I am suprised how efficiently you Kayak anglers can fit everything into your hull.
As I understand it. The hatch would need to support weight so you can stand on it. and most people don’t open the hatch all the time. I rarely do unless I’m desperately changing out crankbaits. It’s where I keep my hard baits. I don’t like opening it because that’s where the water that sinks me will enter. Haha. I like it slammed shut. Items used often gonn by into the side pockets.

I want one
Doesn’t look like a lot of room for two guys casting.

Pitching tubes
Anyone know how to punch a tube? I think getting the heavy sinker into a tube would make so streamline. I’ve seen a guy do it, but I didn’t get a chance to see how he rigged it. I have a1/2 oz titanium sinker that’s fairly small. Might not be heavy enough, but the bait would be ultra compact so I don’t know.

What would you throw in this grass?
maybe a punch bait?

FedEX gives me heartburn.
I was in the middle of my presentation when the FedEX guy showed up. I excused myself mid sentence. I asked the guy, "I thought you were coming Monday?". and showed him the web notice. he laughed and asked, "so you want it or what?"....hat in hand, "yes please". (he wins)

FedEX gives me heartburn.
I haven't done the math, but out of maybe 12 packages (most of which are fishing related) I remember ONE PACKAGE getting to me without drama. ONE! the rest is a total dumpster fire. every Nocqua battery has been lost and found. I begged the lady to drop it off at UPS for me, on the last one. she laughed and said, "err..no" I even promised to UPS her some CA wine! (we are now talking friends). one out of 12 is sorry odds. I just ordered gifts for my fishing friends. I was so saddened when I got the shipping notice and realized it was FEDEX!! oh no!! sure enough. I check tracking. they said it would deliver on Monday the 20th. in time for Santa to drop off gifts. I get home yesterday (Thursday - 4 days early), and see the tell-tale postIT on my front door. yup. they attempted delivery. I turn the note over to sign it, to give them permission to just drop it off. NOPE..they scratched out that section and put a big SHARPIE "N/A". I have to be home. GET THIS. they said they will try to deliver it Monday. I bet dollars to donuts they try today, or Tuesday. it won't be MONDAY at all. I have a presentation to give today. I am doing it from home to meet the guy. but since I am home today..it might actually come Monday. hahahah..

Ironically, I find quality sunglasses to be a fairly safe investment. I buy sunglasses tailored for the fisherman. I think they stick to my head better, than say wearing a pair of driving lenses that have very little friction on the side of my giant melon of a head. the pitbull, braid cutters? I know for a fact they sink fast as heck!! I am on my 4th pair, and this time my new kayak has built in tethers I utilized. no more fear. AWESOME point!! I tend to lose gear when I am frantic and excited from a big catch. enter the Cal-Coast Donkey leash. I unhook fish, and donkey leash it and put it back in the water. this gives me time to clear up my thoughts. I almost fumbled my iPhone by juggling the bass and phone, net..the line, the hooky sharp thing... donkey leash.

We don't want MORE FISHERMAN
I know this. The Pittman Robertson stuff is the Feds contribution.

We don't want MORE FISHERMAN
I looked it up. first few articles confirm 100% fees still go to wildlife. I just watched a show about it a few weeks ago.

We don't want MORE FISHERMAN
I did a quick thread scan. Awesome inputs. only a few mentions of funding. Pittman Robertson act (sales tax stuff) and state level funding from the license fees; the money makes things happen. If the hunting and fishing fees dried up… we would lose. I see lots of fishing pressure. Just forces me to try harder. I play the cards I am given and I’m having do much d**n fun.

Good Sportsmanship
People have gotten strange. PreCovid. I had a big mtn bike crash. I was knocked silly and was thrashing around on the ground in pain. Eyes scrunched shut. I know I was moaning loudly. Big wide fire trail. I open my eyes and I see mountain bike tires going by! They had to dodge my bike gear and body to get around me!! Two guys sneak past me so they wouldn’t need to help. I manage to get up. Bleeding. One guy did show up to help. He checked my bike. Aimed me down the hill and I ride to my truck slow. Nobody else offered any help. At home my wife took one look and drove me to the ER. haha. I don’t let others bug me. I do my thing. Help when I can. Help when I should. I’ve made great friends this way. Very little bothers me when I’m fishing. I’ve had tournament bass boat guys s-talk me. I just ignore them and pray for a giant bass to hit while they are yammering at me. Once it worked out. Divine intervention timed perfectly. Silence from the boat afterwards. Hehe

deep cycle battery
Don’t taste it. take some baking soda out of the fridge and mix it with water. Pour sone on the suspected acid leak. If it fizzes it’s acidic. seems like there at least several options to try before the finger trick. Having said that, there are some circumstances where a quick finger-trick is the go to move, before proceeding. But that is another discussion.

I fish lightly geared up. Small converted tackle box with maybe 5-6 sandwich ziploc bags filled with various plastics. Organized by fishing technique. then 3 3700 boxes with the rest. I’m compelled to over pack because on my kayak I’m really trying to maximize my travel efficiency. I’m not going back to my truck for anything. I see guys out there with huge kayak boxes. I’d have a meltdown organizing so much stuff. I understand where they are coming from. kayaks are a blast. So fun!!

New Curado 150 MGL

I saw the most amazing kayak balancing feat this morning.
I did stand the other day and put one goot up on a pedal. Pushing and pulling didn’t feel like an option considering water temps. summer. I’ll try. id love to meet K Fischer. I’d be love to fish with her and her man. They do so well.

Do you place stickers on your kayak?
I only ever get that tiny bass sticker. what does a $500 thank you sticker from TW look like? my local shop offered me a big awesome sticker for my kayak. I declined. They don’t pay me. I’m for sale for sure. But to date, they still take my money. No sticker advertising for them.

Anyone start using a left-handed baitcaster after years of using righties?
I can cast with either hand. Flip/pitch I’m better with my left. cranking the handle on a baitcast with my left? The wheels come off the wagon. Makes no sense!! I crank a spinning with my left!! Argh. i want to have a mix of reels. If I buy into BFS, I think it will be a lefty reel.

Those painful pet peeves!
Nobody would ever describe me as having a “ sunny disposition “. Im trying to change for the better. . I can’t let fishing have any pet peeves. So I’m happy to report. I have none with respect to fishing. none of the OP’s would register on my radar.

Quality Pliers
Okay. I do have 3/1 oil. I don’t love sticking greasy pliers into a bass mouth tho. It’s day is awful enough. Small favors I know.
-
Quality Pliers
Mine rusted. Some random brand from Amazon. I loved the side mounted braid cutter. I could really snip tag ends tight with this configuration. My last TW shipment I added the Gamakatsu pliers. I laughed when I got them. They are literally the exact same unit as my rusted out pair. Just a new color and badging. they will probably last the same two years with the same WD40 random wipe down. I like the Gerbers.

Do you place stickers on your kayak?
Yea. The no-skunk company is getting free advertising. not all stickers are logos.

Sixgills
I bought two. BOGO. I still have the heavy rod for punching. It’s on the heavy side IMHO. It works fine. I suck at punch fishing so I haven’t winched out a lot of fish. I will look for a lighter rod one day. the free rod was a spinning rod. Med. akylos, or something. I hated that rod. I did catch a lot of big bass on it tho. I couldn’t get the reel tightened down right. Fishing a fish, I could feel it clicking in the seat. It was also the nose heaviest rod I’ve ever tossed. It made my hand go numb. I gave it to a friend and he loves it. He did add ballast at the butt to make it feel more neutral with his reel. It felt like a medium heavy to me. shipping was slow the time I bought mine.

Do you place stickers on your kayak?
Yes. I only know OSO which is no help.

Do you place stickers on your kayak?
Thread took on more seriousness than I imagined. Here was my jumping off point. I will venture into the Pacific Ocean. I’ll put ID on my kayak. Makes perfect sense. The coast guard doesn’t cover the lakes i bass fish. The sheriff dept does. They check on me all the time.
