  1. Nice fish...... Low Budget hooker may be correct about not catching those kinda fish every day but a least you are not working your self do death and your getting in some fishing!!!! :) Best of luck!!
  2. An electric fillet knife is the only way to go. It makes filleting so simple. And I'm sorry anyone who thinks that you buy better tasting fish from the store has never had a good mess of fried bluegill, perch or crappie !!!!!!!!!
  3. What is this Fat Ika thing, I keep hearing about it, don't know what it is?? Oh ya,#1 Manns hard nosed frog. They stay up on the hook!!! #2 River runner spinner baits. Small profile work excellent!
  4. Jerk bait, spinner bait, Tube jig, tube jig , tube jig. Did i say tube jig!!
  5. I'm from Indiana, do you want to share on this forum or through personal messages??
  6. I'm sorry but if I fished the places Bill Dance fished I would look like a top notch pro also!! When you see his next show look at what body of water he is fishing in see if it does not look like it's about 20-30 acres, A lot of times you can see the banks of opposite sides are not very far away from each other! Bet the fish are not pressured.
  7. Where I fish the lake are very clear the best things that work for me are Flourocarbon line no bigger than 8lb and very finesse lures like a 4" senko in watermelon. Look for any kind of weeds you can find, and if there are not many weeds go to boat docks. Skip under them. 8-)
  8. Where I come from those fish are huge!!!! Weather it's in a pond on live bait or your in middle of Lake Erie fishing a tube, YOU ARE FISHING!!! Catching big ones is even better. Brag away!!!
  9. I was planning on going there also. Also about 150 miles from my house. Glad I did not go!! Seams like an awesome lake!!
  10. Just to let every one know I have still been useing the palomar knot, but i have been tieing and inspecting very carefully and it has worked GREAT!! Takeing my time and making sure that my knot is very wet and watching so I don't burn the line worked for me.. Last sunday I caught at least 15 fish and three of them were over three pounds, never had a problem!! Thanks for all the help ;)
  11. Thanks for all of the suggestions, I will try them.
  12. I keep breaking off right at the knot whith fluorocarbon line when I am setting the hook. Is there a special way to tie this line?? I am useing a palomar knot currently. I also get line twist terrible with fluorocarbon. Is there anything besides swivels that will help this??
  13. WOW !!!!!! This is amazing to me I have fished for years mostly from a boat and never even thought about carrying a gun, or for that matter being robbed on the water. But I'm glad I read all the responses, it has opened my eyes. Probably still will not carry a gun be I will be more alert to other people.
  14. That reminds me of rideing in my buddies boat ( A Gambler) a long time ago. That thing was never in the water. I remember looking straight ahead one time and seeing nothing but clouds!! :-[
  15. 50 yard seams like plenty to you and me, but like the one guy said just being on the lake is to close for some people. You did nothing wrong.
  16. She must have taught you well though, You know when you have had your bass kicked!! ;D ;D Awesome fish. Go MOM
  17. I think the best part is when you stick a bass and you feel your rod load up and you know it's a big one, once I get them in the boat it feels the same as, just after I shoot a deer with my bow!! When I quit getting this feeling I'll quit fishing!!
  18. A black buzzbait does work very well, but also a black spinner bait is deadly. It's not top water but I think it works better for night time fishing . Try 1/2 ounce with a single black nickle blade.
  19. You could try cheap glasses with differnt colored lenses to find what you like. Then you could spend what ever you wanted on what you realy want in a brand. I use oakly's with grey lens for sunny days, and solar bats with amber lens for cloudy days. can you believe it my wife bought me the oakly's for christmas. She is awesome!!!!
  20. Come on tell the truth, witch one of you really caught that fish?? lol
  21. Nice fish, thats a good way to start out the season!! I would say about 3 pounds.
  22. Thanks that was a good video!!
  23. Hey Jon, you can use any kind of scale you want. Here are few other items you could probably use: A trowable floation device Fishing net Good set of pliers I also keep side cutters in case I have to snip off a hook barb in a fishes gullet or out of me! A couple of towels Good scissors to cut line. A weigh bag A balance board ( take the guess work out of witch fish is bigger) Hope this helps. I have a tournament tomorrow hope I need to use my culling system!!
  24. I wish they made DD bass were I live. We settle for 5 and 6 pounders!! Still gets my blood flowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Try a Manns Hard nose frog, these baits stay on the hook very well without sliding down. Plus It sinks so I can stop it in the holes and let it flutter down.
