My New Truck
Nice one. That truck with the 7.3L will do better than any gas vehicle and get better gas mileage than any gas truck out there. Nice find. Most people don't realize the additional cost of diesel more than offsets the mileage gain you get over a gas vehicle. Enjoy it. Make sure and change the oil and keep up with the fuel filters and you should easily get another 200K out of it. JHB

ATL events
There are lots of bass clubs. My club fishes into October. I mostly fish by myself however I have a boat. I am always looking for someone to take fishing if you are interested. My nest tournament is on Lay Lake in Alabama.

West Point Lake, Georgia

2009 Road Trip
I saw before where it was suggested that next years Road Trip would be at Lake Kentucky. I thought I might suggest Lake Amistad or Falcon Lake. I've been keeping up with the Elite tournament that's going on this week and weekend on Falcon Lake and the fish they are catching are just amazing. Anyway I just thought I would throw my 2 cents in there. Also you guys can tell me to go stick it since I signed up for the Guntersville trip this year and wasn't able to make it. Jerrod

Most Expensive Set Up
Shimano Calais DC ($649.99) on a St. Croix Tournament TBC70mhf ($229.99) = $879.98. However I would never pay that much for it.

Cost of your fishing trips ???
Alright I think I have everyone beat. This is for a tournament on Lake Eufaula/Walter F. George this past weekend. Truck Diesel: 32 gallons @ $3.75 per gallon = $112.50 Boat Gas: 15 gallons @ $3.25 per gallon = $48.75 Tournament Fee: = $50.00 Breakfast, Lunch, Drinks & Snacks = $25.00 Boat Launch & Parking Fee: = $3.00 Total for Tournament Day = $239.25 On a normal fishing day you can cut the diesel in half, Boat gas in half and no Tournament Fee = $108.62 give or take a few dollars. The only silver lining is I purchased both the boat and truck through my company so I can use them as a write off on taxes and the fuel too. We had 80 boats this past tournament and we had 120 at the tournament before this one. I wonder if the rise in gas prices play's a part in why we had 40 less boats on Sunday. Jerrod

Extra cost when buying a boat?
What state are you in? In Georgia you don't have to pay sales tax on a private party sale. You will have to pay boat registration fees and trailer tag fees. Other items: -transom bracket -flotation devices -2 cycle oil and the list can go on and on. Jerrod

Lake Eufaula Fishing Report
Thanks for the responses. According to my GPS there is a big stump field right out from where the blast off is. I think I'll hit that first and then go from there. Jerrod

Lake Eufaula Fishing Report
I guess no one fishes Lake Eufaula/Walter F. George any more. At least that levels the playing field for me and the other 120 boats. I read report that they are hitting spinnerbait if it warms up. Sundays high is 61 so maybe I'll be in luck. Otherwise it will be soft plastics and crankbaits on the ledges. Wish me luck. Jerrod

I come for your wisdom.
I am with RW. If you stay at Guntersville State Park you have a number of lakes to chose from. Let's see: Guntersville, Logan Martin, Neelly Henry, Lake Weiss (watch out for the stumps and stay in the channel if your running wide open) and you could also go down to Lay Lake the site of the 2007 Bassmaster classic. Alabama is an excellent fishery. Jerrod

Harris - Kissimee - Central Florida Fishing Report
Bocabasser if you see the males then the females are there also. There just not on the bed. Look at the direction he is facing and he should be looking right at her. Cast out that way and see if you can trigger a bite. Jerrod

Need some recommendations
Get the Calais DC. I have the Japanese version which is the Antreas. Love it. I have it on my St. Croix Tournament Series Sweeping Spinnerbait rod and love it. As Jimzee79 stated you can cast all day and not get a backlash. Also don't pay retail as already been suggested. I got my on eBay for $450.00. Jerrod

West Point Lake, GA
How was the trip?

West Point Lake, GA
West Point is my local fishing hole. Check out this link: http://www.havefunfishing.com/fishingreports/sr_westpoint_lake_fishing_report.htm It is updated every Friday and gives good advice for what they are catching them on. We have only a few boat ramps left open due to low water levels and in fact Highland is closed. At lest it was a few weeks ago. However Yellow Jacket Creek boat ramp is open and it's just 5 minutes down the road. The west boat ramps are the only ones open. I would suggest you buy a lake map unless you have GPS with it built in. Also be very carefull running the lake there are tree branches popping up all over the places and in the middle of the lake where I never thought I would see them. Good luck fishing. Jerrod

Parking the Boat
bassdoktor thanks for the tid bit of info. All of the local marinas around here use tractors and I don't have a need for that yet. I've been reading the reviews on the RZR also and like what I am reading. No offense bassboy1 but my truck does weight that much. Curb weight on a 2005 Ford F250 4X4 with 6.0l turbo diesel engine loaded with all of the goodies is 8,800 pounds. Add myself, and all of my work gear puts my up close to 9,500 pounds. A lot of the gear stays in my truck during the weekend and doesn't get removed from the truck. Also pulling a trailer daily during the week I have to watch my total weight. I usually check myself once or twice a week at the Flying J truckstop to see what my total weight. Jerrod

Parking the Boat
Thanks for the replies from everyone. Sam: I'll post the Parking your boat in the garage idiots video. I'll have the neighbor film it and commentate in it. ;D Mayassa: Really don't have a need for a tractor. I cut the grass with a push mower. Good idea though. Frogtog: Thanks for letting me know that it's possible. I think I am going to go the route of the atv. I'll let everyone know how it works out. Jerrod

Parking the Boat
Front mount hitch is a good idea but doesn't allow me to get the ATV. Looking at the new Polaris Ranger RZR 800. It's only rated at towing 1500lbs but I am talking about only pushing it 80 to 100 feet once down at the bottom of the driveway. Also would like to have a new toy but only if it can handle the weight. Not using 4 wheel drive isn't option until the back wheels are back on concrete. 9000lb truck on grass and a slope pushing the boat (not sure what the weight is?) mean ruts in the yard in 2 wheel drive. Just looking to see if anyone else uses there ATV to park the boat. Jerrod

Parking the Boat
Well I have the boat to the left and to get to the point it can be a PIA to get it in the garage due to my driveway configuration. From the road my driveway drops down about 25' to the basement level then a sharp 90 into the garage. On the opposite side of the driveway form the house is a gradual slowing downward hill to my neighbor's yard. I pull the boat with a Ford F250 Crew Cab Short bed and always have to put it in 4 wheel drive once I get out in the grass to back it up. Anyway as I am sure you can gather it's a mother to get it in. I was wondering if anyone in the same situation uses a 4 wheeler to get there boat in out of there garage? Does it make it easier to maneuver with a short wheel base vehicle? Is there an ATV out there that can handle the weight of the boat? Does anyone have any other option other than leaving it out side which is not an option? Thanks in advance. Jerrod

Boat ramp Morons!!!!
Okay found this on another website I won't mention here. Mama always said stupid is as stupid does. I swear there should be a iq test when you go to get your drivers license. If it is to low then you don't get one. Also you should be required to have a boaters license. And if you break the law and get caught no water fun for you. How many times have you sat in line watching some idiot trying to get there boat in or out of the water? Jerrod

Choosing a rod
I have the big cranker and love it. Been using it for my DD22's up until Monday when my TBC710HM Magnum Cranker came in. Can't wait till this weekend when I can give it a shot. I say get the St. Croix.

Buyers Beware!
If the seller lied and you used Paypal to pay for the transaction then dispute the charge and the seller will be forced to take it back or refund you a portion of the sale. Don't just let the SOB take your money.

Measuring Water Temp
All I get is the water temperature on the surface. It's a nice feature to have but doesn't always determine where I am fishing for the day or that part of the day. I usually fish shallow in the morning and move off deeper as the morning moves into the afternoon. I have learned to be a student of my depth finder at all times. In fact using my depth finder and GPS I could go to any spot on any of the lakes i fish without taking a peek over the windshield to see what in front of me. I do look though to make sure I am not going to take out a pesky skier, jet skier, wake boarder or pleasure boater. But to get back to your question all I get is the surface temperature. There are probably some fisherman/woman that use a temperature gauge that they drop down to a certain depth an take a reading. Funny thing though. I was fishing Lake West Point one morning and hadn't even bothered to check the water temperature and caught my first fish of the morning and it felt like it had been in a frying pan. Looked on the depth finder and it was reading 92F. I fished until the morning bite stopped and moved out to a road bed and hammered them on a DD22 and c-rig all afternoon. Jerrod
