haha, i wasn't calling any particular person dumb, Just believing in the idea that the method mentioned doesn't hold true, i've fished with a few people that have commented here.

Trevor I think he is talking about the comment above. The only problem is if you call someone out you shouldn't be making similar comments. "you" was meant in a general sense, not a particular person. I thought it'd be taken that way especially from someone who's met me on numerous accounts, man the internet is serious business... and that's still not calling someone a name, i didn't call anyone a name. what i said was misconstrued by some.

what exactly are you talking about and to who? i'm confused... i think you're posting in the wrong thread Rich :-/ this seems to be an educational thread, he's taking advice on tactis to pursue "the one that got away"

yea, I can read too... I know what he caught it on sure a smaller bait WILL catch a bigger fish, hell... my dad and i used a floating crankbait tied to a jig as a buoy marker once and saw it get destroyed by a huge bass just sitting there, many things WILL catch big bass, things you've haven't even considered i'm sure. But if you don't agree that your chances are much greater with a bigger bait, well sorry but you're just dumb, that all there is to it, I tell it like it is. like it was stated, fatter blades, more distribution of vibrations, it's pretty much common sense when comparing blades if you just lay the different types out next to each other on a table or something. Good luck, post the picture in a few years when you finally get 'em!

at least challenge yourself with a blue gill swimbait... not live bait i'd go back at night with a 3/8 oz black spinnerbait with indiana and colorado blades... big bait... big fish

Flooded lakes of Fairfax county...
my lake was really high today, highest anyone has seen it around here yesterday evening before the levels started to drop this morning... I went out for a quick walk around first time with a spinnerbait in mid day throwing near the new submerged bushes and the old bank edges to no prevail, walked around in the evening with a senko with the same strategy, no luck either. I did have an awesome night on Friday as the rain started coming in before levels rose, I was out in the dark with a buddy and caught my biggest fish I've caught here since I've lived here a year and a half later at just over 6lbs on a black spinnerbait waking it just below the surface. We baught 8 between the two of us and my buddy lost the ninth right by the bank edge, it was pushing 5lbs. on a buzzbait. The rest were decent bass no real small ones, but two over 5 caught in the rain in the dark, I think i have a new stratgey for my lake as it's been very unroductive during typical times of the day this summer. wow that turned out to be a novel, sorry.

Shenandoah Camping & Canoeing
Rich, for the last 8 summers I've been lodging/fishing/tubing and canoeing the Shenandoah with friends. I've used all 3 companies that are out there... Front Royal Canoe company, Shenandoah outfitters and Down River canoe company. Here is a list of the pros and cons of each Shenandoah outfitters: -further away than both by almost an hour -where they drop you is always shallow the whole float -the most organized of the 3 with a lot more equipment (tubes, canoes etc.) -more family oriented Down river canoe company: -this one is my favorite -less suplies/equipement (make previous reservations) -the floats go through much deeper pools then the other ones but also has shallow rapids in parts, better for swimming and such... -mom and pop run, family oriented but also good for the drinkers and partiers Front Royal canoe company: -my experience they were unorganized, not a lot of supplies -but IMO on the nicest part of the river -deep and shallow water The main thing to me is water levels, even though it's august there still is deep pools but not around shenandoah outfitters, the other two are better for that. I've had better fishing while floating with Down river CC. I have a lodging company if you want their information, i've never camped though but i've seen TONS of camping on all three companies floats. Throw nothing but a watermelon tube with black fleck and a brown tube with black fleck (forget about rooster tails and all that crap, these fish love the tube on the bottom, i've got some for you if you want to stop by the house) you'll catch tons, just drag it and pop it along the bottom, throw it up current and let it float down bumpin the bottom, fish the shade and put the rod down after 11 or so the shut down...

My Evolution Jig review
You need a really stiff flourocarbon weedgaurd it also has a lot of memory, once you dislodge said obstruction from the hook your weed guard remains bent and out of place and is very difficult to reset

My Evolution Jig review
my experience was that anything remotely firm easily pushes the weed guard exposing the hook and it snags anything it rubs against, even lily stems and small branches. Everytime I pulled it oversomething in or out of water it easily snagged instead of glazing over, like other wire weed guards do. I love EVERYTHING ELSE about the jig though, just not the weed guard. Again, the display of the jig underwater is unmistakeable and not duplicated by another. (to my knowledge)

My Evolution Jig review
I don't really have a particuler reccomendation, I've just never had that problem with the other typical jigs with WIRE weed guards, but those typical jigs don't display nearly as well as the evo imo, the flare on the skirt is awesome as well as the trailer display, I just wish I could get that display in the thick, it's one of a kind. I don't really find it neccessary to have a transparent weed guard in the water i fish, i wish it was offered eitherway, wire or flouro... but i understand why they chose that, the flare of the skirt leaves it very displayed i'd love a reccommendation for a heavy cover jig myself...

My Evolution Jig review
My initial response is eh, because on my first flip I brought back a nice stick I had to dig the hook out of, don't get me wrong the positives out way the negatives but for my type of fishing the negative is HUGE, and I didn't even get to examine the presentation before my first snag. I really only use jigs in HEAVY cover whether it's lots of timber, grass or lillys and I had a lot of trouble in cover, I was snagging more stems and branches than ever when I was creeping and crawling the bait over and through different structures. I believe this is due to the fluorcarbon weed guard(-). I really don't fish jigs in open water unless it's colder and this jig to me is an open water jig, better on rocks, shelves and drop offs not in the THICK. To me the fluorcarbon weed guard is a let down, it does dissapear, which is nice, but it doesn't protect very well in comparrison to some other jigs I use in THICK stuff, especially at 5 dollars a jig, but I do really like the skid plate and it works GREAT, the skirt flare is AWESOME(+++), it's like a cobra hood that flares out, as well and the trailer positioning caused from the skid plate is not duplicated by any other jig I'VE seen, it looks like a crawfish in defensive mode(+++). I'd like to say it's an all around awesome jig for open water fishing but not for MY type of jig fishing, which again is in THICK cover and because of that I give it a 3 out of 5 mainly because I was expecting better protection from the weed guard, and that's a BIG deal to me, especially at 5 dollars a jig . I am also disappointed it doesn't have a rattle. Again, My advise... use it in open water and near cover and structure but not in the middle of thick cover or structure, if you do, it won't last long as the fluorcarbon weed guard is easily really takes a beating when you snag something and it doesn't recover well, It gets bent and messed up after your first snag.
