  1. My favorite - Glenn Miller Story
  2. I was drooling over the new Rapala Clackin' raps at Gander the other day. Beautiful looking lures. Substantial weight 7/8 oz. Has anyone used any of these yet? I would like to pick one up and give it a try this spring but wasn't sure what pattern to get. The mossback shiner looked very interesting. Any reviews yet?
  3. Your rod/reel and line are definitely too heavy. Crappie are very soft biters. I use a light or ultra light setup as well as a Sam Heaton, 10' Crappie rod, a Pfleuger underspin reel and 6# camo line. The ultra light is a Rapala 5'6" rod I picked up on clearance at WalMart once for under $10. I have the best success with small grubs on 1/16 oz jigs. I have ocassionally caught some Crappie on medium or medium light spinning equip while fishing for bass. My best grub color is a pumpkin/chartreuse.

Nikon or Canon, either one. I've used Canons for 35 years. Why?, just because I started with them and lenses usually worked on newer bodies (for a while) so I didn't have to start all over buying a collection of lenses if I changed brands. I have 5 digital Canons right now and may get the D50 soon.
  5. Any color recommendations?
  6. I have some of these VMC shakey heads, as well, and I haven't figured out how to use them either. I was planning to use them with some big grubs but its kind of tough on that plastic as well. I may just take some sidecutters and nip off a little of the wire barb.
  7. They, the gov't, would take EVERYTHING, if they could. It's not their money, IT'S YOURS! They didn't earn it, you did. They should be grateful you're giving them as much as you do. We sure have regressed from the days of tax rebellions when the country was founded. My father always said the worst thing the government did was to automatically deduct taxes from your paycheck all year long. If people had to sit down and write that check at the end of the year, they would have rebelled against the tax rates years ago. You get used to that auto deduction. You don't miss what you never had.
  8. The Rapala does look like a great bait. Guess I'll have to try a couple. I have a bunch of Rat-L-Traps but I think only the chrome and black or chrome and blue have done much for me.
  9. X2 The warm serene summer night, crickets chirping, soft glug glug from the glass smooth pond or lake, and then...the water explodes when you're least expecting it.
  10. In view of some of the horrendous storms and disruption of their lives that some of our members are experiencing, how many of you have some sort of a survival plan? This would include, but not necessarily be limited to, having food and water available, heat, power, and other basic necessities. I admit, I am not well prepared. My particular part of the country is not really prone to ice storms or tornadoes, etc. Although we do get them, disruptions are generally short lived. I have a woodburner, so I have heat source in the winter, but I would have no power. Food is probably no more than a couple of days supply, depending on when we last went shopping. A local grocery store recently closed and I noticed that when stocks weren't being replenished, the shelves were empty within a week. A major food supply disruption would empty them faster. So what do you guys do? Do you store food, water, gasoline? What's your plan?
  11. Unfortunately, these kinds of storms show us just how vulnerable we all are when interruptions of this sort occur.
  12. Oh man am I glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read that.

  22. It isn't California's money in the first place, it's yours. And now they won't give it back to you. Nice, very nice. > That's the problem with the pay as you earn tax system.
