  1. I'll be the odd man out here. I do not like rooster tails. The blades do not spin well. I also don't like the willow blades. Not as much vibration. I much prefer and have very good success with Mepps inlines. I can make the Mepps run much slower and deeper than the Rooster tales. I also like the Blue Fox spinners. I have not fished the vibric but given my dislike for the standard rooster tails, I doubt I'll buy any. Another brand you might try is Joe's Flies. I have caught a lot of bass on those.
  2. I didn't know you ever met my son.
  3. On my spinning reels, I unscrew the drag completely as if I were removing the spool, then I write with a Sharpie on the spool what the line weight is. I haven't done anything on my casting reels except I try to keep the line weight in the middle of the rod's recommended line weight. ie. if the rod is rated for 10 to 20 pound line, I probably have 14# on it. You could probably write the line weight on the foot where the reel seats to the rod, underneath if you didn't want it to show. Sharpie can easily be removed with rubbing alcohol.
  4. Forgive my ignorance or my mental block... what's a plug knocker?
  5. I heard your boss on Rush as well. The solution is really quite simple. parents, tell your children to stop putting motorcycle parts in their mouths. Seriously, this is all a tragedy. And we wonder why we don't manufacture anything here any more. I read recently (maybe here) Fender guitars have to ship their guitars to Mexico to have them painted because they can't get past EPA laws in this country to allow them to do it here. The .1% lead law is just another instance where removing 99% of contaminants, like air pollution, and making air quality more than acceptable, costs millions, but removing the last 1% costs billions, bankrupts the company and doesn't add 30 seconds to your life. My father told me the story about the time my great grandfather, shortly after coming to this country, took his wife to a hill overlooking a steel mill and said to her, " See that smoke coming out of those stacks? As long as that smoke is there, I'll have a job."
  6. I have to admit some of the Storm swimbaits as well. Also, a selection of odd jerkbaits, and some assorted plastics. This year, I plan to take some of that stuff and throw them into the nastiest, gnarliest areas I can find, hoping to lose them and lighten my load. With my luck, that would be the stuff I'd never lose. ;D
  7. I've caught pike on lots of different lures from Sluggos to buzzbaits. A black buzzbait caught my PB to date. He hit the lure 4 different times in 30 minutes before I caught him. I have read where red and white lures are best for pike so you might try something like a Dardevle in red/white. I picked up a couple and plan to try them this spring. BTW, also had a pike tear up a Ragetail shad pretty good one time before he bit it off.
  8. All of this just goes to prove...."you can't fix stupid" ;D
  9. I bought a couple packages of the toads for this year. I hope they work!
  10. My pet peeve is "chomping at the bit" It's champing, CHAMPING. Def: to bite or munch noisily.
  11. Are they as productive as I've been led to believe or do they, like other lures, have a time and a place. If they are more productive, say than Rapala, what makes them so?
  12. I'm hoping to try one this spring but I haven't decided which pattern to buy. I bank fish so I have to be careful of rapidly sinking (expensive) lures, as I have no way to retrieve them from snags. Still considering the Mossback Shiner.
  13. I'm seriously considering trying a Lucky Craft pointer, but at the price, I want to be sure I make an educated purchase. My local Gander Mtn. and Dick's both stock a few. Not many colors or styles but a few. Specifically I was looking at the 100SP pointer in either Aurora Black or 100SP female Bluegill. They also had a 78SP female bluegill. I don't see the bluegill listed on L.C. website, so maybe the bluegill is old or new. Has anyone used either of these colors/patterns? Do you recommend the 100 or the 78?
  14. I was asking a few questions here. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1234618478
  15. Disco music ----> X2 I personally liked the styles in the '40's and '50's Women (and men) dressed so nice.
  16. I sold my first house myself. The most important thing, DISCLOSE any defects, ANY! Even if you think they aren't important. And if your house is pre-1976 I think it is, you must get a lead paint disclosure form. Selling your house yourself can be kind of a high stakes poker game, sometimes. I had a buyer already lined up for my house when he decided he wanted to renegotiate the price, to compensate for the fact that he might have to rip off 2 roofs and put a new one on in a few years, even though I told him the age of the roofs. He knew I was building and had a new house I was moving into in a couple of months. I simply put the house back on the market. When he called to ask about the renegotiation, I gave him the bad news. He decided right then and there to accept the agreed upon price. As stated above, be sure and have a REPUTABLE attorney do the paper work.
  17. There are people in California that would disagree with you.
  18. I forgot to add, Crappie Nibbles. For me, they work well.
  19. Didn't warn the public about the dangers of cigarette smoking???? What did she want? the cigarette company to have someone rip the cigarette from her husband's mouth everytime he tried to light up? She could have done that. She's just as guilty. It's called personal responsibility for one's actions.
  20. I don't know, I think they're ALL commie states, anymore. ;D
  21. I have no complaints about my Prodigy baitcaster
  22. I just use the Plano boxes. What are you wanting to do different? Do you want to sort by size, depth or color. Or maybe use smaller boxes for ease of carry? Are you looking for organizing or carrying hints?
  23. Colors. What colors are you guys using or thinking about getting?
  24. Nothing, I'm on a diet
