  1. Oh. I’ll be there April - may. It’s fire then.
  2. I’m not great with a skunk. But my sour mood magnitude is directly proportional to the number of fish my friends gets. it’s a bad feeling gooseegging a day when friends are giddy and hauling them in. That means I suck, and i can’t blame the fish. But it lights the fire in me to get back after them.
  3. I say yes! Those guys with float tubes are usually minimalist. id go with a tube tho.
  4. My friend is absolutely dominating us this winter with a yum dimger. 4 to 1 easily. Black and blue. My same color senko isn’t even coming close. I have some. I cut them short like a TRD finesse to use as jig trailers.
  5. 18 mph winds predicted. The GOOD was they never materialized. Slight breeze all day. I dare say “ tranquil” almost. The BAD thing, we strategically planned our route to fish with the wind in mind. We made out long hauls and headed back to closer and safer harbors for the wind prediction of 11:00 am. We should have stayed with better waters longer. The main lake body. UGLY. I got a 3.something fatty bass right from the get go. And with a crank bait - which I am not confident at all with. It was perfect. I could feel the crank tapping on rock tops , then I got the fake-hits of it kissing the tops of trees. Then BLAM! Fish on. And that was all. 8 more hours of fruitless fishing. My friend got 4 smaller fish with his Neko. I got cocky and tried other things since I was on the board. So ugly. One point I kinda quit fishing hoping our third friend would score a bite. He skunked. I would back off and let him have first crack at our best guesses. brutal. I’m tired. No real food, and I didn’t drink enough water. Uugglee! But fun. We had gut wrenching laughs.
  6. I have a Compass and wanted a new kayak. I tried a PA but only a 12. It was immediately clear it wasn’t for me. I tried the 360 actually. It was so cumbersome and slow feeling. And loading it into a truck while doable, wasn’t a joy. I backpedaled and bought an Outback instead. I wanted the option to install motor if it ever seemed like a good idea. good luck in your search.
  7. My first day out with kayak. I didn’t have a box. I kept my rod in factory holder. Puts it in mortal danger of my cast. a few hours in it happens. I catch my rod, backlash bad, and manage to yank rod from holder and send it into the lake. I was snagged so I pulled it out of the water. Now? I have rod situational awareness. I haven’t done it since. I put a sixth holder on my box for Clearlake tomorrow. Normally five rods is plenty.
  8. I have a very humble Hook Reveal 5. It’s pretty good. It was so easy to install in our Hobies. The transducer mount is d**n near intuitive to put in. im not a FF expert, but it works . I do admit floating next to a friend in his kayak, I’ll look at his graph and it shows structure better than mine. could be our settings, but I don’t think so. It doesn’t bother me too much. Kinda. If I make sure all my openings are secure I can go over in mine I think. I’ve gotten it Very very wet before. Huge waves.
  9. My wife makes veggie smoothies. Which means I drink one on occasion. this morning I just laughed and slugged it down. The color was awesome - for a bass …… now to go poop myself
  10. I’d throw whatever the fish like. I aim to please. ?
  11. I just put a drop of oil on it. Hell I only own oil.
  12. Two years as an addicted bass fisherman. Right after I bought a kayak. I grew up in El Paso. Not a lot of bass fishing there. Some, not lots.
  13. How is it fishing? Strangest weather. Such warm days. I’m confused, the fish have to be as well. my bait shop says it’s on fire, but I think they always say that.
  14. I’m going to fish the CA Delta more often in my kayak. Until now, most of my visits are from the back of my buds bassboat. My style is to fish slower. In the boat he keeps it moving too quickly for me to really work an area.
  15. I think you’re doing fine. Not sure how you run a crank thru vegetation, tho. fishing for me is about trying baits until you find one that inspires the bass. For me it’s usually a plastic worm Then I get to try different presentations. Maybe focus more on specific tactics. sounds like you need to drive further to better waters. Or by a kayak.
  16. What clicker? The drag? I skipped fishing today to spend more time with family. My new combo was whispering in my ear! It can wait.
  17. Storing (in kayak rod holder)such a rig has to be a PIA. Hook at the end and a sinker almost two feet up.
  18. HELP?!! I am CINDERELLA! I do it all. cleaning, cooking, etc. I knew this going into my marriage and I am very fine with it. I am more modern in thinking. I dont assign gender roles to stuff around the house. single dudes need to do it all. they didn't get married to get a servant. (heck..maybe they did!) my wife's superpower is making money. she does the investments and savings. hell, last night she stayed up into the night organizing our tax-stuff. I am a rich (relatively rich) man because of my wife. there is an old proverb in Chinese.."Half the sky....".
  19. Here is mine. Had to rig up two more spots for rods. I used some strap aluminum and pvc I had laying around. I wanted a one hand carry, so I could move something else with my other hand. It has a handle that flips up. I will make a crate for my other kayak since my brother is coming to visit. Hope to stay under $5, so I see zip ties in my future.
  20. Shimano BFS reel, Phenix feather rod. I put it together with excitement. Tie on a tiny 1/8 bait. Hmmmm, reel feels crunchy. Crunchy? I let it rip. It goes five feet. I don't understand? Closer inspection. The shop put so much line on the spool it was rubbing against the reel’s chassis! I get rid of a fistful of line and it’s now smooth. 2nd cast goes onto my tree. Oops. I’ll go to the park this morning with a tiny casting plug. I did flip that tiny lure a crazy distance. This is going to be fun. A bigger fish will be interesting.
  21. I probably do it wrong but I have taken a lot of fish. it is my most productive method. I cast it out away from me. pull line tight, and either soak it without movement, or jiggle it a tiny bit. nothing?, I spin the reel handle to pull it towards me, and pull line snug..and repeat.
  22. I made mine out of a Milwaukee tool box I bought from Home Depot.
  23. I’m not great at c-rig. But it looks so fun. help?
