It covers multi species but they make several bass books that might help you

I bet the guys that own the Tactical Bassin channel make more from it than the average pro. And some guys fish more than one circuit, the NPFL picked up some big names this season.
  3. They did a shock test many years ago on the reservoir I learned to bass fish on as a kid, Little River reservoir in Durham, NC. There was a 22 lb largemouth in there. You never know where a monster may be lurking. Unless you're scoping, I suppose...
  4. Lookup Manabu Kurita, was a 22 lber caught in Japan next to a bridge piling
  5. Some big fish will only take live bait. You can try a Thill big fish slider rig with a live bluegill, credit card sized. I was fishing a pond for crappie one day amd swimming my lure on top and a little bluegill was following it. Out of nowhere a 9-10+ lm comes up and just inhales it and swims off. Got my adrenaline going. I've hooked into a monster bass twice at the same pond and lost it twice, both times on live bait. Was like hooking into a cinder block with a heavy rod. If you can get some black salties they'll work well too and keep better than shiners. Some people believe live bait fishing is sacrilige but tell that to Roland Martin and the guy that caught the world record on a bluegill
  6. The dude caught that bass while catfishing jug lines with chicken nuggets apparently. I wouldnt expect to catch many bass like thaf
  7. Attach the split ring to the eye of the hook. Throw it out weightless and let it sink to desired depth, then reel and twitch twitch, reel and twitch twitch
  8. Attach the split ring to an an offset Gamakatsu 4\0 roundbend worm hook, then attach a #7 barrel swivel and a 1/8 oz spinner blade. You'll need split ring pliers
  9. After aquiring hundreds of dollars of lures I don't use and need to go get snagged or catch a fish, I've settled this year on my roots with a t rigged Power worm with an 1/8 oz bullet weight unpegged, then a 4" Rage Craw in pbj which I highly recommend, I attach a split ring to an offset worm hook with a swivel and spimner blade with a rage craw weightless. And then a rapala shallow shad rap. I love crankbait fishing but the t rigged plastics just allow you to fish in places most lures won't go, and there lie the big mommas
  10. I caught my pb lm from the bank scoping out a new spot on an afternoon in January a few years ago. I was just testing lures out and threw out a rapala purple glass shad rap and was just slowly reeling in when I got snagged. But then the line started moving sideways and I said, that's a fish!! Caught about an 8 lber, I would post a pic but it says file to big. I've learned that spot is good because it's shallow water next to a steep dropoff to over 15 feet, if you can find something like this you'll usually find fish
  11. Here's a good article from the In-Fisherman that talks about scent https://www.in-fisherman.com/editorial/scent-for-bass-does-it-matter/154644
  12. Notice how many fish were snagged in this last bassmaster tourney that Palaniuk won. Scent would make them commit to the bait better than just swiping at it, imo. Figure it's leaving a trail in the water for them to hone in on. Turns followers into swallowers
  13. I don't use anise, I don't like the smell of licorice, but I know there's 2 kinds, there's star anise and anise seed. I think the anise seed oil is the best. Mr. Crappie strike king baits have it in them, but I highly doubt they use stuff from the pharmacy if it's $30+ an ounce
  14. "For the guys who want the purest anise oil, this is the finest grade oil available anywhere! Don't get ripped off at the pharmacy paying for pharmaceutical grade oil. Our oil is 1/100 of a percent less pure. Except for the savings you'll never tell the difference. The perfect oil to add to make any scent into an anise scent. You don't have to use much, it is very potent."
  15. It's certainly an interesting topic. The guy that invented Gulp! also said that gasoline did not affect fish. I've also seen where people get one drop on their fingers and dont get a bite after. As far as the water solible vs oil based, shad are an oily fish. Skipjack, which big blue cat chasers prefer, are oily. Lots of saltwater fish like menhaden are oily. Does that make them more appetizing to predator fish, I dont know, but they like them. But I'll say I caught my pb lm in January from the bank on a rapala shad rap with no scent added, it was around 8 lbs if i had to guess. But without a doubt a fish can inhale and spit a lure in the blink of an eye, so if it gives me an extra split second for a good strike I think it's worth it
  16. https://www.pro-cure.com/products/pure-anise-oil Says it is. What brand do you recommend??
  17. People that know, know. Others just haven't figured it out yet. But with so many "attractants/coverscents," which one's actually work. One I really like is Pro Cure super gels. I learned about Pro Cure from an angler on Fishbrain called Slinglines that would always be posting pics of big 5 and 6 lb smallmouth. He said he was using Pro Cure, I think it was Crawfish gel. I have the shad gel, garlic plus gel, and Trophy bass gel. I also have the inshore salt water for surf fishing. They make pretty much any scent you can think of except insect. They're made from real bait then amino acids are added. I have oily skin and human skin oils are repulsive to fish, so I like a cover scent. I know these scents don't hurt so I use them Pro Cure makes Pharmaceutical grade anise oil
  18. Bill Dance recommends bending jig hooks up to where when you close your hand with the jig in it you can feel the hook point
  19. Frog hooks are really strong, bending them a little won't cause them to straighten. Seth Feider does it, he probably knows what he's talking about.
  20. Trimming the skirt helps with short strikes and makes the frog look more natural.
  21. I bent the hooks up and out on two of my Booyah poppin pad crasher's, accidentally damaged 3 out of 4 barbs so be careful. You have to use some force but don't break the hook, just bend up enough to where when you run your finger over the back of the frog you feel the hook point. I'm getting the frog trailer hooks to go on mine and increase hookup %
