  1. Not a problem I've used it this entire year, and have found a few things: the line tie on the jig head will still snag in rip rap, but comes through heavy weeds pretty well. When sight fishing with it in clear water, I sat and watched the fish's reaction to it. Casting it too close to them will make them swim a short distance away and just look at it. Usually on the first hop, they dart back in close, maybe to get a better look/smell. I noticed when I soaked the lures in the package with either procure or liquid mayhem, 90% of the time, they'd sit there for a second, then dart in and eat it. Otherwise, I'd jiggle my rod tip to shake the lure, then they'd hit it.
  2. I also use rod tethers...heard too many horror stories not to lol
  3. Dig in?? I use 15 with no problem...
  4. Where are you guys getting the jdm equipment from?
  5. Likewise with salamanders/brush hogs.
  6. Yes..bass fishing. My main bass combo gets 15lb, but I want to rig two SilverMax combos with 12lb, and two other spinning combos with 8lb and 10lb. I use the colors to remember which is which since most of my rigs are identical to each other.
  7. I did a search here and saw a couple posts where it was mentioned, but no opinions on it. Since it comes in so many no-fade colors, and in an 8 strand PE braid, I've got three spools sitting in my cart lol! Anyone have any opinions on this stuff before I hit the buy button?
  8. I don't buy a lot of different stuff...I buy a lot of the stuff I use ? At any given time, I have at least three spare packs of powerbait pit boss lures
  9. I usually bring three rods. A Shimano Symetre rigged for bream, a finesse bass spinning setup, and a baitcast setup. I also usually carry 6-12 juglines. I find I enjoy myself more if I'm not spending time searching thru 5 or 6 boxes, etc
  10. I don't get that either. Closer to the water, a longer rod allows for more accuracy and distance. Only drawback is under low hanging branches.
  11. Lol! I'm the complete opposite lol! I try to bring as little as I can.
  12. This is my box when I go kayak fishing. It has everything in it for every type of fishing I do...from bream to bass. Just curious to see how everyone else packs up for a kayak trip. I personally try to bring as little with me as I possibly can, therefore, only my top producing lures make it into this box.
  13. I completely agree with him, which is why I always preach simplicity. I'm very picky about what I use don't get me wrong, but I keep it to a handful of lure types. I just have a ton of what I use lol
  14. When I'm contact fishing from a kayak with either neds, senkos, or shaky heads, 75% of the time it's on a spinning setup. Abu Garcia veritas PLX rod in 7' medium/fast. Creature baits and lures like a sweet beaver, I use a casting rod...an Abu Garcia Veritas TE in 7', medium heavy/fast. I want the most sensitivity I can for these applications, and both of these rods punch well above their price points. Neither of these ever lets me down as far as sensitivity goes, and you could get both for your budget.
  15. Abu Garcia SilverMax for me. I have three with three different setups. This one in my "general bass fishing" rig...with 15lb sufix ProMix.
  16. I've got enough lures to last the winter, but I already know I'm only going to be able to resist a few more days lol I don't even have anything particular in mind except maybe another pack of rage bugs, but I gotta go get SOMETHING new lol
  17. Thanks. It's healing, but like most things, never seems quickly enough. I can make about 75% of my max distance now, but only 2 or 3 times lol Makes sense. I use the ProMix because it's both colorfast AND high quality. I have some strike king tour grade braid that is also excellent, but fades. The olive drab color is awesome though. I'd want: brown, dark gray/smoke, moss green, tan.
  18. Not yet. My arm has been giving me trouble, so I haven't fished much.
  19. I know the fish would care less...I don't use leaders at all and the fish don't care. It's more of a customization thing to me. I use colors to denote lb/test on different combos.
  20. I'm one of those fisherman that is very picky/choosy about my equipment. I want exactly what I want, down to the color. When it comes to braided line, I want three things: fade proof, smoothness, and more than just one color option. Low-vis or moss green seems to be 75% of the offerings. I loved the "smoke" color of berkley fireline, but disliked just about everything else about it. My preferred braid is Sufix ProMix, at least for now, because it's fade proof and manageable. When can we get more color options, specifically a coastal brown or more of an olive drab vs the more green colors? And seriously...colorfast braided line shouldn't be so hard to find. Basically, there's only 2 widely available braids that won't fade out.
  21. Yep. I just snipped off the hook. It looks like a nut bc it's so beat up lol
  22. Would adding a split ring help? I read most bass are lost on treble hooks bc the fish can shake and "jam" the treble hook, making it easier for them to wrench themselves free. Roland Martin suggested adding a split ring on each treble hook on a devil's horse to prevent it from happening.
