How did I miss the topwater bite?
Try burning and dead sticking frogs and try plastics weightless buzzed over them. I like the Magnum speed craw.

Finally, this monkey is off of my back!
Nice fish and fun story! I've got some Uncle Josh's pork frogs to throw this winter and I'm excited now!

Only three techniques
'topwater' 'moving baits' 'bottom contact's That bout covers it. π₯Ήππ€πΌπ€πΌπ€πΌ Okay seriously - how about just two πππΌ Frog T Rig I dunno why but that's my confidence - I can make it work most of the time with one of these 2 guys. In the warmer months I'd throw a spinnerbait on that list and in colder months I'd throw a lipless on that list if I HAD to pick a moving bait. 99% of bass fishing is putting a lure where they live and getting them to commit to biting it and it seems like big bass all agree that these two lures are pretty irresistible.

Manns Tiny 1- Minus lures?
I don't know. It looks like you can order them. I assumed it would work lol I guess they should probably take the website down!

Spunkshad
They work great anyway you could possibly rig a plastic. As with any plastic they reward experimentation and you may have to play around a bit to find a way that you can fish them that is sneaky / effective. Nose, hooked and weightless they would dance really nicely. They make great jig trailers on any type of jig you can imagine. I'm sure that if you threw it on the back of a t rig with an appropriate Hook you could catch a lot of fish flipping it. Don't see why it wouldn't work really well on a Carolina rig or a drop shot. Sky's the limit with little Shad shaped things you know? π

Bass
I agree that the big bass are probably in their special spots doing their things most of the time and probably roam around a lil more in search of food very early and later in the day and at night.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Had a fun week! Caught a couple buzzing a speed craw at sunset: Went out on the boat and had an awesome day with a buzzbait kicker: Couple on the frog: Another smaller one on the buzzbait! A big worm fish: Visited the coast and had a rough time hitting on redfish but we did find a pond loaded with dinks and we caught over 30 in an hour. I caught half of them and caught them all on the scum frog bass rat! Meagan got her first Buzzbait bass! Last night we hit the pond and I nailed a nice one on the frog; And a smaller one in the AM Gonna be 97 today: hoping I can get out and get a bite at some point.

Balance
I'm 37 but bass fishing makes me feel 12 again π As for balance. I've fallen in a couple times. Sucks when it's cold. Good thing I'm a great swimmer.

Favorite Jigs Around Docks ?
My favorite trailer for skipping docks is a swimbait! Most jig weights skip fine it's more the head shape and trailer and thinner skirt + technique.

Moving baits for shallow water with grass?
I mentioned him mentioning it πππΌ I don't follow instructions well and this is supposed to be fun! It's *obvious* that he should *try* one π

Moving baits for shallow water with grass?
Sounds froggy. I'd be froggin. (I know it's a topwater but...that's because you're fishing a spot where you should try a top water). Could try weightless plastics buzzed over the holes.

Panfish heavy lake
Swim Jig/Swim Bait/Jointed swimbait/glide bait/wake bait/frog/popper/t rig beaver bait. Dip stuff in chartreuse.

Stinkiest Soft Plastic You Use?
Chompers Garlic and Max Scent are both pretty vile. Don't spill your spike it or JJs magic - good way to ruin things permanently.

It's my most productive color in the big bite baits trick stick!!! Also a fan of the 6th sense version of this color.

Hard Summer Bite & Bass's Higher Metabolism Theory Confusion
I think the point is you gotta go look and see where they're at with out a ton of expectations. They might be in the shade on a hot sunny day. They might be on a flat in the blazing sun in 1 foot of water. They don't really follow rules unfortunately.

Hard Summer Bite & Bass's Higher Metabolism Theory Confusion
I went to the pond today : 95Β° and gentle wind. All the big bass were pushing bait on the sunny flat banks where there was less wind and were very much unphased by the heat or sunlight. No cover. Not even much structure. They just chose the hot sunny bank for their feeding and corralling. Dinks seemed far more interested in shade on the whole as far as I could tell.

Too much stuff!!!
Just keep the stuff you enjoy and get rid of the rest if it's collecting dust. You'll find new stuff to try someday if you need to.

6 Reasons Why June Is The Best Month for Bass Fishing
July and August are much better for me. June is basically the post spawn funk for the majority of the fish that were with the bedding program all spring + lure fatigue sets in bigly in NC.

Riddle Me This Batman
Same. I just throw colors that match what I see for confidence. I don't think most bass are gonna care. I do think sometimes it can help get an extra bite but probably it's usually not the color that makes them eat a lure - all other elements considered. Colors are a confidence thing and sometimes a conditions thing and that's about it. Junebug in the summer? Heck yeah! It's a good color. Junebug in the winter? Heck yeah! It's still a good color. Junebug jigs? Yep - they work fine.

Because color doesn't matter. (that way)

Struggling to land this particular bass
I definitely agree in general with all the keep the fish coming and beef up your tackle suggestions. If you get a hook into the fish, it won't come off no matter how hard it fights. Sounds like your issue is that you haven't been hooking her - probably just pulling her in but not getting the hooks past the barb and she comes right off every time. There is no playing big fish. Get them in. Get them photographed. Get them back! The quicker the better.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Got frogg'd very hard for fathers Day/on vacation at a local tackle shop we like to stop at: On the way to the beach I snagged my first Phat Frog in the duckling color and I snagged a 1/2 oz toad trophy and a shad trash panda (discontinued 13 fishing frog - Oliver Gnys favorite!) and a bone Launch because you can never have too many white launch frogs. Got my first snag proof Bobby's Perfect Frog in shad color and popping trophys in shad and bone. Son wanted a Teckel Sharker for his 5th grade graduation lure in the shark color after seeing it on Bassfishing HQ channel and I got the gizzard color for dad. Got back from the beach and my midway USA order arrived. Got some Spro Bronzeye Shad 65, white popping pipsqueak, some green tea popping and 5/8 oz trophy, bone trophy and more Launch and Launch XS in good colors. Also got a bunch of skirt material because snapping turtles keep getting my skirts! Really thinking hand tied custom skirt colors will yield some wild bites when I figure out what drives them nuts! ππππ£π£π£

What is the heaviest belly weighted swimbait hook you can use on a fluke without losing that action?
Try a finesse C rig - 10 lb big game - 1/8-3/8 oz sliding bullet weight - rubber bobber stop - lighter wire hook + fluke. Slide the rubber stopper to your desired leader length. Works EXCELLENT in 0-10 feet of water for a weightless presentation that gets down faster. Much less annoying to rig than a traditional c rig and better for finicky fish in shallow water.
