  1. On a jackhammer, would I put a Zako on the back to match the shape and profile of a bluegill, or would I use something more slender, like a spunk shad with a wider kick and more erratic action? Will bass in stained water see the bigger profile of the Zako, or the erratic wide kick of a Spunk Shad? How do I know when to mix and match these trailers?
  2. There is no light wire hook here, the 5/0 VMC 30 degree hook is sharp enough to stick fish with little effort, but has all the strength of a heavy wire flipping hook. Lots of descriptions for the different Dirty Jigs on TW say VMC hooks.
  3. Aren't Dirty Jigs hooks VMC? The No-Jack stuff Is gamakatsu, but I dont know if the hooks will be too thick for a MH rod.
  4. Anyone tried this squarebill? Tacticalbassin reccomended it and it's not very often they mention Rapala. It's usually R2sea and Megabass for them.
  5. This is new information to me, I have never used anything but fat impacts and thought they were the standard. I am now going to have to end up spending 30 dollars on all of this stuff instead of the 7 I would need to pay for fat impacts. Thanks to everyone for answering my question.
  6. That's what I was thinking. I'll buy some fat impacts and use the easy shiner on swimbait jigheads.
  7. I ran out of Fat Impacts and need a good trailer for my Divine 1/4 oz Swim Jig. I am afraid the easy shiner may not kick enough to make the jig roll. Could I still use it or should I buy some Fat Impacts? I was also wondering if the less kick from the Easy Shiner would be more attractive to lethargic bass.
  8. Thank you all for responding. I will go with the SV-3 in gill and the Pulsator Metal Flake in Best Color Ever.
  9. When I catch bowfin, I'm more worried about my fingers than the lure. But I don't usually catch toothy predators, other than the occasional pickerel.
  10. Is the SV-3 something I would fish with a trailer hook, the long strands look like they would get short strikes? Also, is the Pulsator more of a mid-sized profile, conpared to the more finesse Megabass?
  11. Well Nichols looks good except for the trailer keeper issue. What could be a good color for slightly stained but still decent visibility?
  12. Well now I have even more things to consider. My main issue with the Nichols is the lack of a trailer keeper, or I would have bought it a while back. I like to put Spunk Shads, and recently, a Zako on the back of my spinnerbait. I like how I won't have to put a trailer on the SV-3. For some reason in the reservoir I fish, perch patterns outfish white and chartreuse. Z-man and R2Sea also look great.
  13. 10+. But components, durability and action matter more for me.
  14. Bass were really keying in on double willow aspinnerbaits a few years ago, but I think others have caught on it. I can see other guys using spinnerbaits all the time now. The quality and number of fish went down on spinnerbaits last year last year. I want something compact that can take it up a notch, but won't bend and break easily. I'm looking at the SV-3, Covert series, River2Sea Bling, and Nichols Pulsator. Any suggestions?
  15. Nevermind I see this topic was already mentioned.
  16. Which one would best fill the niche between a spook and an SB-105? I want something a little less aggressive than a showerblows, but with more drawing power than a spook. When I saw the Giant Dog X, I thought to myself, "Wow, 18 dollars for a Megabass lure, that's pretty cheap!" lol
  17. Foul hooked the stern angler in the ear.
  18. I own one baby bull gill in the bluegill color. It is a dink magnet everywhere I fish. I've never seen any but I will try it.
  19. I believe I am a little too far north for lizards and have fished at night on the pond. I will try the power worm.
  20. There is a large pond near my house that is stocked with largemouth. It has a few two and three pounders, and two I caught over 4 lbs. But there is one bass I caught two years ago there that measured a whopping 5 lbs 6 oz. My friend sent me a picture of a big bass he caught and it looked to be the same size and had the same pattern along the lateral line. I saw one bass that was significantly larger than the rest on a bed, too, but she would not bite anything I threw at her. I think I see her jumping out of the water too but I can't be sure. If I caught her now it would break my PB. The pond is also super pressured and I think she has gotten wise. I tried flukes, ned rigs, underspins, poppers, jigs, spooks, upsizing, downsizing, and everything else but she won't bite. Has this ever happened to you and how can I get this bass to bite?
  21. Perch seems to be the main forage, but anything Perch seems to be the main forage, but the bass will quickly snap up any sunnies they see. I will give the tremors a look.
  22. Sounds cool, do I need to do a snap upgrade?
  23. So the consensus for the Showerblows seems to be bone or Skeleton Chartreuse. For the jackhammer I will probably stick with Brett's Bluegill but will look at the other colors suggested. Have natural gill or baby bass produced for you on the SB, I may buy one SB for clear and one for dirty water. Also, do I need to replace the hooks with Gammys or are they fine.
  24. I really don't have any dirty water. There is a very clear reservoir in my backyard that sees no pressure because it is owned by Veolia. I have one loon plopper 110 that doesn't see much time on the water but I will try it.
  25. Thank you for the popper information, I was wondering when to fish which one but read the Splash It was just a blemished yellow magic repainted. I am also getting three free Rico blems from my TW order and want to see how those do. I don't want to go too far off topic, but do you know when to fish the Rico over the other two?
