Rate the different brands of braided line.....
I mainly use power pro and fire line, like the power pro much better, doesn't seem to twist as much over time for some reason.

Okuma Gear
I think fish chris uses okuma? But I was wondering if anyone else in here did also. I have one reel from them and love it, looking to make another purchase, and am thinking okuma. Any comments on their brand would be great! Also, is there a big difference in getting the Dick's Sports line of reels vs getting it straight from Okuma, or a dealer?

Any word from the Cape?
Hey guys, My brother and I are itching to get our boat out ASAP. I figured the best place for us to go would be the cape early on. Is there any ice on the ponds/freshwater bodies of water in the cape? I am in central Mass, but i know those costal areas ice out faster. Also, have the bass started to become more active? I think we are planning to head down March 15. Any info/updates would be appreciated!

Best polarized sun glasses for fishing?
Those look great! Thanks for the link. I am going to check out the Dash SS at EMS tonight. I also like their size chart for what types of glasses fit what sized head...that was pretty helpful!

Best polarized sun glasses for fishing?
Yeah, both the half jackets and costa del mar filaments looked too wide and too big for my head. They also push my ears out from the way they are made. I would say i have an average sized head...nothing small...I guess you can see for yourself...haha Shot with FinePix A303 at 2008-01-08 I also think i like the Ray Ban Model listed here: http://www.worldofwatches.com/detail.asp?bo_products_variance_id=63645 The only problem with these is that i like the gunmetal/gray, but they arent polarized The funny thing is, I might sound like I am being picky, but I am not a picky person at all, I just want a nice pair of sunglasses that fit me!

Best polarized sun glasses for fishing?
Hey guys, I have looked high and low for a good pair of sun glasses that would fit me well. I have not had much luck. The standard oakleys do not fit my head well at all (too wide/big). I am looking for a good pair of sunglasses, maybe wire-type frames. I tried on some wire-type Oakley sunglasses at Dicks, but they didnt fit me well either! I bought the Costa Del Mar filament sunglasses over the winter time, but they did not fit me that great either (starting to see the pattern? lol). I am looking for some help! Please let me know what kind of polarized sun glasses you guys like that i should look into.

Best uses for my rods???
Great, thanks for the info. To give a little more information, I typically fish: spinnerbaits and crankbaits. This year my goal is to use more swimbaits, jigs and soft plastics. Like you menioned mattm, maybe i should get something with a little slower action to use for crankbaits and swimbaits? Maybe a MH medium action?? Anyone have any specific suggestions? links??

Best uses for my rods???
Hi guys, I am just starting to get really into fishing, and ive been buying some nicer setups. My question is, based on my setups listed below, what would be the best uses for the (worms/jigging, crank baits, etc): St Croix avid 6' M Fast action/diawa capricorn reel Grandt rod 6'6" MH Fast action and a shimano citica baitcaster. What are the best uses for both? The last question is, I am looking to buy one last nice rod in the $100 range. Based on my setups listed above, what would be my best option to add something a little different and not buy another pole that would serve the same function as one i already have. Thanks guys!

Problems with US Reels Supercaster
Anyone have thoughts on these reels? I've heard good and bad. I use more name brand gear, but have been thinking of a change, looking for your help on these super casters. Some negatives I've heard: Line is picked up by drag knob instead of spool, bail closes alot, the wider spool creates loops and knots, and you have to learn to feather the line during casts. Anyone had these problems, or success with US Reels?

X rap Shad rap from Rapala
What do you guys think of the fairly new shad rap? Just bought some, haven't had the chance to use them yet. Which size is best? How do you fish this lure, and what type of structures?

OKUMA!! QUALITY OR CRAP?
Okuma's are great for their prices. I have 2 reels, and 1 rod from them, love both, and didn't spend nearly as much for them as I did my Shimano, and flooger supreme!

St Croix Avid and G Loomis Spinning Rod Question
I love my St Croix Avids, 6'6 Med or 6'8 like these guys said would be good for what you want. Plus the Avid puts less of a hurtin on your wallet.

Daiwa VIP Smallmouth rods, and the US Reels?
Thanks for some imput, the rods appear to be good from the specs, and price. I'm usually a St Croix guy, but want to look at something different. I love smallie fishing too, so it seemed like a natural fit (with Champlain, Winnipesaukee and other Northeast Smallmouth lakes). Any other imput would be appreciated!

Does using BPS Premium Excel line or Power Pro have more potential to break rods?
Thanks guys, appreciate the imput. Rods are too expensive now to be taking chances!

Daiwa VIP Smallmouth rods, and the US Reels?
Has no one heard anything about these rods??? Or much about the supercaster?

Does using BPS Premium Excel line or Power Pro have more potential to break rods?
If you use power pro rated 20+ lb strength with a 6lb diameter, and have medium strength rods, does this pose a big problem testing rod strength? In your experience am I risking snapping my rods with this type of line?

Daiwa VIP Smallmouth rods, and the US Reels?
I was thinking about getting this as a new combo, but wanted a little feedback. Has anyone heard of, or know anything about the Daiwa VIP Smallie rods? Any feedback on the US supercaster xl? Thanks!
