  1. i have an abu 5600C3 and a low profile casting reel...i find it much easier to cast sidearm rather than overhead....i am much more accurate this way and i get much more distance....especially with lighter lures....i cast 1/4 oz baits with no problems or distance loss Cliff
  2. took my nephews out last weekendd...it was their first time fishing...the 4 yr old wouldnd hold the fish for a pic...but the 3 yr old was all over it....it was alot fo fun..gonna take em again this weekend
  3. cought these two sunday night..man these guys fight hard!...they were about 4lb each Cliff
  4. abu garcia cardinal C101... 33 bucks
  5. i have an abu garcia 5501C3(about 70 bucks..cant remember)...love that thing...and just bought a pinnacle solene(50 bucks) recently....and so far it is working great
  6. might i ask where you found those cork grips? Cliff
  7. walleye! ;D
  8. it is here in texas at the texas wildlife website....i always type in the search bar.."fishing lake waco" and it brings the wildlife site right on top...maybe give that a try Cliff
  9. i have about that amount...but i am not catching fish..skunked again tonight
  10. wow some of you guys sure do have ALOT of stuff!!...here is mine... the second one is a small worm binder witch has my soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and terminal tackle in it....enjoy! Cliff
  11. thanks for the input guys, i actually have one of each...an ambassador and a pinnacle....i really dont like the pinnacle as much as the abu.....i noticed on some other abu models there is a thumbar...i think that would be great...mine has the little button on the side....anyway...thanks for the thoughts! Cliff
  12. i was just wondering what your thoughts were about round body baitcasters vs low profile? does one have an advantage over the other? or is it just personel preference? does one excel at a specific technique over the other? Thanks Cliff
  13. i guess if i was in a tournament and big money was on the line or somethin..i can maybe see spending the extra money for that...but for me, i just want to fish!! i have a very small amount of tackle...like 6 cranks...2 spinnerbaits...and a handful of different plastics and the terminal tackle to rig them..thats it....if i can be on the water and cast my stuff, i am happy Cliff
  14. well other than the one dink on the spinnerbait...i have only had bites on the weightless senko....and it was over 30mph winds yesterday....i have tried cranks..C-rig diff plastics...t-rig diff plastics....i have only cought 3 bass in the last 2 weeks of fishing about everyday...total weight...about 2 lbs...lol....but i am having fun learning how to catch LMB....same deal when i first moved to MN...had never cought or fished for walleye....5 years later i could catch a walleye on just about any given day....so i am not getting frusterated cuz i know it just takes time...and i am learning tons from this site...thanks! Cliff
  15. so i was out fishing this afternoon and there were tons of shad flipping on the water....i mean alot of them too...there really wasnt any fish attacking them on top...i maybe saw 1 or 2 come up after a shad...i was using a weightless senko...i had two good hard strikes but no takers....my first thought was to try a original floater rapala...a lure which i dont have...yet....anyway so i kept throwing the senko....nothing....i saw a bassboat with a couple guys fishing the shoreline about 100 feet from me...they were catchin em....i couldt see real well but it look like they were throwin white spinnerbait....so i went to the car, grabed my other rod...white spinnerbait....about the third cast i cought a dink..about 8-10 inches....nothing else the rest of the time i was there....my question is...what would you have done? water is murky, 15-20 mph N wind....brush, treees within casting distance.....thanks! Cliff
  16. i go striper fishing here in TX, we use a homemade "slab" it is about 2 inches long poured of pure lead with a small treble hook...they are shaped like a fish(oval)...they are heavy...cast it out...let it sink....lift your rod as high as you can(getting a hook set at the very top of your lift is a pain) let it fall on a tight line....thats it...works on whites too...you get wicked line twist as well...and if the lead becomes "dull" looking, scratch it up with a knife or other metal object Cliff
  17. the one and only muskie i cought while living in MN was 36.5 inches long....i cought it while reeling in a 10 inch walleye...i was using a light set up with 6lb test...took me about 20-30 minutes to land it...when i did my 1/8 oz jig head was actually hooked in the corner of the muskies mouth...the walleye was all mangled and dangling up my line...man that was fun! really crappy picture but you get the idea Cliff
  18. well i have to say, i used those renegade jig heads almost exclusively for walleye fishing in minnesota and zero rust issues with them...they are cheap and they cought tons of walleyes for me...just my experience Cliff
  19. ok...lol...i will take your word for it..but i think iw ill stick to my 33 dollar abu garcias from walmart! Cliff
