My review of the Abu Garcia Veritas PLX tournament edition casting rod
Finally got my hands on one despite it being backordered until dec. 29th. Mine is a 7'6" fast/heavy. In comparison to my 3rd gen veritas rod (white rod w black grips), the plx TE is a large step forward. Most noticable is that despite being identical in specs, the TE is fully 1/3rd thinner than the older rod. The TE has no finish, so essentially the rod IS the blank with minimal guide wraps. Gen3 veritas is 30ton modulus graphite, the TE is 36ton. The handle is carbon fiber, and very comfortable. Guides are micros, titanium alloy with zirconium inserts. Direct subjective comparison is that the TE is most definitely more sensitive, and feeling exactly what a bottom contact bait is doing is no problem even on soft mud. Full price, including taxes here in LA was $187.23. This rod punches above it's price point imo, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Got my new Revo SX. Some criticisms of Abu Garcia.
Does the release lever come loose, or just flipping it while fishing? Mine is a right hand model

Your favorite movies with fishing
I tried to watch gone fishing. Couldn't do it

Your favorite movies with fishing
Two of mine are Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men. I also like the fly fishing scenes in The Quiet Man.

We don't want MORE FISHERMAN
More fishermen = more $ for fish and wildlife departments = more public fishing areas = more conservation efforts. I give away a LOT of lures while I'm fishing....exactly like that. Good on you man....it's how we keep ppl interested in the outdoors AND ensuring public fishing spots stay public.

Favorite Winter Lures This Year ?
Same as my summer lures...just fished more slowly. Powerbait pit boss and ned rigs.

Tackle warehouse scam
Just an FYI: I have my card set up to alert me every time it's used. I ordered several items online from tw during the Black Friday sale. I haven't ordered anything else online since summer, or since bf. This past Thursday, my card alerted me to two attempted purchases, one in west Virginia, and one in Kentucky. Both were less than $5...people "testing" it to see if it worked. I immediately locked the card, cancelled it, and ordered a new card. Coincidence? Maybe...but the timing is highly suspect imo.

Shimano vs. Lew's Reels
In my opinion, it's: Shimano>Abu Garcia>daiwa>lew's

A change in my approach to bass angling...
Welcome to the light side of the force. We have punch and cookies here, plus we catch more fish Lmfao!!! Ive said here MANY times....I'm a finesse fisherman 99.5% of the time....baitcaster or spinning. Ive caught more fish finesse fishing than most of my power fisherman friends have lied about. Powerfshing catches active fish. Finesse fishing catches them all...active or not. We've been using spinning equipment for bass fishing here since the 1960's. Why? Because it works.

Kastking
Oh yes you can lol

Black&Blue vs Junebug
It's about what the fisherman prefers. I highly doubt that bass can tell the nuance. Junebug is dark purple...sometimes with blue flakes. The difference to the fish is simply dark vs light.

The Mind of a Bass
I'll say these few things: bass don't think. They act on instinctual reactions and physiological stimuli. A powerbait pit boss and a Ned rig catches bass year round for me. The rest...is up to you.

Ned rig tubes?
I use the bass pro magnum tubes...green pumpkin blue.

Anyone feel like your collection is complete?
That's my m.o. as well. Over the years, I've found I buy fewer things.

Fly fishing for bass?
Anyone fly fish for bass? I've never tried fly fishing, but I've ALWAYS thought it looked relaxing and fun. I understood it to be more of a bream/trout thing, but is bass fly fishing even a "thing"?

Anyone feel like your collection is complete?
I have a fiance. I don't want a divorce before we're even married lmfao!

Anyone feel like your collection is complete?
That's why I got the Revos. Alloy frames, should last a good long time. The SilverMax combos, etc are my "Don't feel like bringing the good stuff to the local pond" combos. That's kinda what I meant about having so many. I currently use them all, but at THIS point, I really only REGULARLY use five: the two Revo baitcaster, the two Revo spinning combos, and the Shimano Symetre combo. I can't justify buying more if it means I have combos that never get used, because then it feels like just wasted money to me

Anyone feel like your collection is complete?
With my four recent purchases: two rods and two reels, I can now honestly say "Dude ..that's enough." Unless something breaks, I have zero excuses or reason to buy more gear. It brings my total to: 3 Abu silver max combos 1 Curado DC with silvermax rod 1 Revo s with veritas rod combo 1 Revo s spinning combo 1 Revo SX with veritas plx tournament 1 Revo s spinning with plx tournament 1 Shimano Symetre combo 1 Abu catfish commando combo 1 Abu Max STX spinning combo 1 Abu Max STX spincast combo 2 BPS quantum spinning combos I honestly can't see myself buying anything else, so I guess my gear monkey has been satisfied.

Tackle warehouse scam
I deleted mine about three months ago. It's nothing but fake/troll accounts and Russian bots now.

Shoulder Surgery
Rotator cuff will NOT heal on its own. It can only get worse. Putting it off isn't a good idea from a medical standpoint.

New proposed limit in Oklahoma
Very few, but that's the point. They should be able to if they wish Not MY preference, as I prefer other fish, but still

New proposed limit in Oklahoma
We have tons of waterways, etc here, but people chose to prioritize recreational fishing over tournaments here, and I'm glad. I'm not generally opposed to tournaments, but NOT at the expense of recreational fishing. Any limits placed designed to increase or attract tournament fishermen can kick rocks imo. Recreational should always come first.

Ned rig to the rescue...
Retrieve on a Ned rig for ME consists of one of two things:. Cast and let it deadstick for 5-7 sec, followed by a very small hop. Most of my bites have been on that first hop. The bass will sit there watching it deadstick, then crush it as soon as they see it move. Other method is a simple slow drag.

Got my new Revo SX. Some criticisms of Abu Garcia.
The max pro is a new reel. It's a recent trend it seems amongst all the major manufacturers not to ship their reels with grease.
