I caught fish on my new Tatula LT spinning.
Roger that. thanks!! I tend to run the drag loose on spinning reels. I love a fish run on a spinning. its very dramatic.

Musicals...
I love musicals. it takes some imagination and an open mind. you have to mentally fill in the blanks created by live actors acting and singing. I dont sing showtunes or anything, but I have seen most of the huge broadway productions. I have been trying to find Hamilton tickets for my wife's birthday. this is single-handedly the most fun about being alive - we all get to like and dislike ANYTHING on the planet. there is not right or wrong here. some people hate bass fishing. hahah.. you do you. if you find wrong in it..it is more about you. haha.. live and let live and enjoy exactly what you want to enjoy. no pressure. having done both, I would love for you to test that...hahah.. great phrase tho.

Catching 12-14" Bass?
I'll do a tournament one day. I still have lots to learn about bass fishing in general without the added stress of competition. having said that, I can picture myself doing a jubilant fist pumping the sky at the simple 5-fish limit. all baby steps for me.

Fishing. No coffee in the morning.
my abstinence of coffee on fishing days appears to help. it is easier for me to feel hydrated. I dont feel thirsty right away. I wake up pretty well when I first lay eyes on water. the anticipation for the day is drug like. the drive is a bit sucky without a hot cup off coffee to sip on. I have been bringing a can of fizzy water instead. I pee clear at the boat launch. (TMI?)

Weightless Senko. Tex-rig versus Wacky. logic choosing between them?
I'm talking specifically about the Yamamoto Senko stick worm. I tend to go with it Tex-Rigged on a 4/0 Gama offset worm hook. last week my friend fished side to side w me. he was Wacky Rigging it. I do admit, he did better especially with the larger fish. you use the two setups interchangeably? or one specific to conditions? I can't seem to wrap my mind around it. I think my Tex Rig is more weedless? but he didn't seem to snag up anymore than I did. I have since move on to using this set up on a bait caster. simple 12lb flouro line. I am headed to the CA Delta soon, and just pondering the setups. I will go Wacky this time. for sure. on the Delta, I might use the Spinning since I rarely dropshot the Delta, and could free up a bait caster. dunno.

I caught fish on my new Tatula LT spinning.
I got the reel slimed right away. its a fine reel. casted just like any other spinning I've owned since line is just peeling off. the drag feels fairly robust. the bass were impressed for sure. one thing, I close the bail, and I have to take the time to pull the line up taut. this reel will lay line down outside the spool sometimes. more often than my busted up Vanford. I think comparing the 2500's, the Tatula is a tiny bit smaller. I spooled it with Ghost Suffix 20 with a 10lb flouro leader. I have the reel on a Dobyns Medium Kaden. they seem to jive fine. I tried to use that anti reverse switch to back-reel a bass fight and I was a hot mess. "let me put that switch back to ON". I can see how that would work, and I think I need more practice, but I found myself loosening the spool absentmindedly by spinning it backwards. duh. my old Shimano should be repairable, and it is with them now. the Tatula will definitely stay in rotation. not looking so good for my Daiwa Procyon AL (or whatever it is called :)). I love my bait casters but there is no denying that I am getting very very accurate with a spinning set up. so fun!! all of it. so fun.

Miles of Weedbeds
or punch a bait thru to see if anyone is home at the bottom?

Kayak cart
I agree 100% that the Hobie cart is more costly than what you get for the money. but it works. and it is fairly compact, so you can put it on your kayak during your day on the water. having my wheels with me saved me when I had to emergency beach during a freak windstorm. I was happy to have them so I could drag my boat up a hill to the nearest road. dang! you're dragging your Hobie on the concrete? I do on occasion and it is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. my Hobie is getting rough, but am trying to delay it.

Pedal-drive kayakers; you forget paddle, do you fish?
I drove 1.5 hours to Clearlake today. Sleepy, tired from an exhausting work week. Loaded up kayak into the water, jumped in and reached for my paddle…..screech! I forgot it. I can picture it leaning against the wall in my garage. I look down at my pedaled drive and head into the lake. If I’m being honest, it’s unnerving not having a paddle. I had to fish conservatively and stay out of the weeds. If I get caught in the weeds and I guess I’m swimming my kayak out. If I was with a friend, I’d beg for half a paddle, and buy lunch. Worst case scenario, I could have pedal drive failure. I never realized how much I use my paddle to reposition. I fished 6 hours and got off the water when the wind picked up. I didn’t want to get blown into a weed bed. the rules are two modes of propulsion. I caught a bass on my third cast. That single fish made me stay out. Haha.

Catching 12-14" Bass?
I can't target fish by size. well, I guess I could choose smaller baits. good luck!! I think getting a limit would be my first goal. a quick limit to take the heat off the situation.

anyone using the MicroPole on their kayaks?
thanks!! I've been trying to remember YakGadget. driving me nuts. I want one of their horizontal rod holders.

Do you find solid colored Ned worms to be generally more effective than those with flake or any sort of sheen to them?
no denying that the vanilla Green pumpkin is my most effective color. but last week I tried the California Craw which is mildly bedazzled, and I also did well. I'm just guessing mostly when I try colors.

anyone using the MicroPole on their kayaks?
you are probably correct on all counts. i seem to be in deeper waters often. thanks for reality check.

anyone using the MicroPole on their kayaks?
I like it. I like it a lot on paper. I would get the attachable battery I think. but hot-darn it is expensive!! like trolling motor money!! Anyone using one? you love it?

St Croix Victory Spinning rod. real world reviews?
I am eyeballing the Victory VTS73MLXF. mostly as a drop shot rod. it has my prerequisite drop-shot sinker holder tab in the right location!! it's perfectly located! rod looks good aesthetically if that counts. the numbers look right. we liking this rod? this will probably send my Phenix Recon into the rod tube for other duties.

Best Pedal Kayak (see below)
I wonder if that Lynx can handle big water? it would be a sweet small river rig.

How much do you tip a guide?
I dont fish with guides often. only once domestically for LMB. guide was a 17 year old kid. he hustled. I work with his dad on occasion in a Civil engineer vs. Contractor capacity. Dad must have insisted his kid find me fish. he did. I kinda sucked that day. used guide rods which were all lefty reels and surprisingly awkward feeling. I backlashed a few times, and lost a lure. but I got a PB at that time. hardest working young person I have ever met. great conversation skills as well. my friend whispers to me, " I might give him all my money in my pocket as a tip". (I paid for the trip). at the end, I put in $60, and my buddy did indeed do a pocket dump. that kid was shocked. he earned it and I at least wanted to pay for the vision 110 I sent away. hahha. in Mexico, I was super young. 20 maybe. the guide was really just a local dude. I gave him cash, and all my fishing clothing, and Tevas. I came home with empty luggage and my rod tube. hehe. it really depends on the guide and situation. in Oregon, walleye trip - I hated the guide. he would yell at me, catch himself, and turn all nice..only to yell again. I didn't tip. my brother did. forget that guy. he ONLY knew how to fillet fish. cleaning one whole stymied him. we had to do it. ridiculous.

Measuring board storage
make a sheath for the back of kayak seat? I think fast access would be a plus. on a side note, I am kinda shocked those things dont float. I watched a kayak guy in a tournament cuss himself out once. I would glue a section of yoga mat to the entire back side of that thing. make it quieter as well, I imagine.
