  1. you’re also keeping your bait in the strike zone longer, once you’ve established their preferred depth paralleling the bank works great from the shore too especially at night ?
  2. Another post spawn Ct green head This time during an event on a usually stingy Lake Zoar #5.55
  3. 6.31 post spawn Ct green head
  4. Found a brown trout floundering on the surface of Congamond during a tourney in 2020? netted her and unbuttoned a brand new vision 110 in GG Pro Perch from across her face she lived to swim another day and I was rewarded for my good deed
  5. The question is seasonal for example, I am 100 percent positive I will catch them on hair as soon as the ice melts probably a higher percentage than that if that is possible…….
  6. Sounds cynical, but one spinning and one casting set up will do the job now, if you’re taking about tournament bass fishing , taking the time to retie or change baits is a clock burner can’t catch em unless your baits wet
  7. I’ve always been a Keitech guy but had a buddy of mine toss me some of the Big Bite Pro Swimmers 2.8 and 3.3” Small jaws seem to eat them just as good in the cold and so far they’ve been a lot more durable might give them an honest work out this season
  8. Great stuff here recently started making my own jigs and it’s nice since I can make them the patterns that I want now if only work didn’t occupy so much of my time
  9. Jealous….haven’t been on the water since New Year’s Eve well done
  10. I prefer the KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid) and I’m not directing that at you. You want to be successful in that scenario?, find the irregularities……. Look for the cuts, the twists and turns or the holes. Each of these indicates some kind of change in bottom and are your “high percentage areas”.
  11. I’ll always have a finesse jig of some kind in my deck when fishing for smallmouth, but…….. Don’t discount a big jig for smallmouth, especially when fishing offshore these two fell for a 1/2 oz poison tail jig with a Zoom Salty Pro Chunk Just because they’re called smallmouth you would be surprised at how big a meal they will eat
  12. I’d really like to keep it at or below $250 I fish an awful lot and am hard on tackle lol
  13. Thank you my friends, I’ll check them out
  14. Looking for a new dedicated jig rod. something in the 7’ 3” range and usually throw 1/2 oz something light that I can use all day but not overly stiff Champlain bass pic for attention
  15. Late post. Got out New Years Eve for a couple of hours in CT Water temp was 40 degrees and fished from 22-29 FOW Hard bottom transitions with rock Caught them on swimbaits, hair, blades and spoons
  16. black pearl crystal flash I like to mix it up once in a while
  17. hand tied synthetic, always on or slow swimming near the bottom. sometimes they just smoke it while dead sticked. The slightest current makes the hair pulsate
  18. I prefer a 7’ ML spinning rod with #10 Suffix 832 as my main line and #6-8 Sunline Sniper as my leader. water hovered around 40 degrees and I looked for areas that transitioned to hard rocky bottom on the main lake. Hard bottom is key..... This day had them set up in 22-28 fow But don’t discount a blade or spoon on bait casting gear. They can be major players
  19. Water hasn’t iced up here yet. I got out for a couple of hours on New Years Eve and they were eager to eat hair and cold steel let’s pray for a short winter
  20. Blade bait, hair and a ned will still catch them with consistency
  21. I’ve done them with craft hair, unweighted and yes, they work
  22. Hair jigs and blade baits
  23. Hi from NY
