

Not to rehash the loomis worth but...
ThomasL, I would hate to see one transaction ruin your eBay experience. If you purchased through paypal dispute the charge and they will be forced to work with you on it. They will not get there money until it resolved. Also when purchasing rods on eBay check to see how they intend to package the rod. Most of the people that care about what they are selling will ship it wrapped in bubble wrap inside of a pvc tube. And they will also tell this to you in the auction. I have purchased all of my St. Croix Tournament rods and one GLoomis rod on eBay and have not had one problem. In fact I have my eye on a magnum cranker for sale on there now. Anyway good luck. BPS Fourocarbon Line
Thanks for the responses I think I will give it a shot. For the price it's hard to beat. 1000 yards for $59.99 compared to the cost of the PLine. Maybe I will write my own review when I get it spooled up and have used it. Jerrod

BPS Fourocarbon Line
Does anyone have any thoughts on the BPS XPS Signature Series Flourocarbon line? Is it any good? How are the break offs? Can you tie a good secure knot? I have been using the PLine Flourocarbon line but it is getting a little expensive to re-spool everytime. I will say that I love flourocarbon more than anything else. I had to replace the line on my spinnerbait setup while out on the water due to the line breaking off during a cast and switched over to mono because that is all I had in the boat and boy does mono suck. I had to re-adjust the drag and it felt like i was casting with a rope instead of fishing line. I also could no longer feel the spotted bass slapping at it like they do sometimes. Anyway if anyone has any experience with it please chime in and share your thoughts. Jerrod

drop-shot hook
I have been using the mosquito hook by Owner until a few weeks ago and I picked up a couple packages of the there down shot offset hook. I prefer the down shot offset hook over the mosquito hook because it gives you more hook to work with.

What Rod and Reel for $350-$400
Ebay! Ebay! Ebay.! Why pay full price when you can "bid on it" or use the "buy it now" option for less. As far as GLoomis rods go I personally don't care for them. IMHO I thing the St. Croix Tournament Series rods are better. Jerrod

Gas fumes coming from the boat!
Jig Man, Why 40 gallons? Does it keep it from sloshing around so much and creating additional fumes in the tank? Thanks, Jerrod

Gas fumes coming from the boat!
Got the boat in the picture to the left and every time I open the starboard rod locker I get the smell of gas fumes. I've searched all of the fittings that I can get to easily and can't find any leaks in the fuel system. I've also tried to get down to the gas tank itself but that is next to impossible to do. I've searched the internet and can't find anything on it either. Is this just something to expect will happen or do I need to get it checked out? Thanks in advance for your response. Jerrod

USING POWER TRIM ON OUTBOARD TO HOIST WIFE
Should have bought a Triton. Ladder built into the hull. Just kidding. I have seen many professionals do this on T.V. Jerrod P.S. : sometimes I amaze myself when I read what I wrote. If anyone noticed I typed Latter instead of Ladder.

School me on Jack Plates
I have the Triton TR-20X pictured to the left. The boat came with a manual 8" jack plate on it. I forget the name right off hand. It may be a T&H jack plate. The marina I purchased the boat from set the Jack Plate to run for optimum performance. What I would like to know if would I gain anything by going to a hydraulic jack plate and being able to change the height of the motor while running down the lake and not being able to only change the trim on the motor? Thanks in advance. Jerrod

Need Topwater Rod Suggestions
If you like the St. Croix brand check out the Legend Tournament series rod specifically designed for topwater baits. I got one of off ebay and absolutely love it. Also if you watch carefully enough you can get it for an excellent price. I paid $170.00 for mine and they list for $220.00 everywhere else. Jerrod

New Triton TR-20X
Benn lurking for a while and reading about what everyone thought was the best boat to get. And I finally stepped off into the deep end and bought a boat. She is a beauty. 2006 Triton TR-20X Bassmasters Classic Edition, Mercury 225, Lowrance 332GPS on the console, Lowrance x135 on the bow and Motorguide trolling motor. I have her up to 75 with me, the dog and a boat load of equipment. Makes me grin every time I get out on the water headed to a fishing hole. Now it's time to hone some of my skills and start fishing some of the local tournaments. Thanks to all of those who have posted asking questions and to those that have replied to them and helped me make up my mind. Jerrod

Have money, need quality rods...please help!
I have fished with them all. Falcon, AllStar, Castaway, GLoomis, Berkley, Shimano and St. Croix. Personally I will never fish with anything other than St. Croix as long as they are making them. Out of the the 11 rods I have in my rod locker I have 10 St. Croix Legend Tournament Series and 1 GLoomis. In my opinion they are just built better, have a better warranty and are much more sensitive. Even the Avid series or Premiere Series. My 2 cents. Jerrod
