  1. I was just wondering. They show out of stock on the wm website, and I haven't seen any on stores lately.
  2. Not that I used them, but I actually have an unopened pack of sun perch colored Ozark Trail Hammer Hog soft plastics, but I haven't seen them in store in a long time. Anyone know if WM stopped making them? They smell strongly of anise even thru the bag.
  3. Scum frog or small bronze eye. Veritas plx, 7' h/f Revo S 6.3:1 20lb Hercules 8carrier braid
  4. Lake Martin has lots of em
  5. I've carried a scale on multiple occasions, got four five and six pound fish no problems with line dig. I get it though, people on this site often say things that make me chuckle, including things like 10 and 20 lb braid is too thin or you'll get line dig, when I watch people everyday including myself using very thin diameter braid without getting things like line dig problems. It just isn't an issue I've ever had, including getting snags that I had to break off.
  6. The reel I use most for it is 6.3:1, but yes.
  7. Yes. In my profile. I agree about using proven gear. "Right" is subjective.
  8. Yes it's me. Rarely meaning I fish practically every single day. I use a frog a couple times during the week. I'm not getting into a ticking contest with you. As far as out fishing me, I catch fish bigger than your personal best.. on video...just about every single day. This is a train you don't wanna ride dude, trust me. If you bothered to Google it, you'd find out that high speed and low speed reels are equally popular for top water frog fishing...depending on preferences. If your idea of having fun is trying to emulate other people while fishing, then by all means, do what's fun for you. I'll do what's fun for me and what works for me. It's a preference. You gonna start an argument next because someone likes blue and your favorite color is purple?
  9. My three favorite Abu Garcia rods have no finish at all. They're just graphite colored with the rod name on them.
  10. Gets it done for me all the time...
  11. Spending money on the latest/greatest is a good way to ensure you're always paying full retail price lol! If you need a new reel, and the current model suits your needs, jump on it. You'll get what you need AND save some cash. Win/win.
  12. How much frogging do YOU do? I catch fish 5 days a week... I'm not worried about how much line I can pick up and how fast, I'm worried about pulling them out of thick weeds and grass, and more torque makes it easier to do so when you have a 7-10lb fish on the line diving for the thick stuff
  13. Torque is a rotational force.
  14. I far prefer lower gear ratios for frogs. Reason: high speed reels = less torque. I use 5.0 - 6.2:1 reels for frogs, and invariably they dive down into the thick stuff, and I like having the torque to haul em out. The higher the gear ratio, the less torque.
  15. Came in to say this exact thing. This time of year, Bass are starting to push up a tad more shallow, but cold fronts will push em right back out. Sometimes, they'll stay shallow and just refuse to bite.
  16. I mainly throw powerbait pit bosses with a pegged 1/8oz tungsten sinkers. That's my go-to lure setup.
  17. Nice! Small jon boat is all you really need unless you do offshore saltwater.
  18. If you're ever headed to the baton rouge area, let me know. I'd hook you up.
  19. Smaller lures, light weight, and bottom contact. Fast or slow is up to you and the fish. I'm a finesse fisherman 95% of the time. In fact, the only power fishing lures I use are a devil horse, a chatterbait, frogs , and swimbaits...and I only rarely use them.
  20. I'd put you on some bigguns lol
