Question on a Pickerel I caught
I have been catching pickerel quite a bit this spring, but when I went fishing on a friends boat on a small pond in Massachusetts, I caught 2 of the biggest ive seen. Granted I havent been an avid fishermen for a long time, but i thought these were some big ones. My question is are these some of the bigger pickerel you've seen, or are they average in size. I know the Massachusetts state record is a little over 9lbs. Also, i didnt take measurements, but about what size do you think these guys are? (for reference, the guy holding the fish is 6'3" and has some big arms) I think the picture of the darker fish was a bigger one as far as girth...just was curious about my catch and wanted to consult some experts Thanks here is a link to the fish I caught: http://www.massbassin.com/trips/200705/may1407.htm

Stratos 176XT
Thanks for the post...im looking at this boat right now. I am talking to dealers about this boat and just got this email: The 176XT with 60HP ETEC and the other options already in the boat, this boat is going for $17,500.00. How were u able to get that kind of deal with an extra 10hp?? I live in Mass., but shouldnt this boat be much cheaper?

In the market for a new boat
When buying a boat from a dealer, whether new or used, should these be treated like a car? i.e. you can talk down the price during negoations or is it more like you pay the price you see. If you can negoatiate the price of a 16-18k boat, what % can you get off typically? Thanks

In the market for a new boat
and what are they, exactly? A boat i should stay away from? A decent boat with a good price? Since both my brother and i have never owned a boat before, would it be a better idea to buy a used boat instead of a new one?

In the market for a new boat
I just went to a large boat dealer to check out boats. I live in the New England area and want to fish the big waters all around new england. My brother and i just checked out the nitro 750 and the nitro 482. They seemed like nice boats in our price range so we are considering buying one. After doing some homework on bass boats for about a month, my only question is ive heard from some people that nitro boats are junk and from others that they are just fine. Before we go purchase our first boat, i just wanted to make sure that nitro's are a quality boat or if we should look into other options. Thanks.

Rhino lining on my 10' boat
Hey guys, My buddy just gave me his old 10' great canadian boat. Its in pretty good condition but takes on a little bit of water when 2 people are in the boat. My question is if i made sure the boat was nice and dry and put rhino lining (liner for truck beds) on the entire boat (bottom and inside) if this would fix the problem of taking on a little water AND if she would have no problem floating, etc. i.e. something like this: http://www.autobarn.net/herspraytruc.html Please let me know if this is a good idea or not Thanks

Small 10-12' boat questions
Hi Ive been looking at Dicks sporting goods website and target and I am thinking about buying one of these boats: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2131681&cp=2367824.2291514.2291518.2291568&view=all&parentPage=family&searchId=2291568 My questions: 1. Is there anywhere I can pick these kinds of boats locally (So i dont have to pay $250 shipping) (I live in Mass) 2. Will a 36lb thrust trolling motor be fine for my only source of power on the boat? Will I go thru a lot of batteries if i only use a trolling motor to get around on ponds/small lakes? 3. My friend has an old trailer that was used for a 14' boat -- will that be fine to bring the boat around on my 2007 Toyota camry? I am a total boat newbie but I just graduated college and have a job so i want to make a small step into getting into boating. Any help at all will be appreciated. Thanks guys!
