  7. Yesterday I went back to the spot that I have fished once before and it was the same place that I got my first fish of 09. It was a about 58 degrees yesterday with a light wind and sunny and I was LOVIN IT! Boy when your out fishing it sure seems that all is right with the world again doesn't it guys? ;D I decided to try my hand at jig fishing again since that brought me luck fishing here the last time. I used a smalljaw black and blue jig and a rage tail spacemonkey in okeechobee craw. There does not seem to be a whole lot of structure at this place at all seems to be quite shallow and and not many places for the fish to hide so I searched for anything that was different that the fish may like. I decided to try the one spot here that I thought would be a little different than all the rest, it was deeper and their was a rock wall that I thought the fish may enjoy. Low and behold that seemed to be the spot that they were hiding in. My first cast out I landed in a tree >, after a few tugs my jig came loose and dropped into the water then blam! I had my first fish. ;D Woohoo it was great, he was not huge but it sure was nice to meet him.. Since I thought at this point that this is the spot they maybe holding out in I casted back out again and landed another. ;D I only had about a 1/2 hour here because I had to pick up the kids from school but it proved to be a nice and productive outing. All in all I managed to land 4 bass and 1 pickerel and they all seemed to be pretty healthy fish with the exception of the second one that I caught. I believe it probably had been caught before because it appeared to have an old injury to one of it's eyes but other than that it looked to be in good shape. It was great to be out and I hope to head out fishing again soon. Hope you all had the chance to do some fishing as well. I am really starting to love jig fishing and this was the first time that I had any luck with a black and blue jig too so that was another good thing for the day. ;D
  8. That is awesome Paul. I cannot wait until my kids are home for the summer. Nice fish and great frogs. Boy your little girl is getting big fast. Congrats on the great outing. ;D

  10. Nice fish. Congrats! ;D
  11. I have come across many snakes when I am out fishing and I find that if I leave them alone they leave me alone. Sometimes they come up right next to me when I am fishing. Most of the time I believe they are just soaking up the sun. Here is a pic I took of one last summer that was my fishing buddy for a while. This little cutie I saw the other day when I was out fishing.
  12. Congrats on your first of 09 ;D Nice pics too.
  13. Thanks everyone we had a great time. It was awesome to be able to get out and wet a line again. Skillet Matt always kicks my but in #'s and quite often in size too but sometimes I get lucky. ;D
  14. Awesome! ;D
  15. Way to go paul! Congrats ;D
  16. The ice has started to thaw on some of the smaller lakes and ponds around here so Matt and I finally had some time to get out and do a little fishing. The first stop that we made on Wednesday was to one of my favorite little places. I like to call it the bear hole because there are always tons of bear tracks all around this pond. Luckily I have not seen a bear there yet. The weather was a bit warmer but the water temps were probably about 40 degrees (if that) Matt was throwing a rage craw and some minda spearworms. Those two things worked well for him because he ended up with his first few fish for 09. one of Matts I was not so fortunate this day. I did manage to get two fish but lost both of them right on the shoreline. > Today after our kids left for a weekend with their grandparents we headed back out but this time we went to a new place that neither of us had fished before. Matt was throwing a Rage craw this time and ended up adding a few more fish to his tally for 09. Matts bass I took out a jig I got from smalljaw last year and a rage craw for a trailer. I am slowly getting the hang of fishing a jig and have learned that it is best not to "overwork" a jig. I started out dragging the bottom very slowly then resting for quite a period of time then giving it little "pops" and that was the ticket for today for me. Finally my first fish for 09! I hope you all had the chance to get out there and do some fishing too. It is still supposed to be pretty warm up here tomorrow again too so I am planning on heading out again so wish me luck.
