  1. There is this funny bright shinny object in the sky that just appeared over the Twin Lakes area. Anyone have a clue what it is? ;D
  2. First it was the Ice, then came the back to back Snow storms (FLW held bass tounament during one on March 6 on Lake Norfork) and for the last two days we had 12 inches of rain in Mounatin Home and both Lake Norfork and Bullshoals have plenty of water in them! Ahhhhhhh! http://stren.flwoutdoors.com/photo.cfm?id=28170 But I did stop building an Ark after the animals stopped gathering together at the top of the hill tops.
  3. Because of one idiot there is now a warning on snow blowers. "Not for use on Roofs!" As my two daughters always said when they were younger. Dahhhhh!!!!
  4. That's not a problem.
  5. Sadly, you guys missed the point and the spirit of the original post completely. I would encourage you to re-read my original post, especially the last few lines. No where did I "berate" or "disparage the character" of anyone, past, present or returned. Would you mind explaining this comment further? If it's in response to anything I wrote, you severely misinterpreted something. No, I agree in general with your post. My reply was to those that accuse others of giving the finger to the forum because they chose to no longer be a part of this forum when those making such public observations have no idea why someone may have chosen to leave. So, sadly please read, the other responses to your original post. No where did I say you "berated" or "disparaged the character" of anyone, past, present or returned. I'm sorry you failed to understand my post as I was trying not to single out people however since you went there I hope I have made it clear for you now.
  6. Everyone has the right to have their opinion. Some opinions are constructive while others are not. I deleted my original persona for a reason and I returned for a completely different reason than I originally joined. Everyone has their own reasons for joining and or remaining here. I see no value in berating those that have chosen to leave for reasons not known however.
  7. Has anyone used any of these? River2Sea Stand'n Yabbie. http://www.***.com/videos/RSY.html?pcode=RSY

Thanks so very much Muddy!!! I am blessed because I have for lack of a better description a "guardian" who has watched over me since I was a small child. You may call him my "Guardian Angel" if you wish or not, but my point here is that both Muddy and I, though we have traveled different paths have come to the same place in life. He is blessed, so am I, and if this group or any of its members can be of a help to you please do not hesitate to post or just send a personal message to a member. We have members that care and have walked in your shoes so if you need a caring heart that has suffered pain I can share mine and so can members just like Muddy that know what it is like to be limited by illness or additions of many types. Family members are also more than welcome to join in as you are just as affected as those with illness and addiction. You don't have to tell about your problems if you don't want to. We are just here to help and for support. We are here for this forum's members and their families because we care.
  9. Since I was a child, I have experienced dreams especially recurring ones that come true. Sometimes the dreams come true shortly afterward but the longest time afterward was three years. For example: while I was in High School I started having a dream about this strangely constructed building. It was very modernistic and in my dream I had a hard time finding its entrance. As the dream kept recurring it became more vivid and complex as I found my way into the building wandered around inside and noted its construction. I even met a blond girl in a blue dress standing by one of the large structural columns of the building. I don't recall her name now as it was all long ago. This dream recurred repeatedly over three years 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. I forgot about it during my first year in college as it did not recur however I had to change from a private to a public university my sophomore year and had to attend a new student orientation. As I rounded the corner of a pathway to the new just open student building I walked into my dream and was rather taken aback for a moment. Then I thought oh well if my dream was true then the entrance should be just around here and it was. So was the column with the blond girl in the blue dress and I introduced myself since I already knew her name which turned out was correct. Weird! You bet! I don't understand how such things happen and don't claim anything but I know they do happen because they sometimes happen to me. I have zero idea when it is going to occur. It happens when it happens. I know most people don't believe in such things (as a general rule neither do I); but then that is why it is so disconcerting when it occurs to me. I have learned however over my 58 years to take head of things when that small voice inside says warning because dreams are not the only warnings that have saved my life many times. Someone is looking over me and for that I am eternally thankful.

Thank you for your kind words, my sister was truly special. Her son and I are the last of our imediate family now. Major illnesses and cancer have taken the rest even those far younger than I am. It's easy to wonder why sometimes but then like my sister, and my father I know they were ready and at peace with dying. My family has always been different about the fear of dying. When my father passed all the nurses in the cancer ward marveled at his calm, peace, and the expression left on his face after he died. I lost my fear back in 1972 on Okinawa (long story). It's easier when you can stay or go and be happy about it either way.

Since, I am the one that named this group, can I take over un-official sponsorship of the group until Avid comes back? Is that ok with the groups members? This group is my principle reason for being active here so if I can be of any help to anyone please contact me. Re: Political/Regious posts Reply #7 - Feb 24th, 2007, 8:01pm PapaRock. Glenn has made it clear that you are not banned. On behalf of the broken fins fishing fools - the name you suggested if you recall, please reconsider your decision to withdraw. you could choose a similar name P_Rock - sounds so hip hop it would fit you to a tee (LOL) Anyway, I just thought you should know that I have had several PM's from broken fins expressing dismay over your departure. You are one of the foundations of our community within the community. If you can reconcile yourself to Glenns new posting paradigm then I urge you to re-join. You are missed. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best. Sincerely, avid

I understand where you are coming from. As the platoon leader of the Drug Suppression Platoon 1971-1972 on Okinawa in the US Army I had a twofold duty; first to identify and catch drug offenders and then to oversee the security of the drug ward at the military hospital. Believe me; I witnessed a lot of turnarounds and tragedies of the human experience during that time long ago. I saw people make huge miraculous recoveries but I also the depravity a human can sink to were my men and I had to take human life to save others lives. Humans go through life and the one thing each and every one of us has to do that defines us and the life we live as well as how it will end is the choices we make. So often we make choices so casually without realizing just how life changing or ending they can be but only each of us are responsible for our own choices. Only we can change our own choices. Like facing disease we can choose to be mad and bitter at the world, God and take it out on everyone around us and everyone we meet and I am sure we all have met those types or we can choose to meet it as something that happens, a challenge, and live life to the fullest while we are here. My sister is an inspiration to me. Let me tell you about my beautiful sister. She was three years younger than me and died at the age of 45 from one of the most virulent forms of breast cancer. Her name was Pam and most women that went through the life she did would have turned very bitter and mad but not Pam. She was beaten and abandoned by two different husbands that also cheated on her. Pam was five feet nine, blonde, with a figure to die for that did charity modeling in Houston, Texas besides her normal corporate headhunter job. The cancer ravaged her body and her looks but what did my beautiful sister do? She reached out to other women going through what she was, teaching them makeup tips, fashion tips and encouraging them. On the night she died in the hospital as I was about to leave because I had to go to work early the next morning, she took my hand, smiled, and said It's OK Bubba, I'm going to get to see Dad before you do. She died that night at the age of 45. What defines us are the choices we make in life. My sister made AWESOME choices in how she reacted to the bad things that came her way in life while so many around her made such bad ones and hurt her so badly. Like I said, my sister is my inspiration!!!

Thank you, jrhennecke, for your kind words. Please do not hesitate to PM me about anything and or post to this thread. Please mark it on your favorites since it has been removed as a sticky.

As we all grow older jrhennecke, things happen. You saw a lot of my posts as Paparock early own and I along with others are still around if you need support. I have gout, high blood pressure, diabetes, and a demyelinating nerve disease that after ten years the specialists have not determined exactly what it is. At my first specialist thought it was MS, my second thought it was toxic poly neuropathy and my present one says we may never know exactly what it is but just try to control the symptoms. We all have to live life each day as it comes with some better than others. I am the last member of my immediate family left alive even my sister three years younger and my first cousin also three years young have died. My grandfather died at age 60 from lung cancer, my father died at age 60 from a combination of colon, liver, and pancreatic cancer; my sister died at age 45 from the most virulent form of breast cancer and I have already had one lymph node with pre-cancer cells removed and an extremely large colon pre-cancel polyp removed. I say all this not for sympathy because it will do me no go, but to tell others we all must use the time we have because there is no guarantee of tomorrow. I am going to be 59 this December and no one knows how long I have on this earth. I may not see my birthday and I may be here thirty years. We all should plan for the future as if we are going to see our great-great-grandchildren but live each day to the fullest as if each day might be our last. That way nothing gets left undone no matter what happens. While Avid, Muddy, and I all came here around the same time there are others who you read about on this thread that will gladly reach out a helping hand or lend a shoulder any time you need it.

Can you say why it was removed from being a "Sticky"? It was a support group for members with varying degrees of disabilities to make contact, support each other, share ideas about medications that work for them, maybe get together to fish, and to encourage each other. The posts to the group came in spurts and clusters many times separated by long pauses but it was on the front page where new people with like problems could see there were others available for them to contact and get support. I just don't understand why suddenly it was removed from being a Sticky. It's not that the owner of this site cannot do what he wants, it just that after it has been there for so long and so many have used it; I don't understand why it was suddenly removed as a Sticky.
  16. I know the Mattlures Shad is for sale at Turners Outdoorsman in California. I have emailed Matt at the Mattlures site about the Shad's availability but have not heard back yet. Here on Bull Shaols, shad are the main forage fish of the bass so I am really looking forward to trying some!
  17. Try the link now as I think I fixed the problem.
  18. I have got to get some of these! Matt, I don't see them on your site are they for sale yet? Video: see at http://www.tackletour.com/menufishingvideos.html under the heading Exclusive first look: Mattlures Mattshad

Let's keep Avid in our thoughts and prayers, for he will be missed here and perhaps they will reach him to encourage him to return if for no other reason to participate in this section of the forum. He started this support thread and I wish him the best in whatever he now chooses to do.
  20. If anyone has spoken to Avid lately PM me.
  21. Some of us old timers just come back after leaving the forum, change our screen names and then don't post as much as we used to do. I thought something must have happened since I didn't see Avid responding to "Broken Fin Fishing Fools" posts anymore; which he thought up and I named back when I was Paparock (I deleting my profile). Now I rarely Post under my new name. His wit will be missed and his caring for those here that have physical limitations by starting the Broken Fin Fishing Fools as an online support group for those with physical limitation that restrict their ability to fish and or enjoy our chosen sport. Where people can make contact and then if they want trade personal contact info., ask for help, prayers , or whatever is needed. This can be done on the open forum or by contacting any of the posters on the Broken Fin Fishing Fools section by Personal Message or by email if their screen name supports that function. Good-bye Avid, perhaps you will return as you encouraged me to do when I left.
  22. I am about to purchase a Springfield XD CUSTOM in .45 ACP for my concealed carry gun when I finish my CCL class. Excellent pistol! I have owned and shot a Glock 21 and much prefer the XD to the Glock but then that is just my personal opinion. I see no reason the .40 would not be a great gun also.
  23. I did that once myself, Matt Fly back a long time ago under my old Paparock handle.
  24. Catt, you have my prayers, my youngest daughter ways raped years ago.
  25. Burley, There is a good reason why people say " good fences make good neighbors." If you would like a dog that would not bark then buy a "barkless" dog. Yes, there is such a breed of dog, the Basenji. I have owned one and they are a great breed and they are barkless! http://www.basenji.org/ They are also great inside dogs as they do not have the musk gland that gives other dogs that funky smell and they clean themselves just like a cat does. Basenjis do not yap incessantly, but they are not mute. They have a delightful sound some owners describe as a yodel. Basenjis usually come into season only once a year (in the fall).
