spitting out the crankbait
I think my cranking rod has more tow capability than a salvage barge! Generally when fishing cranks, I use my feet. When the fish hits, I step towards them allowing a slight slack, sweep like I am swinging for the fence, then dont give them any slack and tow them in. Objective is to put the fish in the boat, and I try to do this as expediciously as possible. Recon

Champion boxer v. champion Ulimate fighter
From a strategic stand point. I believe the UFC fighter wouldnt fair well in the boxing ring, a large part of his arsenal is removed. However I dont think a Boxer would fair well in UFC because a larger arsenal is not developed. Like the man said comparing apples to oranges.

History Buffs
Avid, First off the whole civil war concept is INSANE!! There is no friggin way I would wanna stand online and go toe to toe and let fate fall where it may. WW1 and the Civil War are facinating to study, although I am glad my career was in a different age. Plainly put, I dont think I would have the stones for that kinda fight. I have never been to a Memorabilia show, ever, I do most of my trading online, or with reputable dealers. The whole "show" crowd is so glitched with fakes replicas and down right forgeries its hard to find good merchandise. Lastly, I think Patton realized how significantly war changes everything in our lives, from social structure to the sacrifice of our own innocence. I would have to say that the fascination is in the eye, seeing things, morbid or not, that we rarely see. I couldnt tell you how many tanks Ive seen burning, how many arty shells I have seen fall, and the devistation is mezmerizing, perhaps not always pleasant, and usually gruesome, but something the mind finds facinating none the less.

How big is this fish?
Ok so heres what I did....I was bored lol. Average human finger is 3/4 inch wide. Printed picture and used digital calipers to estimate length at 19" Girth was measured per one side then doubled, then averaged by my log book, approximatly 15" used a fish weight calculator and came up with a rough guess of 4.51 lbs! Like I said I was bored......

Whats your favorite part of bass fishing?
I think for me its the Friendships you build. I love the morning breakfast table before the tournament. The companionship. sipping coffee and talkin poop about the butt kickin your about to deliver (whether you do or not). Then its the convoy to the lake, still dark outside. Saddling up at the ramp and the sun is just breaking. You can barely see, but you can smell the boats engines. Then the green flag and its game on. For me if I do well and fish are caught its icing on the cake, if not, its still heaven..... Recon

If you see a private lake....
A few weeks ago now I was sitting at home and heard an airboat fire up on the lake. Noone here has an air boat, so I went down to my boat and was amazed. As I was leaving the ramp and heading towards the air boat, so were 3 other home owners here. Needless to say the air boat went straight to the ramp, and left after a short discussion. It was kept very civil and was a very low keyed confrontation. While I completely disagree with sneeking into private ponds, It is in the interest of most land owners to have law enforcement solve the issue, or resolve it non violently. The bravado of talking of lead flying maybe much easier than actually making lead fly and end up in court, being sued by a tresspasser.

History Buffs
Muddy thanks for an image I dont think I can erase from my mind! Band of Brothers was awesome. Probably about as historicaly accurate as you can get. Very few flaws, only one significant. Albert Blythe Albert did not die in 1948, he went on to fight in Korea in fact, and had a quite distinguished career. I am friends with his son, Gordon. Albert and I also shared the same bday, june 25th, which also happens to be the day north korea invaded south korea, as well as the day of Little Big Horn! While there is some differences between the book and the movie, most are of no significance. Who was your favorite BOB person? I liked Lipton, I would have loved to meet him, but hes passed on now, and Lt Winters, who by the way is being considered for the MOH. I hope he gets it. Recon

Important message for caregivers of children.
Sickening! I remember when kids could trick or treat without fear, and when the gallons dial on the gas pump moved faster than the dollars dial! I am with you on this one, but Ill forgo the handgun, lots of better ways of dealing with this!! This makes me ill. Recon

Very FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!
Replica is 100% right, violence will only make matters worse. A calm head will prevail here. I dont believe the courts will consider these abandon, considering you have stored them there for quite some time, and the owners knew about it. I would simply call the cops, have them come to the property where the boats are, file a report about the motor being stolen, explain to them your conversation at the little league field, hand them the phone number of the guy who bought it, and I think they will resolve it in rather short order. Be polite courteous and professional, even to the man who sold the motor. Being anything less will just make you a bit less pleasant to deal with for the police, and their level of willingness to help will drop. I hope this comes to a peaceful conclusion for you!! Recon

Very FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!
River, Hey Bro, and yes I can call you that legitamatly, 23 year marine here. No violence stand on honor, you know how to do that I am certain. Let the law handle this. For you to resort to violence will only bring more woes and wont solve the issue at hand. Loyalty Honor and Integrity have their own reward. Replica it was clearly stated the person rented the home not the garage, legally he can only remove abandon property that is left on the property he rents or leases. Besides the fact of clearly knowing it wasnt abandoned. Semper Fi Recon

Man the deaths head is a monumental find! I also have some currency, and a few weapons intact. My favorite is an old m1 garand. I have some insignia and uniform pieces but not to much. I do have a canopy from d-day, a gift from an uncle who went through all that. Most of my collection is pretty inexpensive stuff, but nice none the less. I would love to get my hands on an authentic era luger, but whoa cha ching!! I do have a browning 9mm that is ww2 german era and chambered for 9mm. Oddly enough its resemblance to our 1911 is uncanny!

Sank his truck @ the boat ramp....
I saw something similar in a river, a very stiff current river. The vehicle was pushed about 30 yards down stream, to an area where the banks were perhaps 20 feet about the water.....I believe they used a helo to get it out, but am unsure as I didnt see the rescue.

History Buffs
Are there any other History buffs among us? I am a huge History nut, especially war history of the WW2 era. I collect memorabilia, and have some pretty cool pieces including a sight appeture from a mg-42 german machine gun (my grandad picked up in belgium). Just thought I would see if there are any others out there!

Political & Reglious Posts
Sure do understand why Glen has things this way, and love the site here. Just ashamed that everything isnt open for compelling discussion, because there will always be someone who has to be a wise arse, or who cant manage civilized comments. Ive seen it a few times here even in fishing topics. Its sad really. I am convinced as an example avid and I could definitly have a conversation in which we disagree, and both may even gain some perspective from the other. Its just sad that there are so many narrow minds who lack the education and wisdom to disagree without becoming angered.

Makes me sick.
hrm...well....considering the guy is wearing a nice championship ring, and judging by the looks of that trucks tail lights it looks pretty new, he appears to be nicely dressed enough, I figure he could probably buy fish. So now, I dont know how good a fishermen you fellas are, but my bass generally pound for pound is pretty d**n expensive once ya figure all the tackle gas etc etc, and I catch several dds a year....so as a food source try hot dogs. Hell pound for pound steak is probably cheaper. So lets not go the whole feeding the family route. Another question I would have is slot laws. when lakes start to show signs of population issues dont they usually impose slots.... wouldnt that show the importance of leaving large fish intact? (this is a question and not intended to be sarcasm) Fourbiz ^5 I dont think I could fish with him either.....
