shimano 22 slx dc xt
Knock on wood but I still haven't heard from customs. I'm very impressed with the reel especially in the wind. I tested it against my Curado MGL 150 and it was night and day. Throwing a weightless Texas rigged 4" senko in windy conditions I could get 90' without a hint of backlash. The Curado was prone to backlashing and distance suffered. I was throwing it on a newly purchased Cashion Element Z2 6'10" ML rod. For only $129 I was very impressed with how beautifully it casted, even with 3/8 oz spinnerbaits. I liked the DC option so much, I went ahead and bought a Scorpion DC from Digitaka since that seems to be hassle free. Should come this week I hope.

Off the tariff subject.... I plan on using this for light wind resistant crank baits like Rapala DT 4's and 6's. What rod brand and action would you guys recommend.

Oh joy! Why don't they just hit us up front? Who is the bill from, US Customs or FedEx? This just posted. This guy has some very interesting videos.

shimano 22 slx dc xt
I just bought and received it from Japan Lure Shop. The reel was $180 with $20 shipping, total. It got here in 4 days. Can't beat that with a stick! I wish I knew about this web site before this, I could have saved a ton of money. I paid $350 for a Daiwa Zillion SV TW on Tackle Warehouse before they went to $400. You can get it now on Japan Lure for $220 + $20 shipping. Looks like the tariff hysteria is BS. The shipping company was FedEx

Does anyone have one? I'd be interested in your critique on it. I don't own a DC reel but have some Shimano Curado 150 mgl M's , Diawa Zillion's and Tatula SV TW 150's. I'm not really interested in throwing extremely light BFS lures but more for smaller crank baits when it's windy. Watching numerous Youtube videos, it gets very high ratings for being as good the more expensive DC's. It's only $200 from Japan Lure Shop. I don't know if it gets hit with a tariff.

The Zillion is my go to reel. I bought a Diawa Coastal SV-TW just for the paint job but it's no slouch. I'm very happy with it.

Getting ready to get some new rods need some good advice!
I have an Expride spinning rod and was very disappointed. You can here the line (8lb fluoro) going through the guides and the casting distance isn't great. I have Loomis, St. Croix's, Okuma's Fenwicks and Ark rods and none of them do that. Weird

New Bottom Contact Rod
I recently bought the new spinning St. Croix Legend X2 7'3" MLXF and 7'1" MHXF casting rods. They are the most sensitive rods I ever used. I don't have any Megabass rods but have a Loomis NRX+ 812S. The Loomis is good but the St. Croix's are definitely crisper. Plus their warranty can't be beat. With the Japanese rods you have to physically ship the rod back and you are at their mercy. Most likely SOL.

Shimano spinning reels with Infinity loop
Does anyone have a high end Shimano spinning reel that features this? I'm curious if it actually significantly increases casting distance or is just a bunch of hype? It sounds good in theory but might be just another marketing ploy.

St. Croix Legend X2
Being the tackle junkie I am, I broke down and bought the spinning 7'3" MLXF rod. Throwing a 1/8 oz ned rig I compared it to my 6'10" NRX+ MLXF rod. Though totally subjective, I felt the SC was a bit more sensitive in that it felt crisper. Will it help me catch more fish? Probably not. As far as the handle, I don't know what the fuss is about. It felt fine to me. As far as the rougher cork, I felt it gave me a better grip.

If you have $2,000 burning a hole in your pocket.......
i would use it for lake, bass fishing from shore but might be too far to effectively set a hook.

Very interesting but way too expensive.

St. Croix Legend X2
Tackle Warehouse is always free for purchases over $50 I just broke a Victory rod and for $60 they replaced it, no questions asked

St. Croix Legend X2
Has anyone here used it on the water yet? Curious as to sensitivity vs the NRX Plus. I'm tempted to let the moths out of my wallet.

Sinking braided line
What knot do you use to attach the leader? I had been using a double uni knot but it often breaks.

Sinking braided line
Has anyone tried it? Pro or con. I saw one video where the guy was using Berkley's brand and stopped using it due to constant jumping off the spool causing wind knots.

Does Yamamoto's floating plastic react with regular plastic lures?
I just bought some. Hope they stand up tp Z man plastics which I'll pre-rig and have ready to go. I've experimented before and Z man colors don't bleed into one another. So far the Yamamoto floating plastics haven't reacted at all to the regular senkos

Does Yamamoto's floating plastic react with regular plastic lures?
I put a Yamamoto floating craw under a regular senko and put a 2 lb weight on it. Curious to see how it looks after a few weeks

Does Yamamoto's floating plastic react with regular plastic lures?
Just wondering if you can store Yamamoto's floating plastics in a Plano box or with other regular old school soft plastics? I know some plastics will melt with both over time and you need to keep them separate,

Newbie Fishing gear and fishing line question
This is heresy ito the majority of anglers today but I stopped using braid awhile ago. Pros: you can get a little more distance .Sensitivity when line is tight. Cons: Wasting time tying on a new leader after you get snagged. It sails away when you cast on windy day, The wind carries it away resting on the water. You can still get wind knots on a spinning reel. I use mono for top water , flouro for everything else. I don't think I'm sacrificing much in sensitivity. Check out this video about flouro's sensitivity on a slack line. I can feel light takes when a bait is falling.

What reel should I pair with my 7ft St. Croix Legend Elite panfish rod?
I'm only a year late to seeing this thread. I bought the 7' L a few months ago. I think it casts better than any UL that I have. I'll pay bigger bucks for quality rods but as far as reels they are just line holders though a good drag is mandatory. I refuse to pay $250 for a Vanford when for $109 I can buy 2 Diawa Fuego 2500's that are smooth as silk both in drag and cranking. Even the the lesser priced Diawas are close.

Oh geez! I didn't really need another bait caster but when I saw this Daiwa Coastal I just had to get it. I didn't know it existed. I have a few Tatulas and a Zillion already. My wife saw this and I had to get her one as well. Lord, stop me before I buy again!
