This is so awesome! You need to see it!
I didn't even notice those... I was too busy with my jaw, after I dropped it on the keyboard... That is the fish I want to catch! lol But what would you throw at it? A rubber croc?! lol That is absolutely insane! I am still in awe over that!

This is so awesome! You need to see it!
I was looking for my new tackle bag online, and came across this little video! It is a large mouth eating a croc! You have to see it to believe it... http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/1171604763/Crazy_Fish_Eats_an_Unexpected_Animal

So I made a mistake...
I would keep it around, until you can decide what to do with it. You never know when you will get the idea on a build, and could use it! So many times, have I thrown something out, and decided I needed it a few days later... lol

Go-To
I haven't used a whole lot... But my list would go something like this; 1.) Berkeley beast 2.) Snag proof original frog 3.) Heddon mini torpedo 4.) Senko worm Texas rigged 5.) Finesse worm Texas rigged 6) finesse worm on a drop shot rig That's about it. On those I have had really good hits on most of those, or I have had a fish. The Berkeley beast is at the top of the list, as I have caught my PB on it.

Anyone use FLW (WALMART PLASTICS)
I might have to pick some of those up this afternoon. Are they a worm, or some kind of shad? It couldn't hurt if they are that cheap...

Jigs for soft plastic
Can't go wrong with a gammy! Very good hooks. I don't think I will ever find a better hook for the job! They hold up very well, in many conditions, and they seem to make great looking jigs! I have some gamakatsu's on my 1/4oz heads... I have them in green, and red hooks, on pink/white, green/white, respectively! I think my GF bought them at a walmart near me... Very awesome looking jigs, and well worth the money!

Home made shakey jig
That makes sense. Thanks for that help! I have to get me some of these, then...

jitterbug
I have heard about the black being great, but the favorite of mine, would be a frog colored... Basically, I would retrieve it after 5 seconds, then jig it a couple times, make it pop a bit, then reel, jig, etc... I get a desired effect!

Jig or Worm?
Personal preference. Do you want to further your cast/sink rate? Then go with a small jig. I would say a 1/16oz, maybe a little larger at a 1/8th oz. You decide. You could go even larger if you wish... But remember for every 1/16th oz, you will gain 3" faster sink rate. I think that's the equation... You could fish them texas rigged, if you bend the hook back a little... With the hook, you can choose to run a sinker, and basically would be the same... Just all in the personal preferences!

Home made shakey jig
I am a total noob, but what are these shaky jigs for? I don't understand them, apart from a normal jig... Thanks!

Snag proof frog original.
I don't like that they don't snag the fish in the mouth.... But you can't have everything... lol The new frog by snagproof looks like it might work a little better, as it has trailing legs, rather than the plastic molded legs... It might actually, allow the fish to grab on better... I would like to see that... I am going to be making my own frogs, which will be about half as thick, and allow the fish to bite down... We'll see... I am not sure how I am going to even get it to work, but I got time...

Bass on the beds
Some of us just choose not to fish during the spawn Ontario has chosen not to open the season until after the spawn witch i think is unreasonable it should be a personal choice And there is some good fishing before they spawn. That being said i didnt mean to offend any one and as far as being F.O.S. that very well may be true but i just choose to fish Muskies at that time and we hold no tournaments for 6 weeks to let them spawn in peace. And yes i realize that fish do not have intercourse i was just trying to be funny guess it was not sorry it wont happen again It's all good. I didn't mean to offend, you just sounded like a fish hugger... lol It's all good, muskie sound like fun, none the less! I wish we had there around here, but we got clear lakes, (also the name of our lake here in Lake County, California) and big bass, so it's all good!

Bass on the beds
Agreed. I would rather have a female, than a male, any day! I always know, from the fight, which is which... The male is darting a lot more, and usually doesn't need the drag on my spinning reel set any higher than 5-8. A female, is much more lethargic in the water, but she pulls harder, due to her size! In a day, I caught a female of 4-6, she pulled hard, and about snapped my ultra light pole, (wasn't bass fishing, was pan fishing, just happened that she was hungry for what I had on the menu!) later I caught several males, which all weighed in the low 2lb range, but they darted fast along the water. I find little things that can determine a male from a female also. I don't know if both the male and female have it, but I noticed a couple females were releasing a blood mixture from their reproductive duct just behind their lower fin. That is a good indication that they were female, and that they had just laid eggs. The other fish I had caught, I didn't notice any hole like that, in that region... Could this be an indication that they do have some way of telling, whether or not a fish is male of female?

SOO still think a swimbait cant win a T?
Clear Lake is my home, and you know what? Out of all of the place that I have fished, this is the greatest lake in the U.S. It's clean, clear, and we have so many different fish! Anything from hitch, to blue gill, and crappie, trout, and bass! If I missed a few, it's because those are the only ones I have seen. Catching a trout on this lake, is like winning the lotto though! My 11yr. old brother in law caught one of those last summer, still don't know how, and it was a monster! Lucky kid! Anyhow, Steve Kennedy came out here, and killed the bass, like massacred them! That man knows how to fish, and work this lake! I give him much props for being such a good fisherman. If he, or any of the other guys want to come back, they are more than welcome! I actually appreciated them being here!

Pre Tournament Jitters
I don't so much, get the jitters, but it feels like I am going to be nauscious every time I hit the lake! Pretty common thing for those whom love the sport. I get really anxious to catch a fish, and when I do, I freak out, and get really excited! Eventually, after a few hours on the lake, it goes away.

How does Tournament Fishing Affect a Lake?
I am going to agree to both arguments. One, a tournament is good for revenue, and is going to make a town, or towns around a lake, much more money in the months to come. Then again, with that comes a price! We lose our fishing grounds, and have to move on, and/or park some 1/2 miles from the ramp, just to park! I happen to live in a house, where we have a parking/launching permit at a state park, here in California. It allows us access to the larger, almost always empty, parking lot! It cost some 165 dollars, but seeing as we fish a lot, or go out for recreation, it was worth it! However, I do not mind a little challenge of catching a fish, that is what fishing is all about! I might catch some, I might lose some, either way, it is great to be on the lake, at all! I think the land owners are bupkis, and need to find another place to live, if it bothers them! I mean, if you live next to the lake, expect noise, if not from us, from jet skiers, and other motorboats! I see no point in actually fighting a cause, but rather taking part in it! I am living in the lake area, and would like to use it! If someone wants to complain about me fishing in their area, all they have to do, is ask, and I will leave without argument! I don't hear a lot of complaints from anyone on this lake, as most would rather know if we are catching anything, rather than whining at us for getting too close to their property! People who are afraid that we are there to hurt their docks, or whatever, are usually old people with too much money, or arrogant, and pompous jackasses whom have no lives... If you can't fish, it's not my problem, I am out here no catching anything either! but you know what? I do it anyhow!

Bass on the beds
I totally agree with you! If the egg ends up hatching later on, and it isn't a dud, it will end up getting eaten more times than not! They are an easy pray, as they are much smaller, and not nearly as fast! PETA is BS, they are a contradiction! If you don't eat meat, you get sick, you need the proteins. I mean crap! The fish also helps your mind... Which is why PETA activists are such morons! I bet more than 85% of them, have, or will have eaten a steak in their lives! Contradictory organizations tick me off! They are such hypocrites! If they want to complain about anything, they can complain about animal tested crap, lay off the fisherman! It's a hobby, a sport, something to keep us occupied... Would they rather you spend your time shooting animals, or testing cosmetics on them? Crap! Morons, pure and simple!

Some I've painted recently
You guys are great! I need to get the old airbrush back out, and shoot my top waters... I need a good crankbait blank! One day I will find a quality one!
-
Bass on the beds
PETA hates B.A.S.S.! They think that it's cruel to hook a fish through the lip, just for sport. It's wrong to catch them, then eat them also! I swear, PETA wastes time, and money BSing their opinions! lol

Some I've painted recently
d**n bro, you are really talented! I like those spinners! They almost look like mini bass! I also second the buying of those for a collection. I don't care about the quality, I just collect!

Bass on the beds
The male, is respectively smaller, and usually lives less long than the female. They usually ram each other, and try to kill each other, which ends up in chasing... And the female has a much rounder stomach area, where as the male is relatively stream lined. I have studied them a lot. I used to think that you couldn't tell, either. But there are a lot of differences...

Snag proof frog original.
Yeah, it happens. I am a clutz when removing mistakes that other people made... I would make a bad hitman... lol The GF tossed the thing, it hits the tree, and lands on the other side, on land. Rather than walking over there, and breaking it off, I tried to yank it through the tree.... I wasn't fast enough, and it wrapped around the hook, and branch... DOH! You know how it is... We should start an, "I lost a snagproof lure in a tree!" club! lol

Some I've painted recently
Those are awesome! I like the panfish/brownish bass! I can't wait to airbrush mine now...

Snag proof frog original.
Thanks skillet. You did the same thing with your frog as me then... That is an irritating flaw... I should write them a letter and tell them they lie, it's not snagproof... lol Horrible design. But I would assume that every lure is about the same, in different conditions. I am designing my own plastics for a while, and see if I can't produce me a frog that will be cheaper, and easier for me to use... I think I have the idea set in clay, I just need to make the molds, and pour the plastic, which I don't have yet... Might just melt some old worms down, and use those...

Bass on the beds
I fish an area where I can see the fish clearly, no more than 4 feet down, 3 in some places. I make sure that there are no sun fish around, then I catch. The male bass are normally what I am after. You can see them fighting in the water, but never catch them... Strangest thing. I think this season, I have caught 1 male... And he was 2lbs... I know that females are much larger, but I am not really into removing a female from her bed...
