  1. The bait monkey is having me spend some money this month on some senkos, finesse worms, and a lot of other stuff that "I think, I need"... I wish I could hook that bait monkey, and use him for bait! lol Little guy has me spending so much money lately! 250+ in the hole already! And I haven't been on the lake in almost a month and a half! lol Whatever you do, get yourself quality hooks! Nothing like losing a fish because your hooks are as sharp as a dull butter knife!
  2. If you don't like them, there is always the alternatives... You could look for an eyeglass shop that sells used glasses, and see if they will buy them, but at a fraction of the cost, I must say. Or sell them on ebay for slightly less than you paid. I have seen people take a set of maui jim's for like 165 bucks, plus shipping on ebay! Rediculous, but people will pay the few dollars less, just to save! I myself could used a cheap set of polarized wal-mart glasses, and be fine. To me, as long as they help me see the water better, that's all that matters! And remember, if you lose a set of cheap glasses in the water, you could always buy several more pairs for a lot less than you would one very expensive pair!
  3. What weight was it? I had heard that there were several people complaining of the same thing... I think that it was a problem of heat getting to it when it was shipped, and it caused it to become brittle. Much more so than it should have! Especially at the price they charge for it! Best thing to do, it send it to berkeley, and they will deal with the matter, by either sending you a new spool of line, or refunding your money. I don't know what you would do about the lures, but I am sure they could work something out... It is a damned shame that this kind of thing happens, but it's not all to common with different manufactures! I was having problems with my berkeley vanish line, and they offered to have me send it in, and they would test it, and send me a new spool. I didn't feel like the hassle, but the jesture was more than pleasing! Basically, I was having fraying issues, which could also be caused by heat. Not sure though! Either way, they will right the wrong. In the future, I would suggest you get some spire wire braided, and you will have less backlashing, and lose less lures... I have the monofiliment, and I love it! Best stuff in the world. JMHO. Hope some of that helps you out!
  4. Welcome to the world of the addicting, bass fishing game! Next up, if you are concerned with the hook not going through the worm on a set, maybe try pushing the hook all the way through, up to the barb, and push it back down in until the tip isn't showing. This works best for me! Also, don't be afraid to set the worm up on a drop shot (finesse worms work best, they float sort of) wacky (putting the worm onto a hook with a small o-ring, or hooking it in the direct center, when folded) or even Carolina rigging it (putting the hook through the frontal portion, or nose of the worm, with a slip sinker, or bullet sinker). These ways all work great, but from what I have heard on the pro circuit, they are running worms wacky lately... Seems to cause more strikes with the erratic motions, and twirls. Just make sure you use a swivel. The swivel will keep your line from twisting! Hope some of this is informative to you!
  5. If I were you, I would get myself a huddleston swimbait! Well worth the money, as they are doing wonders for kennedy! He tore up our lake on them, and from what I understand, is killing the several other stops so far! That guy is a really great fisherman! He really knows what to do...
  6. White or tan on the bottom, and olive green on top, with black spots... It works best! Looks most natural to a fish..
  7. I spent about an hour in the backyard last night, adjusting and trying out different techniques. I am running 17lb monofiliment, and I am doing really great with the casting. I throw it out, and it slowly hits the groud, about the same time I catch the reel. I don't seem to be getting much backlash at all. It seems such a hassle to have to adjust it every single time I change lures... I might as well get a bunch of 1/4oz lures! lol Jk. I bought this so that I could throw out some swimbaits, and other larger baits. Thanks for the info guys!
  8. Heddon Torpedo in frog. I like them because I have a location that I can get a hold of them for 2 bucks and change!
  9. All I have to say, is that you have way too much time on your hands bro... Way too much! Maybe if you just applied casting, reeling and catching fish, you wouldn't need math! C+R+CF=
  10. Thanks. Good info. I also cast all my poles side arm because of a shoulder injury when I was younger. I have a 1/4oz jig on the pole now, and I have been doing the, "sit on the couch and watch t.v. while trying to stop the jig before it hits the floor!" method. I have become very accurate with that! I catch it nearly the same place with my thumb. It's going to take a lot of practice, but I am more than up for the challenge!
  11. To me, value is in a name. I buy Abu Garcia Cardinal reels, one because they are cheaper, and two because they are easily obtained anywhere! I have one that is about 10 years old, I would say, and it still works like new. You just have to maintain a reel, keep it oiled and clean it after every single use, and make sure you replace things that wear out. I think new, my reel was 25 bucks on sale at a wal-mart. The thing that caught my eye, was the adjusting knob on the bottom of the reel! I think it is an MX series Cardinal also! Worth every penny I spent on it.
  12. Maybe try ebay. I have seen those recently, and they went for like 2 bucks and change... They look good, why would they have stopped making them? Probably because they had little success on the market.
  13. What are your personal, ways of casting a bait casting reel? I just recently bought an Abu Garcia 5600cl Rocket, and I have been looking for other people's opinions on casting methods. Is there a right, or wrong way to cast these reels? I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it looked, but I am now finding out, that I was really wrong! lol Thanks for any help you can give me, to lighten the path to casting this reel!
  14. Maybe try heating the area you want to bend, just slightly, with some kind of lighter, or even a small propane torch... When I spend time bending any wire, I make sure to heat it, it gives it a somewhat gummy feeling to it, and it bends so nicely!
  15. Look under the buzzbaits. They are a buzzbait, so they sit under that category.
  16. I need to get some of these, they look pretty cool, and they are cheap, which is all the better! Much more money for terminal tackle!
  17. Yeah. They tend to make a hard splash it seems, no matter how you toss them! I think I understand them, a bit better than before. I just have to figure out how to use them... lol And don't let the price fool ya, you could change out the skirt if you really wanted, for about the same price.... Or even add to it, if you can get the material in bulk... They have really dense skirts, so I think that they are perfect! I want to add some more colored strands, and make my own combos!
  18. Thanks for that info, I will definitely try that!
  19. These are my first spinner/buzz baits. I have read so many different techniques, that I have become confused! lol I would really love some tips! Here are a couple pictures... I was also not aware of them producing these. The best thing is, they are dirt cheap! I think I paid like 1.80 with tax, each. I want to get more, as they feel really nice, not flimsy, and the skirt is pretty nice. The hooks seem satisfactory to the untrained eye... It looks as nice as the strike kings I was going to buy, but these seemed a better choice, since I am a noob with spinner/buzz baits... Just found this site also... Shows the different colors that this site sells... http://www.luresonline.com/shopping/spinnerbaits.html I was going to buy a black, white/black, and firetiger when I bought these two also... I think they also have them in red, orange... Don't quote me on that though! They run smooth though... And the skirt is pretty thick and dense for the price!
  20. Yeah. I personally like the bag because it's relatively smaller than most bags, making it a pleasure to store anywhere on a boat. And, at the price I paid for it, I could always get another, later on! Wal-Mart has some of the most awesome prices on things like this, it makes it hard not to buy one, or two of anything! I just need to spend another 50 bucks, and get myself a little more tackle to go with it! Maybe then I will be fully ready to hit the lake, full throttle! I need to re-stock my worms, and jig sleeves, and get a few more hard baits in more colors... But otherwise, I am d**n near ready to land me a hog! 4.6lbs is my personal best, my goal is at least an 8lb by the end of the summer. Anything D.D. in my lifetime!
  21. Maybe ya'll need to move to some different locations, if you are catching more pickerel than bass! lol I haven't ever had a pickerel, but I would like to catch one of them, one day. Along with several other species of fish... Walleye being one of them!
  22. No one has any comments, or suggestions on how to fish these?
  23. Don't laugh, this is what I have right now, and I do fine with it! Okeechobee bag Just a top view, 4 boxes, 2 spools of the line I use. The worms I use. Anything from zoom, up to senkos in there, also a lot of finesse! The spools of line, that I ALWAYS carry. Trout/Bass lures, I have yet to catch a fish on any of them, just bought them for a trout derby this last weekend! Hard lures, top, diving, prop bait, spinner, and buzz baits. I always keep a bobber for when I want to float a worm! My jig box. I keep all sorts of jigs, anything from 1/32 oz, up to 1/4oz. Smaller bobbers for crappie, warranties, pens for marking scores... This is what I have for tools, leatherman style pliers, nail clippers, and a knife. I keep my crawfish in here, and some little thumping tails. I need to restock as you can see... I ran out of lime green/metallic flake 2" thumpers... These are my poles that I have put together in the last few months, or years... My ultra light was bought for my birthday, and the orange ambassadeur was bought just last week. Shakespeare poles on the abu garcias, and a berkeley cherrywood on the shakespeare reel. I am slowly building up what I need to fish, just on a really low budget, and time constraints also effect my purchasing time...
  24. I bought a chartreuse and white spinner, and a chartreuse buzz bait the other day. Does anyone fish these baits, and what is your favorite technique? I was thinking about buying more, as they are a great price! Thanks for any help you can give, in advance!
  25. I don't know of the availability in my area, but I have heard that many anglers prefer the motor oil color, in many conditions! I just bought a spinner, and buzzer by culprit, and they seem really good! I have only just tossed out the spinner this afternoon, but I was just messing around. It works very well!
