  1. I fished a west suburban pond today. Temps started around 52 and got to 55 by 3:00. I had a fair amount of activity with little to show for it. Saw some sizeable LMB following, making passes or nibbling the fly but it was very hard to seal the deal. Got two smallish clone SMB: Then this guy... But the larger SMB/LMB just didn't seem settled enough to really eat. But it is good to get on the scoreboard for the year and prove that the new boat can catch fish...
  2. Water sure is taking it's sweet time warming up... We have a couple more warms days on tap let's cross our fingers...
  3. Or ban the chemical fertilizers to take the choice out of hands of the irresponsible.
  4. First day out, fishing the new moon major. Water was 41.5 degrees (it was up to 46 degrees before the most recent weather tantrum) and way too much current. Oh well...
  5. I fished a northern MA river for four hours today and got zilch to show for it. 41.5 degree water, with way too much current. Early days yet...
  6. The annoyance is they are both factory props! Some factory sources say it is a fine combo, some say not. Oh well...
  7. Not getting a solid report on the compatibility of the aluminum version, I played it safe and went back the the glass-filled resin version...
  8. No Worries! I appreciate the help! I just wish a MG user with actual experience using the prop could contribute.
  9. I'm excited about spring Pike. Last year my biggest was 35" but I'm aiming to beat that this year. I only fly fish for them. The ramps on my favorite places are just about to open so things start to get going next week. I can't wait.
  10. Greetings! I have seen conflicting info about this combination. The Motorguide website lists this prop as compatible with the XI3, but the package says for 36v motors only and one review claims it cooked the wiring for his motor. I'm hoping the packaging warning is for older motors, but would not like to fry my rig testing it... I'm using it on a very light boat so the static load would be quite low and very rarely use the motor over 50% power. I would appreciate any experience that could be shared!
  11. Nice fish. What did you catch it on?
  12. Totally with you on that. I've been racing to finish getting my boat ready only to have to slam on the brakes as the front rolled in. And saturday they are forecasting almost 2" of rain... Ugh...
  13. The 34" Pike I got a couple weeks ago was caught at the end of the major period at 2:30 in the afternoon...
  14. Did a float with a friend on a western MA river. Started well with two fish in the first half hour but then the front came in and the remaining 3.5 hours were just pounding the banks with only one follow to show for it. Sure is nice to have a someone to run the net for you!
  15. I'm going to try to make it out both saturday and sunday. We'll see...
  16. Got out to a river in the north east. Water temp was 57 degrees. It was definitely a grind it out sort of day. I thought I would have to settle for my PB yellow perch when I got this gal. 34"
  17. I was out at dawn to catch the major period and the front's approach at a mid state pond containing bass and pike. Got neither, just a yellow perch and a black crappie swinging above their weight by taking a fly over half their length. Drizzle and finally steady rain chased me off.
  18. Another reason to use barbless single hooks! Hope your hook wound heals quickly!
  19. Has anyone been out to western/central MA recently and gotten a water temperature reading? TIA
  20. The board dropped this one from that last post:
