Sometimes taking a break is a good thing
yeah i will know that feeling soon...kinda...my new job will have me working later and i wont get home till about 6pm...by the time i get home, get my stuff, drive to the fishin spot...it would be dark...so my fishing will be limited to weekends starting this onday....but on the plus side, i have a better job, more money, overtime, work and not sitting on my duff all day, and two weeks paid vacation after one year!!! love that jig...2 more this morning..
got out again tonight...caught a bunch on a jig...eakins, green pumpkin w/green flash, gene larew 4"salt craw trailer...most wer just under a pound...but i did catch a couple over one pound...my buddy didnt catch any he could "weight in"...so now i lead with 5 fish at 8lb even and he has 2 fish at 2.9lbs....the "tourney" ends tomorrow...so hopefully i can knock a few of the smaller ones off...here is a pic of the biggest one tonight i also lost two that would have went over two pounds but for some reason, after fighting them all the way up to shore, the hook just magically popped out...oh well Cliff

work boots
i was wondering if any of you guys have experience with cabelas boots this pair in particular http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0020788811925a&navCount=1&podId=0020788811925&parentId=cat601939&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20564-cat601939&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601939&hasJS=true they got great reviews on that site but i trust the community here, so thought i would ask...my new job requires steel toes, i got my old ones out and have been wearing them for a week or so...they seem to be bother my feet a bit...so i may have to get new ones in the future...any help is much appreciated Cliff

1 All-Around or More...
i have 5 rod/reel combos....but for about the last month and a half i havent used any except for my 6' MH...i fish jigs, topwater, cranks, t-rigs and anything else i have with it...i have caught fish on all the different baits mentioned....the main reason for this is that i fish from the bank and got tired of carting around several rods...and actually i have enjoyed this much more....i like the simplicity of it and am in the process of getting a custom rod in the same length and action because i have enjoyed it so much, and i have been catching better quality fish(not that that is due to the rod)....so i plan to sell my other reels and just make my new custom rod my "do it all" rod...but this is just my preference and if i had a boat i would probebly keep using all ym combos Cliff

Cowboy Football
yeah, dallas rules!! my brother and i were gonna try to go to a game(he wins tickets regularly from his job) but after he saw my shark fishing pics he decided to wait and come down next summer to do that...he took my dad to the dallas vs giants game last year...my dad is a hardocre ginats fan and me and my brother are dallas fans...dallas won...i kinda felt bad...my dad finally goes to see the giants play and they lost...but he had a blast either way its kinda nice to see TO not acting like an idiot as well

program for fishing reports?
i use notepad....i just write the date, weather which consists of hot or cooler....lol...then i write what i caught and what i caught it on, and where in the particular body of water example 9/25 Axtell ponds...HOT...caught one dink, one was 1.3 lbs and my new PB...4.1lbs all on 10" red shad power worm in the deep part of the small tank. "HOT" in capitals means it was really hot...lowercase "hot" means it wasnt too bad...lol...pretty simple i guess but i understand it...now i can look back next season and see what i caught and where. That one moment,...you knew
i remember i was very young...maybe 9 or 10...my dad took me down to the river behind the soccer field...i dont remember what i was using...i think a yellow mister twister.....i was just reeling it in and wack! i reeled it in and it was a small northern about a foot long or so.....i was so happy and excited....we didnt have a camera and i HAD to show my mom....so dad put it on a stringer and i held it out the truck window for all to see as we drove through town to go back home...i can remember just holding that fish and looking for someone to see it as we drove along.....good times. i always loved fishing but didnt get really serious about it until i was in high school and my parents bought a place on cayuga lake.....dad bought me a new rod/reel that year and then i caught my first smallie....that is the moment i got really serious about fishing.
