  1. The old cotton Cordell blue stripers for me.
  2. Anyone have the two to compare. I read the new nrx+ 854 is a little faster and more powerful than the old model. I liked the length, but the old one felt pretty weak for a 4 power compared to the 894.
  3. I prefer craws like the muscle back when dragging. If I'm looking for a bite on the fall or pitching in and out I like something with a flapper like the adrenaline craw. Also adrenaline craw on swing heads and swim jigs.
  4. My main concern was about being able to get a good enough hook set on a stiff guard while it's swimming. I could try to run braid instead of flouro too. I could just be overthinking it.
  5. What are some of your thoughts on the flip and swim jigs. I have a few that I believe were from a old site sponsor. The weed guards seem really stiff for swimming. Am I better off just using a separate jig for each purpose?
  6. Supposedly the legend extremes are not on the scv blank any more. Super-high-modulus SCVI blank with highest level of carbon-fiber density ever used by St. Croix Externally overlaid Advanced Reinforcing Technology SCVI carbon with Fortified Resin System in the lower section maximizes power and strength while keeping weight to a minimum Superior resin that significantly increases strength during hookset compression and flex strength under load Integrated Poly Curve mandrel technology Taper Enhancement Technology blank design with curved patterns for improved action and increased sensitivity Two-coat Flex-Coat slow-cure finish Daiwa AGS carbon-fiber guides with Fuji KG Tip Top with SiC ring Fuji SK2 split reel seat combines ultralight weight with incredible sensitivity 2nd Generation Xtreme-Skin handle Kigan titanium hook-keeper keeps your rod rigged and at the ready Manufacturer’s 15-year transferable warranty
  7. I yo yo trying to stay in the 15-10 ft column. Most of this is In 50+ fow but they suspend in that range. So that method definitely works. I use a heavy trap like the lv500 for that purpose

Anyone had any luck as jig trailers? Was thinking on a smaller finesse football
  9. Could we get a brown/blue option and a white white/chartreuse?
  10. Have been eyeing up one of these 600+ monsters for 3/8-3/4 jig duty. At this price I'm obviously chasing sensitivity. But would also like to make sure they work that weight range well. I have a 4 power z ray zbone and a champ extreme 745. The 745 covers the range I'd like, but I'm curious about something more sensitive. Im leaning towards the St croix but there's not a lot of reviews on them for being out for a while now.
  11. I wanted to try and start using a wacky drop shot and had some questions. What plastics do you prefer? What hook, and when to use it? I got a pack of Don iovino 6" worms, some 6" roboworms, trick worms. Would the mosquito hook that I use for nose hooking work since they are smaller bodied worms, or should I use like a neko hook. Would be nice to switch from nose hook to wacky without redoing the rig.
  12. I would get a 704cb or 705cb for jerkbaits/cranks. From there I would look at either a 703c ( which is more moderate than the 733, I use for weightless flukes, small cranks, small t rigs, Shakey heads.) The other would be the 735c, which really is a extra fast tip for dobyns. It works amazing as a frog rod and larger weight Texas rigs, it gets to the backbone quick.
  13. Bass union jigs are all living rubber. I really like the finesse footballs.
  14. Absolutely love the osp dolive craw...but question my sanity each time one gets a pincher torn off without a bass. Also really like the baby paca
  15. I have 12lb yozuri hybrid on it as it's usually on moving baits. I have to haul on it to break the line even at the 12lb rating.
  16. I really enjoy the 734c in the champ xp. It is on the moderate side of fast, yet still has good power once it locks up. Use mine for chatter baits, swim jigs, lipless quite often. I prefer a little faster tip for spinner baits but that's just a preference thing.
  17. Nice visual, tyvm! What's your experience been with the xtasy line? Feel like there's something left on the table or it's splitting hairs at that price point?
  18. So if I leaned more towards skipping. Does anyone have experience with the drx725c or the dx705c?
  19. I've been debating which dobyns rod to get for pitching and skipping jigs in the 3/8 - 1/2 oz + trailer. (mainly 1/2). I would like to stay at least 7' and below 7'3". The xtasy 725 has my eye but I have read it's soft and not amazingly sensitive ( though dobyns seems to take a lot of heat on sensitivity, could just be overblown at this point). I currently use a 7'3" mh x-ray zbone for it, and also have a champ extreme 745c I use for football jigs. The 745 is just a touch too long for my taste to skip with, pitching it does fine. Would love everyone's thoughts. Also I currently use flouro but could switch to braid if need be to stiffen up a setup.
