  1. I'll be in Central Oregon at the end of March through the first 2 weeks of April. My old man is turning 60 and for a surprise I will be showing up un-announced on his birthday. Anyway I was thinking of bring the boat with me if it would be worth my while to haul it across the country. He lives in Bend, OR but while I am there I would be willing to travel to CA, WA or if someone knows some good spots in OR that would work too. Looking at being in the northwest March 29- April 16 or 17. Thanks, Jerrod
  2. Weiss ain't so bad as long as you stay in the channel. I put in at Brushy Branch on the GA side and go either up the Cossa or down river to the lake. Although I have seen some guys mess up there boat by doing stupid stuff.
  3. Very nice Mike. What did she weight? I don't get out on Allatoona a lot I mainly fish west Point and Weiss.
  4. Well it's been 11 years since I fished South Mississippi. I grew up in Hattiesburg. Tons of small lakes to fish but others that I have fished are: Geiger Lake in Paul B. Johnson S.P. up Hwy. 49, Ashe Lake near Ashe Nursery in Brooklyn MS also up Hwy. 49, Flint Creek Reservoir in Wiggins MS, Lake Columbia and Lake Bill Waller were good lakes at the time too. Jerrod
  5. Where are you in South MS?
  6. Well I will say I am impressed with the setup of the canoe and the kayak. However I am not giving up my boat!
  7. I would suggest road beds, sub-merged lakes and dams, bridge pillings, deep points and fish slow. I would be throwing, carolina rig, shakey head, drop shot and I'd also probably be throwing a deep diving crankbait. Also check the fishing reports online. Here: http://www.havefunfishing.com/fishingreports/sr_westpoint_lake_fishing_report.htm and here: http://www.fishwestpoint.com/westpointlakefishingreport Good luck and dress warm. I am headed to Lake Weiss on Sunday morning. Morning temperature is only suppose to be 26 warming up to 40. Jerrod
  8. I would say raise the jack plate. My 2006 Triton TR20X performs best at 4" on the Hydraulic Jack Plate. Not sure what that equates to height wise on the boat. I would also suggest that if you have the cash go get a Hydraulic Plate installed. Best money I have spent so far on my boat. You can raise and lower the plate as you drive. Find the best spot on the plate and trim the motor all the way up for best performance. Chine walk is gonna happen. Learning how to control it isn't really all that hard. Slight ticks to the left on the steering wheel and steady pressure on it will hold you straight ahead. Jerrod
  9. Get a black marker and write "RETURN TO SENDER" on it. Place it in your mailbox, put the flag up and the nice postman or post woman will take it and send it back to BASS. BASS then will recognize you did not want it and you will not get any annoying phone calls or letters. Don't be an *** just send it back.
  10. I like the Owner hooks the best.
  11. AHHH! I remember those days. Sleeping and eating. My little girl is 20 months old and as you can see to your left she already thinks she can drive the truck. I was just telling my wife the other day it was so much easier when she just sat in the middle of the room and played.
  12. Is it a 21X or a 21X2? The X2 is easier to drive than the X but even if it is a X it isn't that hard to drive. I have a 2006 20X. The boat came with a manual jack plate and after 3 months of owning it I broke down a purchased a hydraulic jack plate. The reason being is it allows me more control of the boat. I can trim the motor all the way own and lower the jack plate and get a faster hole shot. Also I found out that maximum speed is achieved with the motor trimmed out at full throttle and the jack plate up at 4 inches. I hope I have not lost you but what I have found is I can run the boat faster without having as much chine walk. I also find the boat easier to control between 70 and up then between 65-70 mph. Search you tube for Triton Chine Walk and you should find some videos. Boils down to constant pressure to the left and slight corrections to hold it steady and straight. Nothing like going down the lake as fast as or faster than you drive down the interstate. I will say after owning the boat for 2 years I am not impressed with how it is holding up. Nothing major just a few minor annoying things breaking or need to be replaced. All in all a good fast boat. Jerrod
  13. The more the merrier. I pull mine 20 footer with a 2008 Ford F250. Diesel of course. More than needed for the boat but i pull other stuff with it also.
  14. I would highly suggest you go to the boat ramp and watch people load and unload their boats to get an idea of how to do it. Make some mental notes on how to and how not to load and unload a boat. By myself i can load or unload my boat in 3 minutes or less. On a busy morning at the ramp or at a tournament it helps to be fast. I sat in line Sunday morning and watched a guy take 15 minutes to unload his boat. He did lots of things wrong. And even yelled at one person when they tried to help him out. Anyway all I am saying is get a plan down and do it fast and do it proficiently. Jerrod
  15. Great day on the lake. You could catch fish as long as the bait you were throwing mimicked a shad. The fish were stacked up on points and creek intersections. If you found one you could sit there for hours and catch fish. Fished from daylight until 12:30 and boated over 40 fish by myself. Sizes ranged from dinks all the way up to a 6.7 pound largemouth. Attached are some pictures of some of the bigger spots and one of a stripper I caught at the boat on a Strike King Sexy Shad Chrome rattle trap. 3 mains baits I threw were, white Spinnerbait, Strike King Sexy Shad Chrome rattle trap and the drop shot with a Zoom Shad imitation bait. Best day I have had in a while. I needed it to I have been in a funk all year. 16. It should drain by itself. I fish year around also but I store my boat in the garage.
  17. If it has the tooth patch than it is a spot. Sometimes here in GA that is the only way to tell the difference.
  18. Wrap your hand around a Calais DC. Then look at the price tag. But don't drop it. Gently set it down. Because remember if you break it you buy it. And if you find you really want one. Do yourself a favor and venture over to ebay and buy one at a discounted price.
  19. Glad to see that we have some opinions on this topic. Being a Land Surveyor I find this interesting because it deals with land and water rights. This lake is a oxbow lake and at one point time was the navigable water way of the Mississippi River. Attached is a picture of the lake off of Google Maps. The lake is to the west and the river to the east. I can see where access to the lake is possible when the river floods from the south. By law you are trespassing if you are caught on the lake. And therefore you are subject to being arrested. However I can see the other side also. I only read the BASS article early this morning before the work day began. I will definitely do some research and read up on it. Jerrod
  20. Very interesting article on the BASS website about fishing in backwaters and lakes when a river floods. I used to do this all the time when I lived in Mississippi on the Mississippi River. Check it out. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/conservation/news/story?page=b_con_news_LA_Access_20081007 Jerrod
  21. Knew the shop was there but I have never been in. Added the date to my Crackberry. Count me in.
  22. All I can say is Thank God this years tournament season is coming to a close in 2 weeks. Hopefully 09 will be better. I have had terrible luck this year. Anyway I found more of the same as i reported above. Except all of the fish were small. I weighed in 5 1lb fish. Oh well. Good luck in your tournament and I hope the fish have moved up shallower to feed for the winter. Jerrod
  23. Fished 3 hours today. From around 2:00 - 5:00. I stayed off of my best producing spots but fished some other ones I have caught fish off of. I fished rock beds, submerged ponds and islands. I caught 1 or 2 fish and left. Baits used that produced were Strike King Rattle Trap in Sexy Shad and Sexy Shad Chrome, White and Chartreuse Spinnerbait's and drop shot rig with a shad colored soft plastic. I can get exact colors and style if needed. Used the drop shot mainly in the submerged ponds and the other 2 everywhere else. Lake conditions were: water temps in the mid 70's, really windy(white caps on main lake) and partly cloudy. I'll report again on Sunday. Wish me luck. I have really stunk it up this year in our club.
  24. I'll be there tomorrow and again on Sunday for a tournament. And the my club's classic is the weekend after you fish. Check out the Have Fun Fishing Report above and this one: http://www.fishwestpoint.com/westpointlakefishingreport I'll report back tomorrow and again after Sunday to let you know what I catch them on. My favorites are the road beds, stands of trees, submerged ponds and the islands created by the creeks merging together. It is a frustrating lake. If you can practice. Good luck. Jerrod
  25. Practice, practice, practice and you guessed it more practice. I could do it in my sleep if i had to. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will get easier with time.
