  1. Bad Ika question?? :-[
  2. Thanks for the suggestions guys! I hope that the rain wont effect the fishing too much, we will see i guess. Surprise, surprise, RW picked an Ika for one of his lures RW, do you fish this weightless? Keep the responses coming, hopefully i will catch enough big fish that I can post a good trip report.
  3. Hmm, lets say you can see 6-8 feet down.
  4. Thanks for the reply. Lets hear some other ideas as well!
  5. Hi guys, in an effort to give me a better idea as to how to approach my fishing trip coming up, I decided to turn this into a little game . I am posing the following scenario: This lake is known for its smallmouth, but has also been productive for largemouth fishing as well. Your Conditions 1. Water Temp: 65 Degrees 2. Outside Conditions: 66 Degrees, Rain Showers 3. Map of the lake: http://mainegov-images.informe.org/ifw/fishing/lakesurvey_maps/kennebec/cobbosseecontee_lake.pdf 4. The fish are spawning Your Gear 1. 17' bass boat, 90HP 2. 3 Rods 3. Lures: Strike king coffee Tubes, Ikas, cranks (lucky craft rick clunn, rapala DT4, DT6, DT10, DT16), x raps, shad raps, rattle traps, mattlures baby bass, spinnerbaits, senkos, strike king king shad, minnow spins, drop shot gear. 4. Rain gear Given the above conditions, what would you use on your 3 rods and why? Where or what depth would you be fishing at, and why? I am trying to start to learn how to approach different unfamiliar lakes, and hearing the though process of the experienced anglers out there would be very helpful! I am voting for 1 coffee tube, 1 rick clunn 2.5 lucky craft crank, and 1 drop shot setup. Let me know what you guys would
  6. Hey guys, I am heading up to Cobbosseecontee Lake this weekend to do some fishing with my brother. I am extra excited because I just bought a new house and I have had no time to fish this season. I have never fished this spot, but i have heard a couple things: 1. The fishing can be great 2. It can be difficult to fish because each cove, etc. all looks good to fish, but sometimes they are just not holding fish. If some of you guys who head up there could give some info as to some good spots to test out, that would be great. I just ordered a few packs of the coffee tubes from strike king as well as some drop shotting worms. Im also planning on spinnerbaits, cranks and a strike king king shad. Do some of these techniques work better than others up there? I will have very few opportunities to get out fishing this season, so i am hoping for some good advice to help make my few trips as enjoyable/productive as possible! Any info/tips would be greatly appreciated. If i get some tips, ill be sure to come back and post some pics of some of the smallies that were caught this coming weekend. Thanks! Matt
  7. Hawg Caller, If you could dig up that link sometime, i would love to see it.
  8. Okuma Stratus is on sale from $80 down to 39.99. I have 2 Okuma's, and love them for the less costly gear I own. This looked like a pretty nice deal here, so wanted to let everyone know. Has anyone tried the Okuma Stratus spinning or baitcast reels yet? What do you think, is it a buy, or don't waste the $40?
  9. Can you access the lake from the river by boat?
  10. Is there a campground or anywhere to stay on merrymeeting? Instead of staying at winni and driving down? NEfish, is there anywhere to stay on Kezar anymore, I know the campground has been closed?
  11. Anyone try strike kings king shad, or lucky crafts real california hardbaits, what do you think of them? What about huddleston's new 6", any luck with them? What conditions do you guys typically use these baits, area, time of day, weather, etc, thanks.
  12. I just bought an avid, and paired it with a pflueger supreme, super light setup, and the reel is $100.
  13. Anyone seen good graphite fish mounts, or know of a place who makes quality ones? What type of information do you need to give these people about the fish so they can replicate it?
  14. What color do you guys like in the new huddleston?
  15. I live in Mass and fish northern New England quite a bit, so I don't use the monster swimbaits out there. What are your favorite swimbaits to use in our waters throughout the northeast? I favor the lucky craft real california in the 5" range, or strike kings king shad. For soft swimbaits, I run Matt Lures. Not sure if anyone has had luck with these, but would like to hear about your experiences, and your favorite swimbaits for our non california waters, thanks!
  16. XJMA, How is the bass fishing in Sebago, mor smallies or largemouths? I know this lake is widely fished for lake trout and other species, but don't hear much about the bass fishing up there. Thanks for the response.
  17. I read a older post on this, but still have questions on this type of line. I just bought a spool of pline fluorocarbon line, as I started to spool it seemed incredibly sensitive to twisting. Has anyone else had these problems, and how can you reduce the twisting? I bought this line for my soft plastic presentations. If I should not use fluorocarbon on my spinning setup, what should I replace the line with for a soft plastic setup?
  18. If you guys had to choose which lake was the most beautiful, or even the top few choices which would it be? I personally think the Rangeley area in Maine, and a bit of NH is fantastic. Pretty good smallmouth fishing in some of the area lakes and rivers as well.
  19. Just bought 1 and 3 a month ago, did the help much when you used them?
  20. I'd like to hear an opinion on this too!
  21. What are some of your favorite bass books on fishing New England's waters?
  22. Where did you get the rod? I have one from about 3 years ago I got at Walmart, can't find them anywhere now, curious as to where you got one?
  23. Let me know how you like the 6'6 guide select, I was thinking of picking one up too, thanks for the feedback!
  24. I think we are heading to Mashpee next weekend. Ill be back on here post some pics after our trip. ill let you guys know how i make out...Thanks
  25. Thanks guys, What are your favorite reels from okuma? Fluke, you said you paid $80 for one, was that the salina, or alumina? Anyone used the dicks sports made okumas?
