Aaron Martens update....
Glioblastoma seems to be becoming more and more common. At one time, it was VERY rare. This country needs to spend more on cancer research. Too many people are lost way too soon to that disease. It's one of the few cancers that really doesn't have a cure rate. It can be slowed down in some cases, but is virtually always fatal. We need to find a way to cure it.

Replacing kayak pedal drive for motor.
To each his own, but I'd think putting a motor on a kayak kinda defeats a lot of the purpose of buying a kayak vs just getting a small boat.

Your Ned rig setup(s)...
My primary Ned combo is an Abu Garcia veritas PLX 7' medium action rod, a size 30 Revo S spinning reel, and 10lb sufix ProMix braid. No leader.

Pond dynamics?
Lol no kidding...sounds like an awesome place to fish to me... Can't remember where I read it, but there's a certain percentage of bass that will never bite on a lure for some reason, and those tend to be the biggest ones.

Ned rig to the rescue...
I was sitting on my sofa looking at my ned lures going "I KNOW there's gotta be a better way to do this..." and just kinda pieced it together. Oh well...I'll keep trying ? However, I'm not exaggerating when I say it'll catch fish when literally nothing else will. Edit: I just googled "tiny child rig" and I'll be d**n...

Anyone in the Baton Rouge, LA area
Lol possibly so I had no intention of cast netting THAT many shad. First two throws I caught a dozen or so. Third throw, I had so many I could barely drag the net up.

Casting Distance
I tried 50lb braid of the same type as my 15lb. I didn't measure it, but it was noticable as far as the distance increase. Also, as I stated, as physics dictates, thinner line = more sensitive, which is of upmost importance to me. I'll sacrifice a lot of things for more sensitivity.

Casting Distance
I'll say this much for sure:. Of all the braids I've tried, spiderwire was always the worst as far as being manageable and smooth. I use sufix ProMix braid. Smooth and fade proof.

Casting Distance
This. I'm a tad persnickety about my equipment, but I completely clean then re-lube my reels after every trip.

Casting Distance
The size of the line is definitely a factor. It's why I use 15lb braid max. Any bigger impacts casting distance/accuracy in a negative way. As an added bonus, thinner braid is also more sensitive.

Replacing kayak pedal drive for motor.
Research whether your state will require you to register your kayak after you add a motor to it or not. If so, you'll have to cough up the bill of sale, etc. That may make a difference.

Ned rig to the rescue...
Like this. Makes it's much more weedless and ensures it stands upright. Weight glued into one end, rigging hook on the other. This catches fish when literally nothing else will, and fully 80% of the big fish I've caught this year were caught on one of these. The big TRD works best with a standard shanked 1/0 worm hook.

10% off everything
I get that too. Just mulling it over. I don't like situations where one group is held to one set of "rules", and another group isn't because of some privilege not accessible to anyone else. I understand that websites cost money. Even though when I first signed up I was not aware of it, the rules clearly say : Screen names should be your name or alias, but not a company name, slogan, or Facebook/Youtube/Instagram channel name. I changed my user name...then saw this thread.

Casting Distance
Adjust the brakes and spool tension to be more loose. If you're still not happy, swap reels on that rod. If casting distance is still an issue, it's the rod. If not, it's the reel. Also, try going down to 15lb braid instead of 30. The main benefits of braids is that it has very low stretch and is very thin for the pound test. Thinner braid will cast much farther, and by using very heavy braids, you are negating part of this benefit.

Ned rig to the rescue...
I don't get it either. If there is ONE lure that seems to catch fish no matter where you are and no matter what time of year...it's the Ned rig. It definitely catches big fish too. I have one suggestion though that has actually increased my catch rate and mitigates many of the problems of snags...I call it the average fisherman rig lol I take a Ned head, clip off the hook right behind the keeper barb. I insert the weight and keeper into either a finesse TRD or big TRD, and secure it with a tiny drop of super glue. Then, on a finesse TRD, I use a 1/0 Owner rigging hook and Texas rig it from the other side. It stands straight up in the water, and fish absolutely SMASH it. For the big TRD's, I use a standard 1/0 worm hook rigged the same way. No matter where or when I'm fishing, I always have one of these rigged up on a spinning reel.

10% off everything
I get it, just deciding on whether I like the idea of "pay us and you get special privileges" or not.

10% off everything
I got a strike bc I picked a screen name that was the same as my screen name that I use on my YouTube channel, not knowing it's against the rules. So you're allowed to do it after all?

Worms, creatures, craws, oh my! How do YOU choose?
No "system" for me at all. I'm a hardcore finesse fisherman. I fish finesse tactics 99% of the time, even when they're not "supposed" to work, and they always do. I always tell people this:. Power fishing catches active fish. Finesse fishing catches all of them. My main "confidence" lure is a bama bug colored pit boss on a 3/0 thin wire EWG hook with a 1/8oz tungsten weight pegged. Next is a shakey head with a sweet beaver or some other beaver style lure. Next is a reverse rigged Ned rigged big TRD in green pumpkin goby. Then, various rigged stickbaits, but primarily on a shakey head. I'm not too complicated with colors, and mostly just go dark or light, with very few select lures in baitfish colors. My darks are usually bama bug, green pumpkin, etc. My lights are watermelon green, watermelon with red flake, or tan-colored. Baitfish is ghost shad, sexy shad, etc.

Ned rig to the rescue...
Ned rigs, or my modified version thereof, are a staple in my arsenal, and I always have one ready to go.

Late Fall Bass Lures ?
Same as my summer lures: Big TRD reverse ned-rigged, powerbait pit boss, shaky head powerbait finesse worm, and a green pumpkin magic colored stick bait.

A noob fisherman getting discouraged
Stick with it. The end of summer (september) and the winter transition are some of the toughest bass fishing.

FINALLY the cooler weather is here!!!!!!
I bought a Magellan cooler, and added a bubbler that works really well. Never had a fish die in it yet.

Some Thoughts on Crappie as Forage
Just got back from fishing in a little creek from the bank. Three 1/2lb dinks on the missile lure, 1 quarter pounder without cheese on the stik-o
