  1. Bend the hook point up a touch. I was missing fish a lot more often before I did that.
  2. Electric Shad is money around docks. Everyone has listed the other colors I use.
  3. Thank you for that helpful info. I will have a 19ft Tracker 195 with a Merc 200hp. We have the ability to make a run around the lake if need be. I think we plan to fish from 8 in the morning to 8 or 9 at night.
  4. Hey everyone, I'm finally making it out to Stockton Lake in late April. I'd get a big kick out of catching a LM, SM, Spot and maybe even a Meanmouth. Would anyone be willing to point me to a general location on the lake to put the boat in where all 4 species would congregate this time of year? I believe @moguy1973 mentioned the Masters area in my post this winter about best Smallmouth lake in the area. The lake is currently 5 feet high and 52 degree surface temps. I'm guessing I should be hitting around the spawn or close to it for some of them, the moon will be full the day after I fish the lake. Pitching brush? Still a wart/rk crawler bite in April? Jerkbaits? Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance.
  5. Even in the winter, my local pond has so much residual muck and slime that jigs are mostly a no go. I use texas rigged weightless or very lightly weighted. Now, swim jigs are money and probably contribute to more fish catching than anything texas rigged. Honestly I get bored, because I can catch them on a swim jig, or a senko everytime.
  6. Darn it, I was about to reply with the Gambler Burner, but you beat me to it. For some reason, I caught more on that than the Zoom and Rage.
  7. Rapala Original Floater and a Zoom Lizard.
  8. Pomme de terre was 10 feet high, chocolate milk and mostly low 50s water temps. I fished midlake and had a rough go. 3 dinks on a spinnerbait is all I could scratch out. The buck males were in the flooded brush. Never could figure out where or what the females wanted. I bet the fishing will be excellent once the lake clears up and lowers a bit.
  9. I’m hitting Pomme de Terre this week. I’m not expecting much as the water is 10ft high, muddy, and only 50 degrees. I’ll post a report. Gonna fish for 4 days. Hopefully I’ll cobble together a pattern.
  10. 2.8 Keitech crazy flapper. My favorite Ned bait.
  11. I used to be that way, and then for some reason this spring that’s the only two lures I can catch a fish on. It’s been windy and muddy so that would make sense though.
  12. Anyone ever tried this and had success? I was thinking of trying it due to my waters being very muddy lately, thought it might give out a bit more thump.
  13. Colder water, less action = Zoom Chunk Warmer water, more action desired = Googan Bug style baits.
  14. I use owner blockhead 1/32 in ponds.
  15. I’ve only used the standard size for both. If you wanted a smaller profile with a lighter head you could move down a size.
  16. Perfectly summed up. I have never got a bit in open water, but they’re the first lure I’ll tie on in this situation.
  17. I’ve replaced my all my fat impacts with XZone. Fish catching has gone up. More thump, wag and roll in my opinion. Looks fishier in the water, and has scent infused. (And I’m not pushing them because they’re a sponsor, they really did seem to catch more for me). I only use them on jigs and underspin applications. Not sure of their ability on other ways to use them.
  18. You beat me to it. Had lots of success with the heaviest version of this in grass situations. Good call!
  19. Fished Blue Springs lake Monday. Water temps were 42-45. Had a 2-3 feet of vis. Most of the fish I marked were suspending in 15-20 ft of water off main lake points. I did not have any luck with those fish. Tried fishing shallow with flatsides and rk crawlers. They didn’t want cranks. Finally got a solid fish with a wacky rigged trick worm. And a couple dinks with a Ned. Probably a couple weeks before we see them start moving up shallower in numbers.
  20. We must have the same craws here in mid Mo.
  21. Im in agreement, I’ve thrown every presentation at fish in this scenario with not much luck at all. I went yesterday and could only find fish in my lake suspended in high in 15-20 feet of water on main lake points. I threw jerkbaits, crank baits, swim baits, tailspins, neko rigs. Struck out. 42-45 degree water, nice chop on the water, partly cloudy, stable weather we’ve had. Still zip.
  22. This post could go into other topics as well. Popular lures that don't work well for you: I've tried many hours fishing chatterbaits, finally got this guy. (I know, I know) What trailer to use on firecraw jackhammers: This had a falcon lake colored rage menace. Red and Orange Lures work? Yes, this 4lber liked it quite well.
  23. I’m on shorter rod bandwagon too. I use a Dobyns Sierra 6’ 8” medium heavy ‘ fast. But if I had a shorter rod, I bet I’d like it even more.
