  1. I use 20lb Tatsu and I am totally satisfied with it and I hope you are too. Goodluck
  2. Sorry this is a little off topic and on topic at the same time this just made me think…… every time I’ve bought a new baitcaster when it arrives and I take it out of the box the drag is always clamped down……. Why would the manufacturers do this? I too back my drags off when I’m not using them, not to nothing at all but very close.
  3. Braid is the one line I don’t care about brand or using a good/premium line unlike my mono and fluorocarbon I just want a braid that won’t let me down when I need it most so I just use power pro it’s cheap and works….. maybe when I run out I’ll try smackdown to do my due diligence to give myself an advantage on the water. But we’ll see ??‍♂️
  4. No I haven’t used all 6 of those lines but I have used invizx, Tatsu, sniper, and shooter but I haven’t used assassin or abrazx. For those two I’m just assuming they would be better if they’re anything like the other fluorocarbon in their respected brands lineup and from what I’ve read and seen online the only line I actually use regularly as in everytime I go fishing is Tatsu these days….. the other 3 I mentioned and have used I’ve bought spools and used them up entirely but it was basically a trail and error time where I used many different lines and brands to find the line I liked best and that was Tatsu since then I’ve never had a reason to switch…… I have also tried the trilene 100% and what I didn’t like was that it was a very thick line per breaking strength and not as manageable as I’d like…… the stretch honestly didn’t bother me I liked using invizx for a period of time and it is a very stretchy line so that wasn’t an issue I wasn’t trying to say the trilene line is a bunch of junk but that there’s quite a few other lines out there that are better…… if you care about using a better line that was my advice
  5. Veritas plx winch if you really wanna save some money and still have a good rod. That’s my vote
  6. X2 A good Buzzbait bite is top notch ????
  7. Gen4 Revo X 7.3:1 ratio Veritas PLX 7’3 Heavy/Fast 50lb regular power pro booyah pad crashers or spro bronze eye frogs both popping and walking only frogs I own I bring my frog rod with me on every outting on my kayak (I’m a yak fisher) since the rod has a couple uses for me, living in Canada I only throw it when it starts getting nice and warm out which is around may here and I’ll throw it to the fall then the frog goes away, I try to throw it as much as I can because it’s such a darn fun technique and almost every lake here has a ton of Lillie’s
  8. As I recommended before the revo X has an aluminum frame and brass gears it’s durable and great for the application and quite budget friendly, if you want to spend more get a revo sx, If you want to spend even more get a revo stx….. they all have aluminum frames and brass gears the main difference will be the smoothness and braking system for casting…… I use the revo x because it’s cheap and for the price and application I’m 100% satisfied If you don’t like Abu go with the lews or tatula I saw earlier you said you have interest in those two. Between the two you will be taken care of just fine, I’d lean towards the tatula because it has such a high reputation, but regardless I’m sure you’ll be happy with whatever you get
  9. So you frog fish the slop with a 5speed reel and 20lb braid? So I’m clear on my reading of this. I’m not saying thats wrong. I’m just saying it’s the opposite from what I see idk 95% of people use. ??‍♂️ BUT if it works best for you, fill your boots and catch some fish. Enjoy.
  10. Get a strong rod, a fast gear reel, and some 50-65lb braid and go throw a frog That works from “Connecticut to California” as the great Roland Martin would say
  11. Another vote for the 7 speed it’s easier for me to slow down a 7 speed than speed up a 6 that’s just my preference though
  12. I use 20lb Tatsu ??‍♂️
  13. Get the rocket ? those reels are so sweet
  14. I too live in Canada and I use a 4th gen Abu Garcia revo X HS for my froggin setup and it does the job I think very well. The 7.3 ratio is fast enough for me and the 18lbs drag is plenty strong for frogs and it’s on the cheaper side for us Canadians. Still has an aluminum frame too so you don’t have to worry about the reel flexing or anything under load or at least mine doesn’t. That would be my recommendation if you wanna save a couple bucks but ya know get what you feel works best. Goodluck ??
  15. Congrats on that combo as an Abu guy I bet that combo is amazing! Enjoy
  16. You’d be better off going with Seaguar invizx, abrazx, or (Tatsu if you’re rich) or Sunline sniper, shooter, or assassin all of those lines are better in my opinion
  17. I have a 6’6 MF split grip premier and a 7’1 MHF mojo and I will say I like the feel of the mojo for the reason that it feels like a “true” medium heavy fast. The premier defiantly fishes stiffer than it’s rating feels very close to a medium heavy as opposed to the medium it’s rated as. I’d also say the mojo feels a tad more sensitive due to the better blank but it’s not this major difference in that aspect. Either way you get st croix’s awesome warranty so that’s the real win in my opinion
  18. I saw on Abu Garcia’s Instagram that they’re officially releasing the zenon baitcasting reel but of course I can’t find any info on it price or specs etc so I was wondering if anyone else out there knows anything about this new reel? Thanks
  19. I’ve thought about adding a spinning setup because I will admit throwing unweighted or very lightly weighted plastics isn’t exactly easy on baitcasting gear for me I can do it but it’s no cakewalk. I appreciate the input @finessegenics it’s something I gotta think about maybe pulling the trigger on and maybe just substituting the heavy cover setup and spinning depending on what lake I’m at that day and as for the bass fishing in bc it’s all in southern bc. If you like fishing for small mouth it’s a blast we have lots of smallies but the quantity of lakes compared to the states or eastern Canada probably isn’t as good. But osoyoos lake in osoyoos is a very good largemouth lake and the okanagan in general has better largemouth fishing, on the island the two lakes we have for largemouth are quite good, 7 pounders are a realistic catch here not a daily thing but they are there
  20. Looking for opinions on my fishing setup and if there’s anything I should switch out to become more versatile. I fish from a kayak exclusively, almost never bank fish. So I only have 3 rod + reel combos because it’s ideal for me in my kayak to carry that. the kayak is a feelfree lure 10 v2 I drive a small car so I needed something I could unload and load up onto my roof racks by myself. Although I will admit it takes quite a bit of strength to load it up onto the roof Setup #1 Abu Garcia Revo X HS with 14lb Sunline super natural mono St croix premier 6’6 Medium Fast (the cabelas split grip special that is extremely overpriced) On this combo I throw whopper ploppers 75 and 90 size only rebel pop r’s jerkbaits 1/2ounce red eye Shad’s and lastly 1.5 Kvd square bills Worth noting the rod has a rating of 1/4-3/4 ounce baits so it does a decent job with these baits in my opinion but maybe someone has a better rod recommendation setup #2 abu Garcia Revo SX with 20lb Tatsu st croix mojo bass 7’1 mediumheavy fast (post 2016 model) On this combo I throw 1/2 ounce spinnerbaits 1/2 and 1/4 ounce jigs soft plastic swimbaits on weighted swimbait hooks Savage gear 4play v2 multi jointed swimbaits and lastly any Texas rigged plastics worms and craws etc setup #3 abu Garcia Revo X HS with 50lb braid Abu Garcia Veritas plx Ltd 7’3 heavy fast on this combo I throw frogs and then just jigs and plastics for flipping and pitching it is worth noting that I live on Vancouver island in Canada and that my island only has 2 lakes with largemouth so my 3rd setup doesn’t get much use in comparison to #1 and #2 because I fish for small mouth a lot of the time i know this post is quite large and I am obviously new here but I appreciate any input anyone has or anyone will read all this, but im open to opinions on how I could utilize a 3 rod setup better for all those baits listed above
  21. Between just these two baitcasting rods which one would be better for bottom contact baits? I’m curious what people think about the sensitivity between the two rods, or would I be better off upgrading to say the Veritas plx tournament edition rod?
