Ugh nassau county!!! Some big ones there tho at the right place and times. And yeah I’ve personally caught fish up to 8.6lbs and have lost two fish that were bigger that still haunt me today. Oddly enough a week after my 8.6 my daughter was born weighs 6.8 lbs lol

Braid for crankbaits?
12 or 15lb big game for all my crank baits. Tried braid a few times and don’t like it for this application. The only crankbait application I can see it being useful is ripping traps through grass

Dobyns Fury or St croix mojo??
I’ve been using all Dobyns fury rods since they first came out. The 704 or 734 will do the job. I’ve never fished the mojo bass but felt them and I just feel the Dobyns is a better overall rod

Learned the Crazy Alberto
Alberto knot is a good knot and simple to tie in just not a fan of connection knots in general but they are necessary sometimes

New reel purchase recommendation
Haven’t bought a new reel in a few years and want a new general purpose casting reel. Last reel I bought was a fuego ct and I liked it. Want to keep price $100-$125. What are my other options in this price range?

Any experience with weedless Ned's ?
I’ve used that exact style of head and I’ve found when it’s too weedy for a regular ned rig head you’re just better off fishing a different way

East wind means no fish ???
This couldn’t be more wrong. Completely depends on the body of water you’re fishing and time of year.

Is there a best/better braid for spinning reels?
I’ve been using 10-15lb power pro for years and never had an issue.
-
Ned rig head recommendations
Yes using elaztech baits without glue is not a good idea. They constantly fall down the hook

Ned rig head recommendations
I’ve always used the zman finesse shroomz heads with the zman TRD but unless you take the bait off each head at the end of the day the hook rusts and will snap either in a snag or setting the hook on a fish. I superglue my trd’s to the head so it’s a PITA taking them off and regluing after every outing. I had a pack of mustads which were nice, also a little bit thicker gauge wired hook which I also liked. What other heads are you guys that don’t rust and snap in half on a hook set?

Tackle Warehouse communication issues?
Used to order from them all the time, was the only place I shopped. If I placed the order before 3pm EST it would ship the same day. Ever since the pandemic hit their shipping and service has gone down hill. I shop elsewhere now. Haven’t ordered from them in almost two years

Berkley Fireline Fused Crystal?

It was unseasonably warm Sunday morning and with no ice on the lakes yet here I ventured out to one of my favorite lakes in search of my first bass of 2022. Within minutes I was into my first one and two yellow perch. All fish on a small X-rap. I’m guessing water temps were high 30s low 40s. Felt real good wetting a line with 50 degree temps in January. The bass was a bonus

most big bass caught during brightest part of day, 10am to 3pm? doug hannon video

In that price range you really can’t go wrong with a Stradic or the vanford (vanford is basically a lighter Stradic)

Fat Cow Baits & Lures
I’ve used them bucktailing stripers. They are good, but prefer otter tails over the fat cow strips. Google otter tail fishing lures
