JDM Orochi X10 rods
I've been eyeing the Kirisame Bait Finesse and Jabberwock. I'm confused about the price point though. Why release a second line of graphite rods in the same price point as Destroyer p5? Or am I missing something? The lineup as a whole, to me, looks much more interesting than p5 though.

So you bought a rod from Japan and was able to use the warranty program by shipping it back to the retailer and going through them?

the MegaBass rod warranty process and customer service.
I have broken 2 MB rods, both in accidents and not during normal fishing. Both rods replaced for free. I like Megabass warranty for this reason. I broke my SD destroyer 8 days after it arrived. It was already my favorite rod so I was pretty devastated when I slipped on a rock in the rain and feel with my whole body weight, breaking my fall between two boulders with my precious, new rod. I remember praying as I scanned the ground below me, hoping to God I'd find that shiny new SD intact and unscathed below me. Alas, I had to take my prayers to MB of America....

Any bad experiences with purchasing JDM reels?
1 reel purchase here. Great experience, will do it again. The way I see it if something is wrong with the reel it will likely be a faulty part and not that expensive to fix. You can order parts you need from Shimano, or digitakeven and do the work yourself if you feel like giving it a go. Not sure I'd buy a rod though. I like the peace of mind a warranty offers. You never know though.

Dedicated 5” Senko casting rod … ?
Meh. Just peel some line and you'll be fine. Use what you like. Unless you are fishing weightless senkos off 30 foot ledges I guess. Then use spinning?

Favorite Megabass Destroyer P5 rods?
Hey Scud, I actually thought of another question. I was going through some old threads and I noticed you either have or have handled a Steez Sensor rod. If you had to translate that rod into a MB power what would you rate it? Like a 4.5 or so? Maybe a 5? Just trying to get some context. Thanks!

Favorite Megabass Destroyer P5 rods?
Hey there. You sound like you've handled alot of p5 and Steez rods! Ever had a chance to use the Super Destroyer and Targwt Sniper by chance? Going back and forth between these rods.

2023 Metanium
It mostly lives on my Steez 7'0" MMH but I slap it on other rods at times. Mostly light bottom contact but some moving bait applications as well. It's the only met I've ever used but with regards to the 20 Met, my understanding is that the main differences between the difference iterations is the spool capacity. There may be some other minor things, such as the length of the handles on the JDM vs USDM etc. but the main thing is the spool depth (and price!). I wouldn't be surprised if there was some performance difference between the different spools, likely because of differences of weight but I still think they are essentially the same reel, certainly the same family.

Need help with rod selection!
This is a topic that is near and dear to my heart and I tried out alot of rods going down this very rabbit hole before finding the perfect rod for me for this technique. I settled on the Steez AGS "The Sensor". The tip is a little stiffer than most MF rods out there and this really helps with hooksets, but it isn't as stiff as a MHF and so casts much better. It's a very unique rod and throws many techniques and weights very well. The XF tip gives way to a more F or even MF taper at higher loads. The Tatula Elite 7'0" MMH I've been told is essentially the same rod at a lower price point. Whatever your budget is I'd highly suggest going out to your local tackle shop and trying out one of the aforementioned rods if only to get a feel for the overall taper and characteristics, which you might be able to find in whatever price point you are looking at: essentially, a faster tip that is softer than a MH but a little stiffer than a M. Some MH's have pretty soft tips, some M's can be pretty stiff. I had a Medium powered 13 fishing rod with a pretty stiff tip at one time, very inexpensive, great hooksets, ok distance caster. Generally speaking, all things being equal, a longer rod with cast farther than a shorter one, but in practice things are almost never equal. Rod taper and rebound characteristics also factor in. I have many shorter rods (down to 6'3") and some of the shorter rods will cast almost as well as a 7ft rod. I've found that 6'8" or thereabouts is a great compromise between distance, accuracy and maneuverability if you find yourself in tight quarters alot, say from bank with trees around. But if you are mostly free of obstacles then 7'0" will likely be a better length for distance. On the other hand, there are many ways to turn this screw: the rod I was using most before this was actually a 6'8" LXF (more of a ML IMO). It was a much lighter rod but casted a weightless senko great because of the taper and power. The drawback was I had to get through much more rod to set the hook, but I rarely missed a hookset with that rod because it had a solid backbone down there somewhere. It wasn't ideal, but it launched that senko a mile. Not to repeat myself, but go check out that Tatula rod, get a feel for the tip and if it doesn't fit your budget then see what you can find that is closest to that.

fished with my new Zillion yesterday. some thoughts
curado 150 casts a mile by any standard I know (don't own a million high end reels here though). I do own a metanium and the curado will outcast that reel any day of the week. I don't think this is a knock on the met or the zillion, just a big plus for the humble curado 150.

Megabass Destroyer P5 Tachyon Shaft vs. Megabass Destroyer P5 X-Bites (And Advice About Setups)
how does it cast though? I'm not looking for a pitching rod ? I do appreciate your response and I'm sorry to OP if I'm hijacking here! How does the taper differ? It's hard to imagine a MF, or what often looks like a JDM type F->S taper of the SD and the regular taper of the TS. I don't own any megabass regular tapers so I don't really understand how they load.

I got the new-rod smell off my Megabass, right away.
Hey congrats on the new X-Bites! I'm considering this rod as well. Sorta tossing around between this and the SD. Please continue to post back as you develop more thoughts about the rod!

Met 150 vs Curado 150
Do you get more casting distance with the curado? Do you feel it has more reliable brakes (even though it is the same design?) L. I definitely do after taking them both out today. I'm very surprised by this. I'm wondering if I need to tune the Met a little more. I admit I find judging the spool tension very difficult on that reel.

Met 150 vs Curado 150
I already bought the Met, it cost me $100 more. I'm pretty satisfied. It's hard to justify a Met at USDM prices and hard to justify a curado with the Met at JDM prices. Prices aside though I was mostly curious about how they differed in functional sense. So far the solidity of the frame and X-ship go a long way towards the feel of the reel. And the tolerances all around just feel way more exact. It is very nice. But I swear my curado has a slightly greater max distance, especially throwing lower weights. And that reel requires less braking to boot. I'm sure I'm going to get slayed for this opinion. Lol Queue: max distance isn't everything, and you don't know how to set up your Metanium, get gud!
