Mechanic help please.
To this day, I refuse to go to a Firestone store. I took my car to one, years ago, for a front end alignment. The mechanic put the car up on the rack and started taking off tires. When I asked him what he was doing he said it was a free service inspection, they do it for (to) everyone. He said everything was fine (which I knew) until he got to the front ball joints and tie rods. With the car in the air, he proceeded to twist the tie rod and showed me how much play there was in the ball joints and that I needed a new set. If I had not known what I knew about cars, (I used to work on my own) I probably would have believed him. I'm sure many women were taken in. >

Ammo prices/shortage
Sam is right. Keep in touch with your legislators. Don't take anything for granted. Any of this could change in a heartbeat. My local gun dealer told me that he sold a lot after the election. I don't know what the reasons for an ammo shortage are, whether it is a run to stock up before something might change or if there is really something going on. Hopefully it will stabilize in the near future and prices will become more reasonable. Here are some of the bills that have been proposed, according to ammunitionaccountability.org http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm

Ammo prices/shortage
There are numerous bills floating around various sate and i believe the federal legislatures that will require all ammunition to have a serial number. All old ammo, along with reloading supplies, etc, will have to be destroyed. If you are caught with any old ammo, it will be a felony and will be reason enough to have your property searched and your guns confiscated. Thankfully, so far, I don't think any of these bills have passed. http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f20/ammo-bill-8733/

Solar Storm?
That's right. I do remember one of the other articles talking about the increase in solar activity in 2012 and that increasing the chances of said storm.

Water Soaked Electronics
Doesn't always work. My wife dropped hers in the pool and tried the rice trick. Result: we bought a new phone. However, my son washed his regular IPod in the washer. Took it out, turned it on, worked just fine.

Solar Storm?
I have read articles about this potential solar storm before. It could possibly happen and if it does, I'm afraid the scenerio they paint is accurate. Other than a short term survival plan, I don't think there's much we could do to survive 3 or 4 months with no electricity. One thing they didn't mention in the article is, that along with the other problems of shortages of fuel, food water and meds, is that the civil chaos would be unprecedented. I wonder why the year 2012. Is that a random number, a guess, or do they have some concrete evidence.

Burglar chose wrong house.
And what's more pathetic is there will be some dirt bag attorney who will somehow find a jury to award in the crooks behalf. Don't wound 'em. If you only do that they can still sue ya. Take them out once and for all. Chances are they'll just commit a crime again.

Dental question
I've had several root canals. Nary a problem with them. I actually have a permanent bridge across the front uppers. 4 total teeth. Talk about an expensive and time consuming procedure, but they're just like the real deal. Good dental work is hard to beat.

Combining Gulp Alive baits
I know a lot of guys here don't like/use Gulp but does anyone know of a reason why I couldn't combine the leeches and the smelt in one container? That way I only have to carry one leaky container around instead of two. Is the attractant juice the same?

Jigs
Google some of the fishing catalogs on line, Cabelas, BassPro, etc. Look at the various lures, jigs, trailers, soft plastics, swimbaits, etc and familiarize yourself with what they look like.

Values for used firearms
Why do you say that, just out of curiosity? In the news you will hear of gun sales going through the roof since November. Supply & Demand is why the price will skyrocket along with the fact that .22 ammo is still very reasonable compared to other calibers. People in "survival mode" want guns that are small & cheap to shoot. Many firearms manufacturers are experiencing very high demand. Not only that, try buying ammo on line. Several of the sites I've checked are out of stock on many calibers and orders are running several weeks behind, in spite of prices that have increased significantly. I think you will find it in your best interest to keep any gun you own. JMO.

Would you buy a Chrysler?
I've owned a lot of Chrysler products over the years and I have had some problems with some of them. However, the dealer, probably the best I had ever seen, took care of them. Unfortunately he is no longer in business because Chrysler forced him out because he was small and didn't have all the Chrysler brands. I never fought for warranty work and even when it was out of warranty, the dealer worked with me. Right now I have an '05 Jeep with 68,000 miles on it and an '05 Durango with over 50,000 miles. The Durango has never had 1 thing, not 1, ever done to it, except oil. Not even brakes. We drove that thing to Florida, non stop, and it never missed a beat and got 20 mpg from that 5.7 liter Hemi. The Jeep has the 5.7 in it as well and that is one of the best running engines I've ever owned. Would I by another, probably, but they discontinued the Durango and I'm looking forward to no car payment shortly.

storing soft plastics
I've been having the same issues with how to store and carry soft plastics. I was leaving them in the original bags and keeping all of them in a large plastic storage box. Then I threw that container in the car and took out what I wanted when I got there. I honestly didn't like that system. I recently reorganized one of my 2 hip Plano tackleboxes and carry only jigs, jigheads, tubes, and spoons. There's enough room in that box for a lot of packages of grubs, tubes, trailers, anything I need for those techniques. That way, I only have to grab that tacklebox and everything I need is there.
