  1. I'll add one to this list: Fluorocarbon line is less visible underwater than clear mono:. False X3.
  2. I agree with all of the above. I caught an 18lb channel catfish on 4lb test berkley xl before. Probably the MOST important thing on a baitcaster is your spool tension. Second is the drag. I fish dark colors in the middle of the day and catch big bass....likewise translucent watermelon colors at dusk.
  3. I trust in my sufix ProMix lol! I was just goofing around, and I like experimenting.
  4. That's what I was going to do first...attach increasingly heavier dumbbell plates until it breaks.
  5. Yeah, you already know I'm gonna try it lol! I ordered some olive drab Spectra thread that has 45piques per inch.
  6. I just went to Walmart for some laundry detergent. Came back with laundry detergent, 5 packs of blue and white creme mini tail crappie lures, a bag of Ozark trail sun perch colored hammer hogs, and a spool of 20lb coastal brown berkley big game to go with my other two spools
  7. I was stringing some braid on a backup reel when my fiance said "That stuff looks just like sewing thread.' Which made me start thinking...which is dangerous lol You CAN buy spectra and Dacron sewing thread. Same materials...for like $2 a 500yd spool. Has anyone done this..or will I have to be the guinea pig? Lol From my brief research, it seems similar to mono in that it's the diameter and number of piques that matters as for strength, so in THEORY, buying Spectra thread of the same diameter as Spectra braided line should be the same strength.
  8. I'm of the school that bass are like lions: they hunt primarily by sight, and scent/flavor only really matters on highly reluctant bass or after they've bit a lure. I don't add any sense to my baits except for spraying them with lubricant while they are in my tackle boxes, mostly just to keep them from sticking together but if the scent attracts fish then I guess I'm getting a side benefit.
  9. Im gonna have to go get some mega strike now lol
  10. I "rainbow cast" into stuff like that with a 1/2oz tungsten weight pegged to a pit boss. Pick my spot, the cast up in a rainbow arc to let my lure drive thru the matted grass.
  11. Lol! In theory, the Fantasista X would be the "better" rod. The Veritas TE is $170 for the ones I like. I just can't decide, and I've been thinking it over for a month now...
  12. All I can say, since I'm absolutely terrible with jerkbaits is 1) even in my big kayak, using even a chatterbait will turn the nose of the boat. Reeling in a fish can spin it and 2) give a few jerkbait tips lol
  13. I love Abu Garcia rods and reels. I already own multiple Veritas and Veritas PLX rods. However, I'm a "sensitivity junkie", not that my current rods are lacking mind you.. the Veritas PLX rods are amazing. HOWEVER: the Veritas TE is coming soon, as is the Fantasista X. I cannot decide between them. I will buy one casting and one spinning version to make into my primary rigs for each. I need help deciding which series to get...and pls say why, as it will help me decide. The Zenon rods are awesome, but too expensive for me, and my soon to be wife would divorce me preemptively lol
  14. I CAN say this, because I have the proof: powerbait MaxScent baits DO attract fish. I threw out a MaxScent stick bait and a yum dinger. Same color, with a 1/8th oz black weight glued to the bottom and a 1/0 rigging hook thru the top to make them stand upright. Both were on 8lb clear Trilene Sensation, and were 2 feet apart in 3 feet of water. I could see them both. In 5 minutes, the MaxScent lure was chewed up. Chunks taken out of it and everything. I still have it and can post a pic. It got hit multiple times. The dinger never got a single nibble.
  15. I ordered a couple things from TW...like two Revo S spinning combos. I just like going in person...seeing them and instant gratification of buying on the spot lol
  16. Yep. ER. 20 years this coming November
  17. Y'all are causing me to buy more lures...just wanted you to know lol
  18. Bama bug colored pit boss is my confidence beaver style lure.
  19. $100-$150 for me every 2 weeks lol I just like fiddling with my equipment..no pun intended lol! I change the line on my reels twice a month, etc just because it's like therapy I'm an ER nurse when I'm not fishing...so whatever helps me chill out I guess lol My fiance just says "It makes it SUPER easy to get you Christmas and birthday presents....bps gift cards and you're good to go" lol! I just looked...what's the name of that thread? Lol
  20. Man I'm not even kidding. I'm addicted to buying fishing stuff lol! Twice a week I'm on BPS buying more line and baits, despite having tons already. Women like collecting shoes...I obsessively buy soft plastics lol
  21. I'm terrible with jerk baits.
  22. Ok m definitely guilty of this. I buy a LOT of lures, then toss the ones that I find don't work for me, then go buy more of something else. I figure there's no harm in it...it keeps it interesting for me to keep trying new stuff whether it works or not. I have a dozen bags of each of the colors of pit bosses I like though lol
  23. I was just curious of the plastic itself absorbs the scents or if it's just a coating. I have the powerbait liquid for my MaxScent lures, which is what Berkley said I should use to keep them "wet" in an email I sent to them asking. I use procure on the Z-Man lures, which is what Z-Man recommends, and they say it soaks into the plastic.
  24. I only go there to catch nice sized bluegill. The bass fishing tends to be just okay. Biggest I've caught there was 2.84 lbs
