  1. Yeah nail weights will definitely make flukes and stick baits heavier and affect the action less - but weightless is the only way to have the action that it has. (hope that makes sense). I'd try lighter line and rod before I try heavier weight with a fluke. Also always rig it so the hook eye is outside of the plastic or it will rise up a lot. It will stay at depth much more efficiently with the hook eye exposed and it will weight and keel the bait to some degree. If the issue is depth - probably I'd put it on a C- Rig. That's the most efficient way to get a fluke deep fast and then pop it around weightless (sort of)
  2. On my small 50-200 acre lakes - the sticks definitely know the spots and hammer on them offshore with electronics all summer long. You can see them drop in - outboard to the sandbar nail the schools - outboard to the point - nail the schools - outboard to the hump etc etc. They are done fishing in 2 hours. It gets so doggone hot that the 'froth makers' stay home. Summer here is like winter. It's a empty playground. I just try to make a little swishy bubble trail splash with my fishing. No so much froth necessarily. But I do beat that bank and catch big fish in hot water. I think night and early morning are good because you're alone and less likely to pass out from a heat stroke and it's dark so they're stupider and usually easier to trick up shallow.
  3. I think they ARE easier to catch when it's hot but sometimes tricky to find. I agree that night time and early morning are very good in the summer for good reason.
  4. Everyone: killing it. @king fisher - dang dude. Dang. 🎣🎣🎣🔥🔥🔥 That's a giant and another fish of a lifetime on the end of your line sir! Congratulations!
  5. I have a GoPro and eventually I'll upload a video demonstrating some of the finer points of walking these frogs but the launch walks extremely well and very easily. The trophy takes more work to dial in but can do more tricks once you get it rolling. You can walk any frog or popper or spook with the right amount of slack and the correct angle of twitch. It's tricky but keep practicing and you won't even think about it. The more difficult it is to get a frog to walk - the more unique the action = the more bites (IMHO).
  6. Daggum stud! Well done sir! 😎😎😎🎣🎣🎣
  7. Wait til they see me do the 'chad shad chop ' with a frog. It really looks spectacularly good and the trophy is the best for it. And yes - I can make a trophy turn around and look the fish in the eye! It's cool! Trophy is also the best 'spitter' I've ever used. Try to exploit the head bob and walk it in place and get that mouth to snap and smack the water and then hang on to your butts. 😎👍🏼🎣
  8. Yes! The bigger ones walk the easiest to me - maybe you have a defective unit? Launch walks the easiest of all the scum frogs IMHO. Trophy takes some practice. Popper actually is probably the easiest - I lied. The smaller trophy is toughest to me. Small launch is a little tougher than the big launch but neither is hard for me. Try shortening one leg and making both legs shorter and with the scum frog stuff I find they like a 'tighter line' for the slack that you're popping than some other frogs which seem to like a big loose slack component to the wall the dog technique. The launch seems optimized for open water walking and the trophy seems geared more towards agitating fish in heavy cover but both are interchangeable in either role - just how id characterize them.
  9. These days - I'd just get the old one that needs restoration and send it to the super good replica people. Replica will look better and never deteriorate and then you don't have to worry about it in the future.
  10. They walk very easily for me....
  11. Frog/Buzzbait/Spinnerbait/Jig/Lipless/Plastic/Jerkbait/Swimbait. Right now I bring a frog and a weightless plastic to the lake and maybe a buzzbait or t rig and that's it! Summer is easy.
  12. As a frog connoisseur and somebody who uses them almost exclusively this time of year, I can tell you that they are two different frogs for two different jobs. Different profile - different action - just like all the frogs I use. 😎😎😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I love them both but the Launch is far more likely to withstand 30 bass! Both get bit. Love those Bobby's Perfect Frogs. Just got the duckling color to try!
  13. It's only your favorite Lake ever because you haven't fished timber from the John boat with me. Just get ready to set the hook on an 11 pounder. I've got the net.
  14. I use 30 lb braid and pretty stout hooks on my spinning rods - it ain't your grandpas spinning rod set up 😎😂 I'm horsing em in with spinning or baitcasters - just no backlashing weightless plastics etc.
  15. He ain't catching nothing 😂😂😂😂😎😎😎🐸🐸🐸😉😉😉
  16. I caught my biggest dropshot bass to date this spring using the Bronco bug!!! She wouldn't bite anything else!
  17. Well I'm glad his dad wants to go!!! Gee wiz! He'd be a fool not to if he had seen the success you've had!!! 😂😂😂😂 It's not everyday you get offered a free ride in the canoe of the best fishing guide in all of Maine.
  18. That's the coolest thing. You're the coolest @ol'crickety! 🎣🎣🎣😎😎😎
  19. Either? I have equal confidence with both - it's more about the bait I'm fishing and the depth/cover I'm fishing. I have caught plenty of big fish both ways and both work just fine.
  20. I think the 8-speed BB1 would be a killer frog reel. Go for it!
  21. When I grow up I wanna be like @IcatchDinks - more like icatchtanks LET'S GO BUD!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!
  22. I like the launch frog when they want more subtle action and I use the trophy for the very unique spitting head bobbing action that seems to get absolutely demolished. Seems like the lunch works better when it's a little calmer or when they want a more subtle presentation, and it seems like the trophy works a little better when they want a more aggressive and attention grabbing presentation. Like perhaps a windy day or when they're eating schools of Bait fish? I only use the 5/8 oz for the trophy but I used the small and the big for the launch. Shad colors have been my most productive, but you should use whatever colors work best on your waters. I got some of the popping trophies because they have a very small profile and I'm going to be seeing about those in just a little bit when they arrive. I assume they're going to work pretty good.
  23. Thank goodness I don't have to contend with those around here. I will say if you're primarily dealing with largemouth, they seem to be the most durable frogs and last many many fish.
  24. Do different stuff. Fish get conditioned easily to baits! I'm guessing the fish on your lake are done with jig head minnows like the fish on my lake did with the whopper plopper in 2020 😂
  25. Got out at night and fished some good looking stuff while the sun was setting and kept missing bites. Waited til the sun was down and put a weightless mag speed worm out there and caught this gorgeous 6 lber! Saw some moccasin skin that was fresh and wet by the dock. Jake picked up a little one on the blue fox inline at the pond earlier in the afternoon! Missed a giant on the Scum Frog but didn't miss this little guy before work this morning: Going out tonight - hopefully find a big one that wants to play. Going to the coast for red fish this week - very excited for that!
