  1. I got this guy from Savage Gear, Pulse Tail Shiner in the White color. It comes with a treble hook to use. Thought it looked really close to the shad in my lakes. It was a Xmas gift so I’ve not fished with it yet. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SVGBTS.html?from=basres
  2. I got the 2.0 last year and only fished it a couple times. No bites. I Didn’t give it a fair shake. It was the all black with red feathers. Looks and sounds cool when retrieving it back. I’ll try it again this spring.
  3. Here’s a good thread. Made some of my own. Caught a few.
  4. This is a new one from Gambler called a Komodo. Looks interesting. This color is called "Red Hot."
  5. I ran across this today and thought it would pair nicely, its the newer Z-man Goat. It might have the same action as a Menace, but it could be a bit more durable. Just another option to look at. Color is "Hot Craw"
  6. I caught a lot of quality fish on that Swammer in the 309 color on a gill colored swim jig. It was my favorite new lure of 2020. paired it with this guy. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/6th_Sense_Divine_Swim_Jig/descpage-6SDSJ.html
  7. That seems like a perfect rating for finesse jigs as they typically have a lighter wire hook. Don’t need as much power to drive hook home.
  8. I give up on nothing, so this is a bad reply, so I’ll put it this way, I can’t catch a fish on a jerkbait or chatterbait. I think I’ve posted this elsewhere. I’m obsessed with making it happen, but it’s tough when it continues to lead to skunks.
  9. I bet a pike would take a swipe at it! I find lures of the type work better for smallies.
  10. Swim Jig. I fish a pond locally that has very big fish for my area. I catch most of the fish over 4lbs. on swim jigs. Doesn’t matter the conditions or time of year. Most strikes come when I collide it with cover. I’ve tried glide baits and bigger swim baits. Not a lot of luck.
  11. I’m sure I’m crazy, but my catch rate goes down when I tip soft plastics with the chartreuse vs using the original color w/ no die. I’m sure it varies lake to lake, pond to pond.
  12. it’s crazy cause that is probably the right answer, but I’ve not fished it since I was a kid. d**n good crappie lake I hear. I fish PL a few times a year and that lake will either be really hot, or skunksville. I wonder if I put more time there I’d be more consistent. I’ve had really good pre-spawn/ spawn trips. Really bad late summer/ fall trips.
  13. Hey KC guys, I’m trying to pick a lake in the area that holds a good population of bass that I can make my home lake. Keep in mind I’m on the MO side in Lee’s Summit, so I have Longview, Prarie Lee, BS, Jacomo in my back yard. Last year I fished Blue Springs a lot and had some good days and there are some big hybrids in there as well. Should I branch out? My boat has a 60hp Merc so Jacomo is tough with the hp rule. Any thoughts, ideas are welcome. Willing to travel a bit, but this is more like day trip type fishing.
  14. Usually I try and backup my opinion on reasons why, but I can’t explain this. I just flat out respect and enjoy BASS much more than MLF. My opinion and I can see why someone might feel the opposite way. Maybe I just relate more with the guys on that tour. ??‍♂️
  15. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Xzone_Lures_X-Tubes/descpage-XZTUB.html TOUCHDOWN!
  16. I used them a lot last year and I agree with everyone else they work great. I noticed the craws I was finding in fish's mouths had blue tip on them. So I marked up a lot of my craw trailers with the blue marker. Very easy to use.
  17. In this scenario I don’t fish. I am a junk fisherman through and through. I’m into tinkering with what works and what doesn’t. A Mad scientist approach if you will... Unless a lure gets hot, then I’ll leave it alone and fish with it for awhile, but I assume we all operate that way.
  18. Sounded like you were wanting crankbait advice. Here’s some I throw with success. 1. Spro Rk Crawler, (Mid-Depth, rip-rap & rock, any craw color) 2. Berkley Flicker Shad, (Shallow to Mid-depth, good trolling lure, multi-species, shad colors) 3. 6th Sense Movement 80x, (Shallow-depth, above the grass, shad or bluegill colors) 4. Rapala DT Series, ( All depths, get a few so you can cover the water column ) 5. Berkley Dredger, ( Deep diver, need rod specific for deep crank, chartreuse, blue, white) 6. Spro Little John Md 50, (Mid-depth, tight wiggle-cold water, cell mate or chrome olive) 7. Strike King Red Eye Shad 2-Tap, ( Loud knocker, yo-yo retrieve, red colors ) 8. Jackall TN Lipless Crank, ( BB sound, straighter retrieve, rip out of grass/cover) 9. 6th sense Crush 50x, (shallow cover, clang it off everything you can, blk magic or gill color) 10. Lucky craft Silent squarebill 1.5, ( same as the crush, but silent, American Shad/ TO craw) BONUS TOP WATERS : Megabass PopMax (pop it, walk it, Whites/ blacks), 6th Sense Catwalk, ( walking bait, only had a month to play with it before it got too cold, but had a violent blow up on it that’s one of the most memorable catches I’ve had, bone color) Enjoy, I have to admit, the process of acquiring the lures can be very fun, minus the hole in your pocket. Good luck.
  19. I forgot I own a catwalk. Had one of my most violent strikes on it, walking it close to a lay down. Scared the crap out of me!
  20. I had very good results with the movement and the crush squarebill. The movement is like a subsurface wakebait. I’d burn it then pause it over grass. The crush is like most sqaurebills but it comes with great stock hooks and nice paint jobs. Haven’t tried a swank yet. Keep using them, they will catch fish.
  21. This is my vote. Dig that sucker into the rip rap. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Spro_Mike_McClelland_RkCrawler_55_Crankbait/descpage-SRCCB.html?from=BASRES
  22. This thing was a monster for me on my neighborhood lake/pond that has the exact structure and grass situation as yours. 6th Sense Movement 80X. Its a 1-3 ft wide-wobble crank. Burn, burn, pause. They would hit it on the pause. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/6th_Sense_Movement_80X_Crankbait/descpage-6SM80X.html
  23. I was fortunate to grow up with a couple different lake houses here in Missouri. One had a dock that was as simple as wetting a small ball of wonder bread and sticking it on a hook, and catching a bluegill on almost every cast. And it never got old. The other had a dock that had sunken brush that held some slab crappie. You had to work harder for those, but it was fun when you got one. Now a days when I’m at Pomme, My family knows of the “magic” white bass spot. If the largemouth fishing is slow, we matriculate over to that part of the lake and usually have a ball. My kiddos love using an a-rig. Have caught three at time a few different casts.
