FISH-A-PALOOZA in NOVA
Well, it's not exactly 100 yards...maybe 30ft...atleast where we usually launch, the main problem is getting something heavy over those darn boulders they put in the way. there is another place on the otherside, across from there simon, it's easier to carry a boat there but you still have to lift it 3-4 over a gate, you could push a skinnier under the gate i think, but the carry is still 50+ yards and my heavy *** boat was a CHALLENGE for 4 of us. If it's not a light jon that two people can carry don't even think about it, unless you have wheels.

Should I or not?
I fish with tubes and I go by the theory 1st bump inhale 2nd bump exhale, like everyone else said, when in doubt set that hook
-
Choosing, setting up, and fishing a tube.
I know exactly wha tyou mean by missing fish, try turning the hook out a little, it creates a different angle for the hook set and substaintially cuts down misses.

NO!! MIZMO! ;D 8-) here's the insider and steps on how to rig it, the weight is inside no more getting bullet weights snagged on lilly stems and wedged in rocks, if you fish tubes and don't fish these you really need to give it a try, d**n i should work for Mizmo haha 8-) http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.mizmo.com/insider04.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.mizmo.com/rigginginsider.html&h=380&w=180&sz=30&hl=en&start=6&um=1&tbnid=qti9OCoqNhEK2M:&tbnh=123&tbnw=58&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dinsider%2Bmizmo%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN I reccommend taking your needle nose pliers and hold the shaft of the hook with your hand and bend the stright sharp end of the hook to the right for better hook sets just a smidge like an 1/8 of an inch so when you look down the hook it's not straight anymore the hook end the penetrates the fish's mouth is now slighty pushed out to the side, get it? I can post pictures of said action if you need me to. This is the one bait I am very adamant about FYI: If you're trying to learn how to skip a baitcaster... IMO this is the best rig to learn with, this hollow body bait glides on the service and it has weight that isn't exposed like a bullet weight or jighead.

Hunting Run
What is the boat launch situation at Hunting Run? Can I back a trailer down a ramp into the water? I have a heavy Jon boat and carring it isn't an option, I need either a field or ramp that I can drive it right in the water. Please advise 8-)

Choosing, setting up, and fishing a tube.
I use tubes ALL the time and I mean all the time, I start with one and I basically almost always have one ready to go. I use nothing but 4" big boys, green pumpkin brown (half way down the page), by MIZMO, rigged with a mizmo insider. At night i use the Black Blue/Blue Pepper 5.5 grande either t-rigged or c-rigged with a rattle, you can't use the insider with a rattle so i t-rig with a bullet weight. You can replicate a crawdad bye jigging, a baitfish by jerking like a fluke, or a grub type bait by simly just dragging on the bottom, I have also used it on top of thick vegetation just dragging it across and getting smacked that way. IMO tubes are the way to go a crawdad is a Bass' steak dinner. Next time we meet up i'll show you, here's a link for mizmo, you can backtrack from here for different kinds of tubes, coloros and tips as well as ordering info. I've used many different tubes and I'm a firm believer in MIZMO MIZMO MIZMO get some MIZMO's for smallies and LM's http://mizmo.com/bigboycatalog.html

no problem, I've found this site offers alot of helpful articles just like that, just drag your mouse to the top where it says 'fishing articles' also on the regular site the the forum the search works very well and is very helpful I've found. Not to take anything away from here though, the search works great here as well.

Your largest largemouth
just under 4 not really post worthy but i'm very proud of this catch as my ridiculous determination paid off on it rainbow trout bass assassin, wouldn't have it anyother way as i couldn't get a fish off it for a long time and sure enough it paid off when nothing else worked, another reason i'm very proud of this particular catch.

FISH-A-PALOOZA in NOVA
tough, tough day, always a good time with Rob though, a day full of zingers and missed hooksets accompanied by a sun burn is better than a day on the couch 8-) Simon and Andrew, do you have any idea how bitter I was when you called and Rob hung up and informed me you guys were catchin' them on solid color tubes, I WAS FISHING A TUBE ALL DAY! oh well ;D
-
I Feel Horrible :(
eh, you fed some turtles, it happens... don't stop using good lures just because of one insident, it's rare a fish inhales a lure like that, that bad.

Need help own how to catch this pig
I had a similar scenario a few weeks ago I spent 6 different trips at least an hour each time after one fish, throwing everything, EVERYTHING from wacky senko's, regular weedless senko's, shakey heads, tubes, jigs, backwards tubes, lizards, ika's, BIG worms(diff kinds texas rigged) spinnerbaits flying by or dropping on the bed, buzzbaits at night, devils horse right above it, i mean everything and then one day, first cast... rainbow trout colored 5" bass assassin, my advice, try a fluke, based on my outing, try a few different presentations, may not work, BUT IT MIGHT! 8-)
