  1. I was curious about this too. I have heard that any lure is best in choppy water, under cloudy conditions. The murky water might want a chartreuse colored spinner? Clear waters white. I think I have heard that right?

Hahaha Yeah, that might be hard, I bet they are going to be bass catchers right out, the first time! Very nice looking baits!
  3. Texan is right. Throw that puppy close as you can to the obstruction! If you are on a boat, the worst that can happen, is you have to go up next to a tree, and retrieve it!
  4. I use my Pop-R whenever... I usually use it about 2 hours before sunset, by then, the area I fish is nice and shady. It doesn't have to be dark to use it, you just need proper shade for the fish to be active! Usually early morning, just before, and slightly after sunrise are good times also! The fish are heavily active in their feeding at that time. Frogs, and poppers are really productive at those times.
  5. Crap bro, I only have a 5 box bag, and it's still got empty space... If I had 5 boxes in it, it would have 2 empty boxes itself... I am just beginning though, so I am still a noob. I just use the little bit of plastics, and lures that I have, and I am still catching fish... Maybe you are doing something wrong? lol JK. Looks like a lunker though!
  6. Bass won't normally become too active until the water is in the mid 60's. Around 64 degrees to be exact. You can try to hit them with a drop shot rig, and wiggle that in front of them for a little... That is the only thing that we could get the fish to hit, with the water that cool 3 weeks to 4 weeks ago... I did get a bunch of hits off my Berkeley Beast also... It all depends on the fish in your area... They all react different, in different regions. The water temperatures i stated above, are what it says in my books... Or information that I heard for other fisherman, in different areas of the U.S. Whatever you do, just have fun! It would be a very good time to experiment with different set ups!
  7. It is very classic. I figured that you fellas would get an absolute kick out of that!
  8. d**n natural, you make my "box" look like a child's toy chest! *tears* It's absolutely the largest collection of lures, that I myself, have ever seen! You really love the sport huh? Keep on fishing bro! Very nice!
  9. I love the claim that you can paint your own or get someone to paint your baits so they look just as good without it costing as much as the high end stuff. You are either A) insane, full of it or C) you know something or someone i dont. Yes, I do know someone you don't... Myself! I also know that I am not insane, nor that I am full of it. I also know several people whom can produce paint jobs that are phenomenal compared to mine, but mine are good. You can do it, you just have to understand what a real fish looks like, which is why you look at the pictures... I know, that most companies cannot produce a perfect fish either, and I don't claim that. I just said that you can have them painted just as good, for a lot less! I have a friend who usually paints flames on cars, and skulls. But I know for a fact, given the chance, that he could produce a fish with no problems... I will have him air one up on paper for me. Then I will show you!
  10. Very nice job! I couldn't have done it any better myself! Hope it performs well for years to come!
  11. That is a very valid point tex! Glad someone finally said that! It seems that companies are taking advantage of us, so that they can produce colors, that are looked into by their R&D... What the hell?! Why do we spend the extra money for something, that we can get, and paint ourselves, and spend a fraction of that cost?! It's so pointless to me. I can see a bass boat being different, as some are inferior to others, but in tackle, it makes no sense... We are just paying for colors... If you know someone whom can airbrush from pictures, have them paint your cheaper rapala lure... It's the same thing!
  12. Inferiority is only half of it, when it comes to buying good lures. Yes I have some cheap lures, and yes, they catch fish very well. But if you are willing to spend 5 times the money, on something that you can tweak to meet really close, to the same standards, wouldn't you? I have a couple cheap, really cheap, lures that I have tweaked. Some just with hooks, and landed fish, or some that I had to slightly bend the eyelets to make it swim better. Sometimes both. Still, I find that they work as well as my rapala, and LC baits... I can't see spending money, that someone told me to spend on a lure, and not catch any fish... It's all in the beholder's eye! Driving by anglers that fish near the shore, I stopped and asked what they were using. You know what they said? "Some cheap little lure I bought last night at Wal-mart." They showed me what they had, and it was nothing more than a renegade rattle... I asked how many, and what size fish they caught, and both of them said that they had a couple decent lunkers, in the 8lb range. One of the guys pulled out a monster 10.5lb bass out of their tank! My jaw dropped! Seriously, it's not the price of the lure that catches the fish, it's how well you know how to make it move in the water!
  13. Depending on the lure being used, you want to do different knots. When using a jig, I found that using a homer knot works best. Tying on hard baits, top water, divers, etc. I like to use a double clinch knot... Don't ask why because I can't tell you. Just something that I have always done! If you learn these two knots well, you can tie them in the dark, or very little light, at least. I will fish at night, mostly jigs, and top water, but there is always that chance that I will snag something and have to tie the knot in the dark! lol This is when it gets frustrating, and may take you several minutes to re-tie something!
  14. I don't know, it seems that a visor, and a good pair of sun glasses does it for me... Then again, many of you older gentlemen, with fading fields, might want the larger brim hats... I am getting a reseeding hairline myself, at 24 no less... I just don't think that it would be all that easy to fish with something that large on my head?
  15. I only tie one on 30mins-1 hour before dark, then I switch to top waters, and divers... I hate tying in the dark, on a boat! lol
  16. Ok, looking at all of these nice rooms/garage sections of your houses, make me want to show what I use... Maybe later this afternoon I will have space on the camera disk... lol The only thing I have that is absolutely full!
  17. Yeah, no kidding, huh? I love this reel, I just can't wait to see it in action! Weekend after this... Got a trout derby this weekend... WOOT!
  18. I don't care what other people are gonna say, I think my little Abu Garcia 6500 is good enough. Only 75 out the door at wal-mart... It looks great, and no backlash! I opted for the special edition orange! I don't fish tournaments, so what's the point of having a 200+ dollar reel?!
  19. I live up here in Lake County, California. I am very proud of some of the bass here, though I haven't seen a lot of bass over 8lbs... It's pretty rare! And I think the record bass is 15.13lbs or something close to. I chase the double digits with a dream, but not really being in the game long, has caused me to research, hours, and hours of information! If I ever catch a fish over 9 lbs, I am going to be the happiest guy in the world! My personal best is like 4.6 lbs! So anything is an improvement. I am an all around fisherman, I can fish for just about anything, with ease... I fish for crappie, blue gill, bass, trout... I don't really care what is on the end of my line, as long as it wants to fight me for it! In fact, I have a trout derby, locally, this up coming weekend! It's not going to be huge or anything, but first place is $150 dollars... I think I can do that!
  20. That link doesn't work... lol I don't know if it was sarcastic or not, but it's not working... JTLYK!
  21. It's really sad, when someone has to snoop so low, to basically steal from another person, destroy their credit, or steal from a business owner. It's ridiculous! People like that, really, really have no conscience, and should be persecuted into slavery camps... You can't do the time, don't do the crime! Maybe it would help them gain a little respect for others, and make them grow a conscience! I am one of those people that would take back money, into a store, where I was given the wrong change, (usually too much back) and right what went wrong... I have several times because sometimes numbers are punched, that shouldn't have been, or someone has already had a long/bad/hard day... Stealing is wrong, and it's sad that not more people think about it...
  22. Yeah, I prefer a shallow, or mid runner myself. Our lake isn't all that deep, I think 15-25 feet at the most, in the middle... Natural lakes are weird sometimes! haha
  23. Those look really good, actually... They don't have to be really fancy to catch fish... lol It's really all in the movement, or if they are pre/post spawners, they will hit anything you want to throw... It all depends on what the fish are looking at! I personally don't think a fish cares what it's food looks like, as long as it's an easy meal!
  24. Not jigs, jig HEADS. I'm not talking about a jig with a skirt and weed guard. I'm talking about just the lead head and hook like you'd rig a grub or something on. That's what I mean... I got like 6 different jig heads at wal-mart, all of which were renegade... I have the ones with the bloodline red hooks, and I got the original hooks... They all seem really sharp, and were really a good price... I use them mainly for crappie, and smaller fish, but I have my Luck-E-Strike jigs in 1/4 oz for the larger fish... They happen to have Gamakatsu hooks, and were roughly the same price, for better quality hooks... I agree that the quality of the renegade jigs could be better, but they aren't bad for what they are intended for... If you set the hook properly, you shouldn't have to worry about which jigs you use... Set it hard, and reel it in! JMHO, and this is the end of my $.02.
  25. Wait... I haven't had any issues with the renegade jigs... I have had them for quite a while, and none of them have rusted?! Maybe it's just me, and my care to close my box when I fish... Even the ones I have used are still like new... I basically use the bloodline renegade jigs, but not a one has rusted... I have zerust boxes by flambeau, and the supposedly let off a gas when you close the lid, that seals out the moisture... I don't know if I believe that, but not one rusty hook!
