  1. Another vote for the gamakatsu ball heads. I just use the do it mold for them. I like using a 2/0 hook in a 3/8 and 1/2 oz head size, which most don't seem to sell. Hooks were in the .40ish cent range per
  2. Ordered some Oldham trailer hitch jigs in 1/2, 3/4. Hoping they cover most of the bases. I fish a lot of steep bluff walls, but they have some wood too. Footballs work great for the rock but hang up too much on wood for me. It's been rough finding a 3/4 jig that isn't a more grass jig or football. The call to place order with Oldham jigs was refreshing. It's cool to get to talk with the jig maker about jigs.
  3. Anyone have a Oldham trailer hitch jig they can take a good picture of the head design? The website image isn't very good
  4. I really like the largo shads in general. They work well on a spinnerbait, swim jig, ball head for me. My only gripe is there's not a lot of darker colors other than the real image ones. I'm sure these will function as well as normal. I sent a message to rapalas customer service at the time of posting and they said they weren't a fan, and are shipping out a replacement. As far as the bait performance and customer service they are a 10! I just gotta feed my matchy matchy side lol
  5. Anyone used the Houdini largo shads and can comment if this is normal for them? Mine have a large amount of white in them that I didn't see on sites. Was hoping for something that would go a little better for bluegill colored swim jigs.
  6. The 5" doodle worm iovino makes? Or is there a 5" straight?
  7. The 7'3" mag heavy is the 735. The rod is a great frog rod as it has a soft tip, but locks up extremely quick for a dobyns. I have had better luck with flouro on that rod for jigs, especially 3/4 footballs for me. That rod with straight braid really takes much give out of the system, paired with extra leverage for the fish.
  8. I ordered a few off tw a while back, but I like trying to support some smaller bait makers. Anyone have any smaller ones that make a ledge preacher style with bucktail or similar non synthetic hair.
  9. As an aside, the nrx + 854 seems significantly more stout than the old one. 1/2 oz with full trailer is no issue on 854. Wouldn't hesitate for 3/4.
  10. Has anyone tried the 5" spark shad on a jighead? How much weight does it take to keep it in the 10-15 ft range without having to crawl it? Also would 4/0 be big enough hook? I was trying on a heavier chatterbait as well.
  11. Just requested through email and they sent an invoice. Great place to deal with imo.
  12. I was looking at the do it 473388 gamakatsu ball head mold and was curious if you could use a 3/0 hook in the 3/8 oz and 1/2 oz. Or even downsizing to 2/0 in the 3/8 oz size. Looking to have a little heavier head for some small keitechs. I also use them in tubes.
  13. Just had some of these made through Nichols custom shop. 1oz heads with a large chartreuse Colorado for slow rolling deep.
  14. Imo the champ 744 is more similar to the extreme 745 than the extreme 744. The 745 has good power but still has a soft tip. Bite detection is good with either series.
  15. 5mm is what you want for a trick worm. It will dimple it just slightly. I have no idea on dingers. On a 5" senko the 6mm is just a bit tighter than the 5mm is on a trick worm. 7mm is just a bit on the loose side on a 5" senko Trick worm with a 5mm 6mm on a big bite baits 5" stick worm
  16. How heavy is the chatterbait with large boot tail on it?
  17. 2019 7'3" 4 power zbone on the x ray blank. Like it for 3/8- 1/2" jigs. Super sensitive and locks up well.
  18. Been using trick worms with a weighted wacky rig and wacky drop shot with good success this year. Been using the vmc rings to keep them together.
  19. Do you have a keitech or small swimbait confidence color? Go as close as you can to that is my vote

Just put a order in for about 20 of those punisher hair jigs. Some in the wire guard, some with the weed guard. 3/8 and 1/2 oz mainly in camo, pb&j, black/blue. I chose the ones tom mentioned somewhere so I fully intend on blaming him for my ineptitude lol. I don't have any pork so I'm gonna try some power bait and max scent chunks. Have paca chunks too.
  21. How is the tip on the nrx 854 for skipping? I'm currently using a dx705 from dobyns that works well. But always wonder about the nrx
  22. Most all of them are siebert outdoors. The keeper stops in a pretty sharp point. The jigs are amazing, so I really am not looking to swap brands. I cut slice out of sweet beaver and threaded it on and the point of keeper is just barely within bait at the thin point. I took just the point of the keeper on a couple and it seems to give me enough room, as well as trying to pull the bait out some as I'm going over the keeper.
  23. Ordered a pack of the netbait, a max scent creature hawg, and a couple packs of chunks. I may try to snip a little of the keeper as well. Thanks for all the suggestions!
  24. The rage bug works well, but I'm looking for a more dead action. The rage bug and bandito big have a more active flapping like a z craw does. I have been eyeing up the d bombs though.
  25. I have my best luck fishing jigs with a sweet beaver as a trailer, but about half of them split down the middle before even catching anything because the lead keeper cuts the bait in that thin section. If I'm not careful they end up cutting little spots even just rigging it. Any rigging tips? Or are there other brands that have a little more meat to them. Also would the chunk trailers be about the same action?
