  1. What about for accuracy, not casting distance around cover, and docks? Any suggestions for crankin, or soft plastics?
  2. To add on this post... I'm looking for a new spinning rod. I have a 7'MH, two 6'6 M, and a 5'6 ultra light. I was thinking of getting a 6' M for jiggin near docks for accuracy. What's best for Crank Baits, and what's best for soft plastics and jigs? Hopefully this is more info than the original poster!
  3. Just bought my Avid today to pair with the Pflueger Supreme, thanks for all the imput guys! Now I just need the ice to melt!
  4. Thanks DJ. I'm going to buy an Avid, to go with a pflueger supreme reel. I'm guessing these won't be on sale? Did anyone see a price on the Browning Midas rods last year?
  5. By the way, does anyone know much about Grandt rods? Saw them at the New England fishing show last weekend, not sure if anyone uses, or heard of their rods?
  6. I'm leaning towards a St Croix Avid to go with my pflueger supreme spinning reel. My only other real quality setup is a St Croix, wasn't sure if I should try someone else, but they seem to have a great name, second to G Loomis in the rod category. Brownings Midas, and the All Star were other close considerations. Any final comments out there, or suggestions, I would really appreciate it!
  7. What type of sales can we expect at BPS for the spring classic? How good are the deals/sales they have, and is it all their branded stuff on sale, or do shimano, pflueger, st croix, and some of those brands get worked into this sale as well? We just had our BPS in Mass open this past fall, so it's our first spring classic, thanks for the input!
  8. I have a Sahara, nice reel for $60, just bought the supreme from Pflueger, but haven't used it yet. Seems like an awesome reel, smooth, super light, and a magnesium reel for under $500!
  9. Thanks Jake, great site! Are Fenwick HMG's black?
  10. Who's to say I haven't already been to the local shops and bps to see how the different rods feel, and then try to get a good deal from buying online? What's so amazing about that?
  11. What are some good web sites out there to buy from. Anyone know where to get pre 2008 avids on sale?
  12. I'm about to buy the pflueger supreme spinning reel, and want a nice rod to go with the setup. I want something really light in the medium/MH category. My thoughts were St Croix, G Loomis GL2, Falcon, All Star, or maybe a Browning Midas from BPS. What would you guys go with here? Thanks for your input!
  13. I'm leaning towards the Revo STX, they have a $50 rebate if you pair it with an all star rod. What type of rod should I get to go with this? Is all star a good choice, or should I go Falcon, St Croix, or someone like that? What are the best specs for a multi purpose pole, to throw spinnerbaits, jigs, plastics, etc? Thanks guys
  14. My only worry is the overcrowded lakes in Mass. Webster has a billion boats on it every weekend, are these other lakes a bit less crowded? What are some good lakes on the Cape, I've heard there's some great large mouth fishing down that way. Thanks for the responses guys!
  15. Thanks for your input, I don't know much about these reels, and there are so many choices!
  16. Which Abu should I look at, the SX, or STX? Would you guys go Shimano or Abu? What about the Quantum Energy, heard some good things about that too? Thanks for the help!
  17. I have a new boat, and would like to make some great fishing trips this summer to different lakes in new england. I'm new to the boating scene, so I was hoping to get your imput on some trips I should make this year. I already setup a trip for Lake Umbagog, and Sebago!
  18. I'm a beginner to baitcasters, looking to buy one for the upcoming spring. What's a good model, that will limit backlashing? I don't mind spending from 100-250. Does anyone know much about the Browning Midas Models? Thanks!
  19. Thanks for the help...i will be sure to keep you updated! As for what I caught her on, I believe it was a t-rigged berkley tequila sunrise worm. This is one area that I know for sure holds some good size bass for these areas, so i am def. going to get back there during the spawn this spring.
  20. Hi Guys, I was looking through some old pics from this summer and stumbled upon this photo. This was the biggest bass I caught over this past summer. This was the first year I have really started fishing and I wasnt able to get out much since I graduated college and started working full time. Since I am getting some cabin fever up here in MA, I thought I would share a pic of a nice bass and some nice scenery behind it. If you have an approximate guess as to how much she weighed, that would be pretty cool to know. I already cant wait for next year!
  21. Hey guys, As you might have read in the summer, I bought a 17' fishing boat. My problem was that every time I went out, I stuck real close to shore every time I went and was not able to find many fish, prob because they were in some deeper water. I think the reason i did this was because I fished from the shore my whole life. My question is are there any good books that I can read that will help me be able to locate more fish at different times during the season? I feel like I need to utilize my fish finder a little better to find and fish structure found not so close to the shore. Thanks, Matt
  22. I think i am just going to spend some extra $ and get this rod: http://www.histackleboxshop.com/G-Loomis-Jig-Worm-Bass-Casting-BCR852-Mossyback-p/sale-gloomis-bcr852-mossyback.htm Does anyone own one of these? good rod for what I am trying to do?
  23. Thanks for the advice guys. Since I have not heard anything specific, I am going to double check: Should my AS60MF rod be the spinnerbait, crankbait rod and this new one will be used for jigs/worms? My gameplan for the new rod is to wait and check this month/next month for any good sales and try to save myself a few bucks on a good rod. From what i have read here over the last year or so, it seems like people are in agreement that 2 real good setups beat 6+ average setups.
  24. I have looked online and at my local Dicks sporting goods, but i could not find the avids for less than $130 (at Reeds online)...any other places I could look?? maybe some links?
  25. Hi guys, I am currently looking for a new rod for the new Shimano Citica baitcaster i bought. My problem is that I just bought a new spinning setup and i do not want to buy another rod that will do the same thing. I have a Diawa Capricorn reel with a St. Croix Avid AS60MF rod. The goal is to have a setup that will be best for fishing worms/jigs and the other setup to use for spinnerbaits, crankbaits, etc. I am thinking i should use the St croix I currently have for spinnerbaits/crankbaits and buy my baitcast rod for worms/jigs. I am looking to spend less than $130 on a rod. I am not sure if i should go with a St Croix, Falcon, maybe a Browning midas, or this that I saw on another post in this section: http://www.histackleboxshop.com/G-Loomis-Jig-Worm-Bass-Casting-BCR852-Mossyback-p/sale-gloomis-bcr852-mossyback.htm If there are any other suggestions for my new setup, please let me know! Thanks!
