  1. You beat me to it. No offense, IDBasser but I'm glad I don't live in Idaho. This snow thing is getting to be too much for me anymore. I don't mind a little winter, a little cold, a little snow but it comes and hangs on and hangs on.
  2. beautiful Someday I hope to get one. What did you catch it with?
  3. $3.19 in western PA. Dropped 20 cents last week.
  4. I tuned in late. I didn't know it had already been below 80.
  5. At noon, the price of a barrel is about to break through the $80 floor.
  6. Wish I had some cash on hand for buying. My investment mgr. told me the other day the portfolio managers have been setting about 18% aside in cash, just for this purpose.
  7. Might not necessarily work. Demand is down and falling. I remember when gas was 20 or 25 cents per gallon. But I was only making $1 to $1.25 per hour. I still had to work for 4 hours to fill my tank. At $3.00 a gallon, its not much different. I used to pull into a station and fill my motorcycle with high test........and get change back from my dollar. ;D
  8. Pretty soon will be a good time to buy!
  9. My sister sent this plan to me today. I think if I have any money left in my IRA when this debacle is over I will try this investment. I may only be able to afford a 6 pack.
  10. No wonder people want to go into space.
  11. Since I don't have a boat the traditional kind of lure retriever doesn't do me much good, but I do occasionally get snagged in trees, either from a misplaced cast or the lure getting caught when it suddenly frees from an underwater snag. To that end, I made a 4 pronged grappling hook from twisted coat hangers and some nylon cord. I toss it into the tree and it usually allows me to bring the branch down far enough to reach the lure and unsnag it. While the coat hangers are stiff, I can still pull hard enough to straighten them out and free the retriever if it gets stuck. It does also work in the water close to shore by bringing up the snag if its not too big.
  12. For bluegill, I use the thin pencil style. Much less resistance than round floats.
  13. If you are using these for pike, are you using a steel leader with them and if so, are they tracking ok? I've been bitten off too many times not to use a steel leader. I tried a rage tail for a pike once, he chewed up the tail pretty good and then...gone.
  14. I like solid black. My second favorite color is solid black.
  15. My son got a 24" pike the other night and we had the same problem. Hook and teeth were caught in the net. Fortunately he wasn't real well hooked and the hook came out while he was thrashing. Then we only needed to get the teeth out. I had a somewhat more difficult problem the other night. I got a 24" one on a Mepps #5 inline. Two of the trebles were hooked in his lower jaw. I had a hard time holding the fish and rotating two hooks from the treble at the same time. Somewhat unusual for him to be hooked that way, through the skin in the lower jaw as I think they usually slash at their prey sideways. Previous pike have been hooked in the corner of the mouth where its real bony.
  16. That place could easily be cleaned up. Several sticks of dynamite should do nicely. Bet they don't get their cleaning deposit back.
  17. Haven't seen any in the stores, so I can't answer.
  18. Has anyone used the Joe Bucher swim baits?
  19. And if you don't you won't care
  20. The article posted by Burley is exactly right. The trouble hasn't been deregulation but OVERREGULATION.
  21. I think we should cut them in half and count their rings. ;D
  22. Low interest rates= cheap money. A great rush to prime the economy. I'm sure they were well aware of the many questionable loans that were being made but with the government at the ready with taxpayer dollars to bail them out if necessary, where's the risk on the part of the banks? A lot of people were counting on the continuing increase in value of homes. More people buying pushes prices up. Very much like the run up in the stock market before the crash of '29. Prices are overvalued and a whole lot of people playing with money that wasn't theirs to play with.
  23. Hmmmm, Government owns 80% of AIG.... that should just about finish that company off.
  24. Motorcycle...been there...done that...no more
  25. Had the same issues recently with a buzzbait while fishing for Northerns. First hit, I reacted too quickly. Second time I had him on but he came unbuttoned. I surmised that I probably hadn't set the hook hard enough. He had it in his mouth but let go near the bank. Third time he merely smacked it. I was surprised he kept coming after it. The fourth time I waited until he was well under water with it and was definitely swimming with it, then I set the hook hard. I was rewarded with a nice 30" northern. Even so, he wasn't hooked all that well through that bony jaw. A bass of course would be different. But I still learned to wait until I was sure he had it firmly in his mouth. I've been looking for the Cavitrons at Dick's, since they are supposed to be stocking them, but mine hasn't had any . So, I ended up with a new Booyah.
