  1. Yesterday I was in a sour mood. I tried to fish, but my vehicle neglect bit me in the butt. It didn’t make it. My truck had to limp home. Then to the shop where I begged the guy to please fix it fast because, ‘I really want to fish Clearlake.”. I made it up there today. Pulled out into the main lake and it was like a town meeting. Biggest bass tourney of the year! I missed the memo. Lots of bass boats shoulder to shoulder. I navigated around the armada and found a big open spot. One fisherman says,” I’m not sure that guy knows what he is doing, looks like he is just drifting around” haha. I don’t know what I’m doing! So true! But I had open space. I started casting. Splash! I lose a giant. It rubbed my leader hard against my kayak and snapped me off. I was bummed, but kept fishing. It was like someone flipped a switch. I had 5 for five back to back. Nothing big, but five cast and five hits! It tapers off and I settle in. I lost count. I boated a 4.5 and lots of 3’s. Only 3 dinks really. I was so excited I didn’t take many pics, and my iPhone was aiming really high. Haha. Once I started hooking up, I was like I the hottest girl at the dance. The boats crept in. One guy was very cool and asked if he could pull up,closer. Yes! I’m cool with it. I fished a short day because the wind really came up. My kayak and wind dont get along. I had a wonderful fishing day. Wonderful. Good mood Wednesday!
  2. Never. Weird. But my bass are tiny
  3. True story. I cast out a jig. Despite the DC reel, I get a slight overrun. It happens when I don’t crank the reel and let it freespool accidentally afterwards, really. anyways. It was an easy overrun to mitigate. I peel off some line looking for the sound nicely packed spool below. Easy- done. I start reeling in the tangle on the deck of my kayak. !zoiiks! My line knots up! I had to cut it there and pull my jig back like I was hand-lining. I look and there was a bass coming towards me holding my jig! It was swimming towards me. It is impossible to set a hook by hand, trust me I tried. The bass then spits my jig. It held it fir a long time.
  4. Wow. That the Delta! my serpentine belt shredded within eyeshot of Clearlake. I flipped a uturn and limped it home. I’ll try tomorrow after truck is fixed.
  5. Thank you for the recommendation. I like them.
  6. Hell, I starve while fishing. I do however have a regular ice chest that fits my compass.
  7. That pad kit is sick! Expensive right? And your color choice. White. Does it stain?
  8. I’ll suffer and grind thru the troubles. If it gets really awful, I’ll go home.
  9. Yea. If I happen to blind cast onto a bed. It gets wild. but just casting to the banks and trees, it’s been surprisingly effective. Green pumpkin 6” Zoom lizard. I think I’m the only one buying them from this one store.
  10. Thanks. Yea. The keitech s have a 2/0 hook. Thanks again. I’ll look for those.
  11. Today I just stood up and turned to the side. If I fell in, it dawned on me I would be doing a swan dive thru my ...well you know. you beach it and get on terra firma?
  12. What size hook is on those jigs? im using the Keitech version 2 football jigs for my finesse rig. Love to find another option.
  13. I started with a gamagatsu Size 1 baitholder hook. I have a few left. Caught a pile of November bass with them. 2-3 lb fish. I kinda gravitated to the same hook in 1/0 size. Took plenty of fish. Even got a few this morning. They were sucking the entire rig up. Had to carefully remove a few hooks from the gill side. Just cut the hook off the line and let it fall out. Had to rig back up a few times. this morning was all about leaving bait tangled in underwater structure. I was running out! I hit lunch and hit the store. I picked up a few packages of 1/0, and you know what? I grabbed some owner 2/0. They look perfect when rigging a larger bait like a lizard. the 2/0 Owner is a thin wired hook. I can’t see the additional weight affecting the way a drop-shot bait hangs and presents itself, will it? im going to Clearlake tomorrow looking for bigger bass.
  14. I’ll find out in about an hour. Going fishing. ‘’But it floated before and I added an alum tube filled with foam wrapped in tape that floats. The math works out. My other net that is heavier and uses PVC floats.
  15. You’ll need to run barbless hooks. lots of pike minnow there.
  16. For me it’s just not the boat. There is a truck. I subscribe to towing overkill - bigger is better. So now I’m driving a big truck probably as my daily driver. Where I live: no thanks. second: storage. All my friends pay for boat storage or have them at a parents house. My house has no boat storage. Add that cost. One friend pays $200 for sweet covered storage and rarely uses the boat cuz he needs to work overtime for - you guessed it, his boat and truck payment. it’s a vicious cycle. One friend put his boat in the water once. He hints for me to buy his boat cheap, but....storage and truck I got a kayak:)
  17. On a bass boat: I wear good shoes because I stand the entire day. My friend has never set up the pedestal Seats. I’ve never seen them
  18. Great fish. Warm welcome from Santa Rosa.
  19. Congrats. Off to a great start.
  20. I thought I lost my net. It was on the neighbor ’s hedges. I left it there when I hosed out my kayak. Duh. I ordered a replacement, and then while it was coming in the mail - I found my net! anyways. I gather parts. My friend had a lot of scrap aluminum tubing. He hooked me up. I hate the thought Of spreading invasive things, so I sealed it off from water and filled the handle with foam. I WISH I had the lime yellow handle wrap, but no - BLUE/BLACK. I think it looks okay. this new one is better than my old one simply for the fact the handle isn’t as girthy. It will fit the Yak-Attack paddle holder. now to slide a giant bass into it
