  1. Bass fishing is a puzzle. One day this works, the next day or even in the next few hours it changes. I love changing a technique or a bait offering and getting that first bite.,,,luck? No, there’s a second bite. Coincidence? Mmmmm. Let me try again. THIRD BITE! I love figuring out the pattern. It’s what getting that first “at least I’m not going to skunk” fish in the kayak means to me. they were hard fighting today. One fish was I undetectable. I just sat still and I heard my line playing against the tule like a fiddle. The line was moving! Moving slow. Set hook and out popped a 2.85. Netted and fist pumped the sky! the third fish: I saw it swipe at something on the surface. I pitched in my bait. HARD TICK! Wham. He dragged me, my lure, my kayak into the tule. Haha. 2.70. ‘’then my wife called, dinner time. ‘no skunk people! No skunk. Just a quick 1.5 hour trip after a tough day at the office. fish #2 and #3
  2. Looking at the FFS-MBR-723-1 Spinning rod. for dropshot rigs. Looking for some real world experience. It’s not the most esthetically pleasing package to my eye, but whatever.
  3. Leaning that way. Even the bait holder hook is placed in a well thought out location. Allows me to stuff it in a rod holder and my bait stays above the tube. Thx
  4. Phenix Bass Recon Elite Spinning medium 7’2” or: Dobyns Sierra 702? the numbers match. Same specs really. Cost within a couple of fancy coffee drinks of each other. Shorter handle on the Dobyns which is nice for a PFF wearing kayaker. mostly drop-shot rodding with the occasional Ned-Rig Hail Mary thrown in. Both seem like nice sticks.
  5. I’m skunked thus far with the flatworm. On the other hand, my zoom z-drop is killing them.
  6. Trolling isn’t for me either. It’s just boring for me on my kayak. My friends do really well on some lakes. But some lakes they suck. Like when I’m casting to cover. ‘’the truck is to know when to troll.
  7. ouch!!! 144 months of financing? a gross of monthly payments. d**n..screw that. you cannot turn that into good math no matter what you do.
  8. sounds like a blast!! see any wild hogs?
  9. How does it cast? Nice? I might buy that for my sister in law. She has the same mental block.
  10. The Simms ones have perforations where your mouth and nose are. Pretty free breathing.
  11. I have a few but the ones I gravitate to are my Buffs brands that I bought for hiking and work
  12. 100%. The reason it got away was because it was fighting for its life. It was scared. every bass I lost was a giant. was the bridge way up off the water? I find when I set the hook, I’m yanking up and the hooks are at the bottom. I sonetimes get crappie hook sets that way.
  13. I bet people cancel order when they get that email stating “ your reel will ship in two weeks”. haha.
  14. I’ll probably focus on a less expensive rod. Gotta stay under my wife’s radar. but yea. That would be sexy.
  15. Well. They got a few more in, or people cancelled orders. Oredered. mine is SLOWLY on the way. TW is like on Hawaiian Island time these day. Chill, not hurried. Relax Bra. ? gives me time to agonize over my rod choice.
  16. I’m still the constant recipient of assistance people help. I had a guy in a bass boat in a tournament explain to me why the bass were where they were at. I learned something awesome that day.
  17. My friend has the Nucanoe F10. 60ish lbs. Empty. it is a super standy boat. The seat is high, and he just stands like he is getting up off a lawn chair.
  18. I’m no expert. I think it’s water temps and longer daylight hours that put them in the mood. go deeper in the water with the drop shot?
  19. I’ll definitely will buy a clamp.
  20. Saturday I went fishing at my local lake. It’s a tiny lake. Crowded. i saw a guy floating around casting. I say hello and ask if he’s had any luck. “no. This is my third trip and I’m looking for my first bass”. We talked a bit and I said. Follow me. He is the slowest Hobie kayaker ever I waited and took him to a spot and said. “ throw a drop shot in there”. Not sure he knew what that meant. After figuring out each other’s vaccination status. I heel-hook his kayak and tie a drop shot on his setup. He’s a trout guy, so his gear was up to par. his first few casts into the Tules, he hooked a giant. He lost it shortly afterwards but we both cheered the successful presentation. It was awesome to watch!! He cracked me up when he asked “ tell me you just saw that!” he texted me the next day. He got the skunk off!!! Bless the drop shot!! I made a friend. Well. Not when he feels the addiction takes hold.
  21. Me too! 7’ Med Spinning. High viz yellow braid with 8 or 10 sunline flouro leader. Total game changer for me. ive always felt baitcast = bass fishing and maybe even subconsciously looked down on spinning gear. I thought it was reserved for those that can’t cast. Oops. I was wrong. Profoundly wrong. I’m getting very accurate casting my spinning rod. I’m trying to buy a new spinning reel that’s more expensive than any of my baitcast stuff. I think a second spinning setup will take me to the next level in my neighborhood.
